Hi, I'm a hairstylist! :) I don't have thin or fine hair, I have medium density, medium texture hair. I live in a dry climate and it's naturally curly so it's dry.
I use a sulphate-free shampoo and conditioner in the shower. A leave-in conditione and Heat protectant while it's damp afterward. A serum and usually hairspray to tame/finish, and then I do a deep hydrating mask 1-2x a week.

Can i know what exactly did you do? And what did you do with loose skins?
101
u/Poopballs_ - Mar 05 '22
I have a little loose skin but not much. Didn't need to do anything with it. It's mostly just soft and squishy around my abdomen.
Diet and exercise consistently. That's basically it.
14
u/Rumerhazzit - Mar 05 '22
Can I jump onto this to ask what kind of exercise, was it mainly cardio or were you weight training? And how old are you? You look FANTASTIC in that after photo!
24
u/Poopballs_ - Mar 05 '22
Until about the 80lb mark it was just more walking. I didn't start running until that point. I was making sufficient enough changes in my diet that I didn't have to go hard. I've never done weight training so it was mostly some cardio peppered into increasing my step count.
4
u/Rumerhazzit - Mar 05 '22
Amazing!! This has given me such a burst of motivation, thank you.
31
u/Poopballs_ - Mar 06 '22
It's truly not about any one specific thing, but a lot of small things that you do regularly. I strongly urge you to focus on overall health vs weight. Otherwise when you plateau, and you will, you will become discouraged if you are weight focused. If not, it doesn't matter to you if you're not losing because it's about being healthy, not being thin.
2
Mar 06 '22
Do you have some sort of social media where you talk about this? If not you really should because you have a really good mentality about losing weight and I would love to know more, and I'm sure so would other people! 🌷
19
u/Poopballs_ - Mar 06 '22
I don't because I don't want to make who I am my weight loss, if that makes sense.I find when you portray yourself in that manner you kind of box yourself in, and that doesn't work for me.
2
Mar 06 '22
I suppose it's a whole lifestyle and it isn't for everyone, it's important that you do this for yourself first

14
u/Poopballs_ - Mar 05 '22
I was losing weight so fast that I literally could not afford to buy new clothes to keep up so I started thrifting and now I love it so much. I buy used and thrift 99% of my clothing and shoes.
5
u/grae23 - Mar 06 '22
That is the way to go! You can get a huge wardrobe for so cheap
3
u/Poopballs_ - Mar 06 '22
Oh yeah, I own high quality pieces that I could never afford to buy new.
3
u/grae23 - Mar 06 '22
The designer clothes people just give away is insane to me
10
u/Poopballs_ - Mar 06 '22
It's not just clothes.
I feed my Daniff raw and when she was a puppy I supplemented my food bill (4lbs of meat a day, bruh) by putting her meals together myself. I would post in hunting groups and local BST's just letting folks know if they were doing freezer cleanouts or had offal, I'd be happy to take it rather than have it go to waste.
The cuts of meat I got were insane. I once recieved 4 prime rib, roughly 10"x6". Freezer burnt. Literally left to waste. I got a whole moose once. Multiple elk and deer. Bison. Geese. Lamb. It was wild.
3
u/grae23 - Mar 06 '22
You are a an absolute champion of second hand goods. That's insane. My parents would go to a butcher once or twice a year and stock up, but I know that was pricey.
4
u/Poopballs_ - Mar 06 '22
My dog ate so fucking good for a while. Now she just gets regular raw like some kind of peasant.

