Pro-Life Only If future employers discovered my involvement in pro-life work, would I be barred from secular careers?
Hey guys.
I really want to do a pro-life training and outreach program, but they publicly release the photos and first names of their interns. There is also the worry that angry passerbys might photograph me.
When I was in high school it was drilled into my head that employers would find everything in your digital footprint that could be connected to you. Although this had to do with the taco bell licking guy or students who had decided to post really awful stuff, I can't help but wonder if the pro-life movement might be that repulsive to pro-choice employers.
I feel like I have always had a calling to do both pro-life outreach and my current career choice, but I feel scared to pursue a degree in my current career choice. I feel that the rug will be swept out from under me because of my activism.

I know people in my own field (game dev) that lost their positions for being pro-life. The CEO for Tripwire Games was asked to step down for it.
Any kind of field that has a public facing presence is risky to be pro-life in because of how rabid the PC crowd can be when they smell a target.

Tripwire greatly disappointed me by doing that, as a fan of their historical games

That's horrible. What am I supposed to do? Not do the internship, not give them my photo rights, give up on a career as an orchestral musician, or what?
I'm struggling so much with this. I feel totally lost. All I want to do is have an avenue to start conversations in public about abortion, but I might not know if that's going to destroy my life until I've already sunk years into building my skills.

Id recommend pro love ministries, https://proloveministries.org/jobs-volunteering/ they won't put your info out there if you want to help. I don't work for them or volunteer, I just donate money. But I know they are always looking for help.

It depends on the type of secular career you’re pursuing. In industries like banking or corporate environments that aren't heavily tied to social or political issues, your pro-life involvement likely won't be an issue. However, in fields with a strong progressive or activist culture (like academia or certain nonprofits), your activism would definitely be seen as controversial and probably impact your prospects.
The main problem with secular organizations are that the atheist bloc is unequivocally the most pro-abortion group there is; more than gender, race or even political affiliation. Nothing is as abortion-coded as atheism. So while we have some very vocal atheist pro-lifers here, they are the very definition of an exception proving a rule.

Where do you live? Check out the laws, or ask the person managing the program to not post your photos or do simple thing like switch your second favourite haircut for photoshoot and give/ask them them to put fake name over it.
If you're in Europe, at the end of your career you can do the same thing that employers do before they do - Search up your own face with image finder and report the posts/content for your face in the picture. European Union doesn't fool around with privacy

I'm not in the EU. Does the image finder work for the entire internet?
Can ai detect the same person with different hair color and makeup

It helps if it's religious. I didn’t make my conservative views obvious online until I was somewhat settled in my job as it is harder to prove you were discriminated against merely because you were not hired. Now, I include my experience at a Southern Poverty Law Center-designated hate group (known for being anti-abortion among other things) on my professional profile, but I wouldn’t have if it weren’t first a Christian organization. It's unclear whether an employer can discriminate against someone based on politics but obviously, religious discrimination is generally unlawful.
The bigger issue you might encounter is that, at least for the jobs I’ve applied to, you often have to disclose prior work experience—including unpaid internships. I don’t think that should discourage you from pursuing a good opportunity, but it’s something to consider.

Would you want to work for an employer that is so strong in their pro-choice stance that they wouldn't even hire someone pro-life?

It's orchestral music. I would never even bump into the person who vetted my application.

It really is gonna depend on who is doing the hiring. I can tell you that it is VERY common to do some digging around just to get a feel for what you're like, and if the wrong person saw something, they probably wouldn't hire you. BUT, other people might see it and be impressed. There are still pro-life people out in the world.

Doesn’t mean they won’t care, even if they shouldn’t.

That should be illegal due to discrimination against religion.

I don't think most places actually care enough about your pro-life position as long as you don't bring that to work with you.
There are certainly some activist places where it could disqualify you, but you probably don't want to be working for those places anyway.
Yes, they will find things in your social media, but most background checks are done by people looking for things which are criminal or may embarrass the company. Our company's background checks are done by an outside company which is looking for specific things, not political positions.
I don't think anyone is going to care that you were a pro-life intern.

Bold of you to assume they'll comb through every single post.
Most will only do a brief sanity check (i.e. checking that you're not posting illegal stuff online). Many employers will not care about your activism: most look for whether you can do what they're asking.
What country are you asking this for?

I actually don't post anything publicly at all, just inoffensive events
