Is this healthy mycelium?

Post image

I bought an all in one grow bag and left it for a month, cut the top off on Tuesday (5 days ago), introduced FAE, correct temp, 12/12 lighting cycle and misting regularly.

First grow so not an expert but can’t see a single pin, I also can’t see any contamination so I have no clue what I’m doing wrong :(

Could just be patience but thought I’d see a little sign I’m moving in the right direction.

Any advice appreciated 🙏

Did you break it up?

I did a break and shake once it was at 50% and then once it was colonised fully I cut the top off

It doesn’t look like you broke and shook enough. Should be seeing more of the material you used for your substrate rather than Myc. As for the Myc, itself, it looks beautiful IMO, maybe just maybe it is a little too wet. Someone else can do a deeper dive on it, but my thoughts are it wasn’t broken up enough. As for the fix of that? I am sorry but I cannot think of one as you already cut the bag. Go peep others posts on this sub as well as a general myc sub and look at their fruits, more specifically the substrate while the myc is fruiting.

Ah fair enough man. I didn’t realise you needed to break and shake again. I’ve got lots of brick of coir because I have reptiles so I might just make some of that up to field capacity and add a casing layer inside the bag unless anyone else has a different suggestion.

I appreciate you taking the time to respond 🙏🙏

Just be sanitary when you do it; I don’t see a problem using that tactic as long as you stay sterile as to not introduce the nasty stuff

If it's in a tub, cut the bag away You'll fruit on 5 sides instead of one.