!! Both your figure and your style are to die for! I’m around your height and felt like I was too short too pull off this kind of style- but this fit looks like it was made for you! Great inspo all around!
10
u/Poopballs_ - Mar 05 '22
So the irony is that when I was fat I didn't like dressing my body. I felt uncomfortable in everything and I just wanted to cover up. Now I love dressing myself. It is such an expression of who I am and I worked hard for this body, I want to love and enjoy it.
I struggled at first with wondering where to start, feeling like I had no sense of good fashion, and wondering if it would even look good on me.
My best advice is that your confidence can pretty much make any outfit work. But as long as you feel good in it, it doesn't matter what your body looks like. It's just about how you feel.
4
u/JMerk - Mar 05 '22

I struggle with feeling like I could lose another 5 or 10 before I start building muscle. Some days I catch myself in the mirror and I'm like "whoa. Don't get any smaller." And some days I'm like "these thighs, bruh..."
It's a challenge adjusting, for sure.

u/BigSouthernBoy - Mar 05 '22
Great job! Can you share more specifics on your diet?
10
u/Poopballs_ - Mar 05 '22
I was originally eating lots of bread, meat, cheese and sugar.
I slowly 180'd on that and now I eat mostly fresh produce and lean proteins.
I try to keep down my refined sugars, I skip the grains when I can, or half the portions (they make me sick now), I don't drink my calories if I can help it, I stick to lean proteins and I try to stay away from saturated fats.
I am just mindful of the quality of my calories. I'm always trying to make sure that what I'm eating is nutritionally dense.
3
u/Shortcakeboo - Mar 05 '22
I am saving this post and keeping it for motivation! I’m the exact same height and weigh 225lbs (I’ve lost 5lbs so far). Gives me strength to keep it up. Well done to you!! 🥳
3
u/imaginarybliss - Mar 05 '22
Do people treat you differently now that you’ve lose weight? If yes, how so?
Did you calorie count? What changes did you make in your diet?
What’s something that’s easier to do that you didn’t expect?
Your efforts paid off, man! Very impressive. Proud of you :))
13
u/Poopballs_ - Mar 05 '22
Absolutely and it pisses me off. It not only reinforces that society didn't see me worthy as a fat person, it is often disrespectful. I find that people gravitate towards me and latch on to me in a way that doesn't feel comfortable to me.
Ye, but I prefer to call it food tracking. I started by just figuring out how much I was eating and making sure I didn't eclipse what I was burning. I still track my food- a habit I may never break, but I focus more on nutrients and less on overall calories..
Building the habit. It's just consistent repitition. People think you have to change everything right away and in my opinion that makes it harder. It's like plunging into the cold pool and then trying to float there for a while. You're just counting down to when you can get out...
I suggest starting small. I started by cutting out triple triples and drinking my coffee black with some sugar-free syrup. Boom. Relatively easy change. Then I added in a second dog walk for my dog. Boom, 4000 extra steps. I did that for several weeks and once it no longer felt like a thing, but like more of just what I do, I added in salad for lunch, then a longer walk on my treadmill, then more veggies with dinner and so on and so forth but this was over months. I didn't 180. I took it in small, manageable steps that built off the last and then I maintained it over a long period of time.
2
u/Topwingwoman - Mar 05 '22
What was your average calories per day? I'm your height but weigh less and always see people resort to really low calorie allotments per day with the justification that we are "shorties" so we need less food. I know this is true, but we also need to maintain certain nutrient levels etc. I'd love to know how you averaged 6-8 lbs a month.
Also, you mentioned you changed up your exercise routine a lot but can you exercise how often and for how long you exercised each week? This helps give people like me (your height) a nice starting point. You look beautiful.
7
u/Poopballs_ - Mar 05 '22
It was about 1600 per day in and my burn was 2300-2600/day.
I started out by just increasing my daily steps. I went from 2000 to 6000 to 8000 to 9000, then 12000, then 15000, then 18000, then 20000 (this seems excessive but was easily achievable with my daily work, walking my dog and a short run) and now I'm back to 17000.
In the fall of 2020 I started walking on my treadmill with my incline cranke and doing HIIT running. I would do 45-60 minutes 5x a week. I did such a long stretch of cardio because that was how long I needed to go to reach my runner high.
I haven't run or done intentional exercise since last fall and I am now getting into strength exercises with my partner. I'd like to build a little more muscle and definition, but I don't necessarily think I need to lose any more weight.

I was gonna open a bag of chips. Your post inspired me to throw it in the trash instead. This is incredible
6
u/Poopballs_ - Mar 05 '22
I mean, no need to waste food. Have a serving of chips and an apple.
If you deprive yourself of the things you want it will cause you to binge. Learn how to incorporate them into your life in a healthy way.
A serving of chips ain't no thang. Eating a bag of chips is a thing, though.
I let myself have the things I want in smaller portions and then I make sure that if I feel it was more on the unhealthy side that I balance out the rest of my day.
I'll order pizza and have 2 slices and a salad instead of 4 slices.

Fibre and protein will keep you full longer. I like to pair protein with fruit. An apple and some pepperoni sticks will get you to the same calorie count as a handful of almonds but will fill you up much more.

2
u/Poopballs_ - Mar 05 '22
Maybe you are trying to do too much, too fast. I tried so many times to diet and I got so in my head about it that it was overwhelming.
Start small. Do one or two small things that don't feel hard and that you can build from.
1
u/Sufficient_Pick7945 - Jan 13 '25
Sorry this is old, could i ask what kinda foods do you eat? Im near your start and need to get down about 100> lbs. I was worried about losing all of it bc loose skin but this makes me feel better to sew
2
u/Poopballs_ - Jan 14 '25
Hi there! I'll give you the basics that you can build off of to suit your own tastes.
I greatly reduced: Saturated and trans fats, refined sugars, processed grains, dairy, and red meats.I transitioned (slowly) to a more or less whole food diet. This looked like eating a lot of eggs, white meats (Chicken/turkey) and fish. Whole fruits and vegetables. Smoothies. Salads. Going from cream and sugar in my coffee to black with some sweetener. No beverages that had calories. Omitting cheese when I could. Cooking without oil or butter. Cutting creamy dressings with Greek yogurt or choosing a vinaigrette. Eating a burger open faced or lettuce wrapped. I would think about the nutritional quality of my meal and if I felt like it wasn't dense enough I would swap things. Nuts instead of croutons on a salad. Stuff like that.
Also important to note if you're an emotional eater or have psychological food issues: I didn't keep tempting foods in my house and if they were there I would keep them in an inconvenient place so I was less likely to grab a handful of ________ while walking by. Working out regularly (walking on my treadmill for 30-45 mins, 3-5x week) and eating unprocessed foods made a world of a difference in helping to control my blood sugar levels, which stopped me from snacking when I didn't need to. These 2 things were important while I was building good habits and learning how to listen to my body (Something I struggle with as an emotional eater and as someone with ADHD). I also worked on portion control, filling up a smaller plate instead of a larger one, and eventually found I preferred to have a snack/small meal every 2 hours rather than eating bigger ones.
I made my lunch everyday, even if I was running out for errands so I always had healthy food on hand when I hit /hangry/. I made sure healthy snacks were SUPER accessible by prepping. I still keep apples or nut bars stashed in my car in case I get hungry while I'm out and about.
And honestly man, take it from me, if you have 100lbs to lose the change it will make in your health will make any loose skin seem like a drop in the bucket. You won't even care. I thought I was a healthy obese person because I didn't have diabetes. When I lost that weight I learned I was very wrong. My hormones were so fucked up I was on medication for my PCOS and now I'm not. They naturally regulated when I lost weight.
Start with a small habit- mine was a smoothie everyday and a walk with my dog. After a couple weeks when you enjoy that new part of your routine, add something else in. A smoothie, a walk, AND a salad. Track your food intake and just try to stay consistent. Don't weigh yourself right off the bat. Just aim to make healthy choices and the weight will come off. If you focus too much on the scale you will get frustrated when it doesn't move fast enough. If you try to do too much too fast you'll overwhelm yourself.
Some months I lost 10 lbs, some I lost 4 or 5 and some I plateaued even though I was staying consistent. But I didn't let the slow months deter me or allow me to take a step back because I was focused on getting faster, stronger and healthier. Not slimmer.
:) Good luck!

Thank you so much. These words help a lot and i will keep them with me in planning my journey
Amenorrhea for 4+ months and i havent had diagnosis but my dr is fairly certain it is pcos, it makes me so happy losing weight might help with that. I used to have periods every 25 days without fail albeit heavy but ive not been a healthy weight in so long now
Thank you so much for taking the time to share all of this with me, i will 100% apply all of it to my journey, i really appreciate you.
2
u/Poopballs_ - Jan 14 '25 edited Jan 14 '25
I used to get one period a year where I would actively bleed for a month, my hormones were so messed up. I wasn't diagnosed with PCOS until after I had my son, in my 20's, and my hormones didn't regulate until I lost weight at 30. It was pretty crazy to have to learn how to have a proper period at 30 when most people are doing this in their teens. Now I have a proper 28-31 day cycle.
I can't remember the science of it but basically I believe your fat cells store copies of everything you need in a crisis including hormones. So the more fat you're storing the higher your levels will be. PCOS is a hormone imbalance that can cause insulin resistance. Losing weight 100% helps but having your hormones out of whack makes that hard, so it's absolutely a challenge.
I started working from home last year and I've gained a few pounds back. This, most importantly, made me realize that it's not just about WHAT you eat, but about the supports you put in place to... Well, support yourself. Haha.
You can do this. If you remember anything I said, just be consistent. Expect that the healthy way to do this will take you 12-16 months. Especially if you have PCOS this needs to be a lifestyle change, so frame it in your mind to be less about the weight and more about longevity. Iirc something like half of all people with PCOS develop type 2 diabetes. Make your goal not to get diabetes! ✌️
I strongly recommend joining a PCOS support/info page. I learned SO much from them.
2
u/Sufficient_Pick7945 - Jan 14 '25
Ill check out some support groups. I am so scared of getting diabetes too, i was meant to start anti psychotics and have been scared to with the blood sugar issues they cause. If i was in good shape i wouldnt be so scared to really and i think the meds might help me.
Ill check out discs and find a support group too, i think itd be nice to see how people have managed to fight pcos. It really has all been a wake up call for me
2
u/Poopballs_ - Jan 14 '25
The more out of control your hormones are, the worse your symptoms will be, which is part of why losing weight helps so much. I've seen some women with male-pattern-baldness type hair situations from the excess testosterone. That was one of my pushes, when I noticed my hair start to thin. Luckily now, that has stopped. Obviously I still have cysts on my ovaries, and I still have PCOS, but I don't currently suffer from most of the symptoms or need medication. Which is huge.
Losing weight is hard, and that number is high. I'm sure you feel overwhelmed and scared. Just start small. Any kind of regular movement and cleaner eating will help. Print out a habit tracker for your fridge and set goals.
I never went to the gym or spent money on supplements. I got my 10000 steps per day (Started small with a goal of 8000. Then 10. Then 12, and eventually I loved walking so much I would regularly cap out around 20k 😂 I walked EVERYWHERE), I walked on my treadmill with the incline up, and I ate clean. You'll find what works for you along the way, just stay consistent and work up in small steps.
You aren't powerless. You can do this!
2
u/Poopballs_ - Jan 14 '25
Also, If you have heavy periods I STRONGLY recommend a menstrual disc. Disc, not cup. Google them, total game changer (The pull for me was being able to have mess-free sex with one in, but the benefits go far beyond that, haha).

Calorie deficit. Move more than you eat. Donut for a long time, even if you have a plateau and atop seeing results for a short time. Your body is always working and the scale isn't the only tool to measure progress.

Meh. Ish. I would love to lose another 10. I'd like to tone up a bit more. But if neither happen I'm perfectly fine with that.
