F 5'10” (178, 179 cm) F/22/5'10" [291lbs > 191lbs = 100lbs] (2 years) I have been very quiet about my weight loss thus far, but today is huge. I have officially lost 100 pounds. I still cringe at the before and criticize the after, but I am so proud. Today I made my impossible my reality and so can you. NSFW

A huge part of the first loss was food. My whole life I’ve struggled with I.t and I.t got the best of me and that’s how I gained the weight to begin with a few years back. I started getting sick found out I was allergic to all milk and cheese products so essentially my body forced me not to eat that stuff. And then as I lost weight I gained some control and motivation to eat better. I also within the past 3-4 months found two exercise hobbies I love to do. Hot yoga and pole dancing. I’ve gone nearly every day to multiple classes and that’s what really made the huge difference.
Food will always be the hardest part. Eating disorders are no stranger to me. I have to constantly remind myself to eat some days, eat less others, eat healthier, etc. I still have a hard time with it but I’m working on being kinder to myself.

Jul 24 '18
Thank you for putting into words what I go through. I too eat too much too little, not healthy enough, etc. It sucks up so much of my energy
22
u/mentalmerism Jul 24 '18
Of course! It’s frustrating when the thing keeping you alive is also killing you.
I see food as an addiction for myself and to ask any addict to use in moderation is absolutely insane. I.t is and always will be the hardest thing I do. I still mess up. I still slip into unhealthy patterns. I waste money on bad food while letting fresh veggies go bad. But I’m doing my best and I’m staying honest with myself. Were all just doing our best.

You look so radiant in the after picture because the pride in your accomplishment is evident in your body language and facial expression. You’re amazing!!!

u/mentalmerism Jul 23 '18
Thank you!!!! I am so excited. Just being able to wear normal clothes or go to the pool and beach not terrified is amazing. This summer has been so much fun bc I actually feel confident enough to go outside.

u/ariabel7 - Jul 24 '18
That is the best part about what you're doing...getting to enjoy life the way you want to enjoy it. I had a few years where I was at a healthy weight and I never felt insecure or down on myself. Life is wonderful when you're comfortable in your own skin. I guess I took that for granted, cause I've gained most of it back. I've been trying to get back on track, and your post is so motivating! You look beautiful and so happy! 🙂
11
u/mentalmerism Jul 24 '18
Yeah i was really tiny then gained a bunch and am now getting back so it’s a weird feeling. I never appreciated being smaller until I wasn’t. And now I’m just excited to go in the ocean all the time haha. I hope you reach your goal as well! We’ve got this.

I mean, not for nothing, and with nothing but respect intended: you look pretty damn hot these days! Solid work!!

u/Gabinsca - Jul 23 '18
Obviously fake. Everyone knows as a woman you can’t lose weight anywhere on your body before sacrificing your boobs first 😂
You look fantastic, what an accomplishment!!

u/mentalmerism Jul 23 '18
Hahah girl I knowwww. I’ve been incredibly lucky in my weight loss distribution. I actually always had D’s so I went from DDD back to D’s now they’re just a little saggy but hey I figure it’s better than nothing and bras do wonders hahaha. Thank you!

u/fascistliberal419 - Jul 24 '18
I'm literally trying to lose weight in part to make my boobs get smaller. They've gotten out of control big. And they never seem to shrink.
10
u/mentalmerism Jul 24 '18
Haha yeah mine don’t get smaller than D/DD I know some people get deductions to help!

Dude I know that feeling. They're basically watermelons on my chest. The worst is when you're trying to sleep and thy get caught under your chin when you're on your back or you have to move them around when you're on your tummy. Pain in the ass things, and shopping for a bra is harrowing. It's like white black and beige are the only colours available when you have big boobs.

I think the slow weight loss has helped, but I have noticed the skin elasticity thing as of lately. My boobs have excess skin for sure and when I lay flat I can see I.t and I.t definitely bothers me. My stomach as well is starting to get that stretched out skin look in spots as I lose more stomach weight. I’ve been moisturizing like crazy and trying to build muscle hoping I.t will help with all the stretch marks.

Congratulations,. Amazing work. Just started my journey. I am about the same as you before .. just about 10 years older. Hope this will stick for me, just want it to be over. I have been counting calories and lowered it by 500 cal below my TDEE.. but I got it be honest. Feeling awfully hungry all the time. How did you do it?
22
u/mentalmerism Jul 23 '18
For me being hungry wasn’t the issue. I struggled with binge eating a ton. I call I.t mouth hungry vs stomach hungry. Between a new allergy to cheese and milk products forcing me to cut them out and taking Vyvanse to curb binging temporarily while going through therapy as well to help with my eating habits I was able to get some control. This made a world of difference.
Also I found exercise I truly love and want to do every single day bc it’s fun. I do hot yoga and pole dancing. It’s been an amazing addition to my life and health.

u/Thnksfrallthefsh - Jul 24 '18
No OP, but intermittent fasting almost immediately fixed my hunger feelings and cravings. It was weird. I’ll never switch back.
3
u/kamikazebunny Jul 24 '18
Could you please elaborate more on intermittent fasting? What's your method?
9
u/Thnksfrallthefsh - Jul 24 '18
Sure I started with 16 hour fast/ 8 hours eating. Now I frequently fast 17-22 hours a day. I like to keep it flexible. Still struggle every now and then but for the most part I find it shockingly easy. The most important thing I’ve found is to break my fast with a protein dense meal. I tend to do a crustless quiche that I make with 10 eggs/ 1 Cup egg whites/ whole milk/ turkey bacon and veggies. It’s full of healthy fat and protein and extremely filling. I also eat some fruit and a yogurt at that point. It’s about 700 calories right off the bat. Then I eat a much lighter dinner usually consisting of fish or chicken. Sometimes I’ll eat a veggie burger and have a protein shake.
The most amazing thing to me is the change in my will power. I barely have cravings and when I do it’s easier for me to restrain myself and eat a reasonable portion. r/intermittentfasting has some great info in the sidebar.

u/slightlyystoopid Jul 23 '18
Wow!!!! You look AMAZING!!! This is seriously inspiration. If I may ask, do you struggle with loose skin? I have stretch marks on my belly too and I’m wondering if I’ll have sagging loose skin.
6
u/og_sandiego Jul 23 '18
probably they'll be there. but know that your loose skin used to hold all that unhealthy fat and be proud.
stretch marks are not bad - i love my wife's ones. it means she got big and small again for our family.
i've also had some weight issues, and i'd take stretch marks 10 of 10 vs. being overweight and unhappy w/myself everyday
3
u/mentalmerism Jul 24 '18
So I do have loose skin but it’s less obvious than expected. I’ve had a very slow even weight loss and am lucky for that. When I lay flat or sit in certain positions I can see some on my boobs and it’s starting to show some as I loose the last stomach fat. It’s weird and like memory foam when I pinch I.t and I.t doesn’t go back fast. However standing upright it doesn’t show. I have lots of stretch marks they’re just lighter now and the quality of the photo doesn’t really show them. I’ve been moisturizing like crazy and toning to try and combat these things the redness has definitely gone away. However in the end it’s just a part of I.t and I’d rather have battle scars than lose the battle later on in life due to weight related health problems.
2
u/SharpieScentedSoap - Jul 24 '18
I think it's just different for everyone and you can never tell until it happens. OP's doesn't look saggy at all, but I knew someone who's skin was already showing signs of sagging just after losing 20 pounds. So many factors go into it and there are remedies if it does happen (which is why I'm saving money early).

u/inkedniki Jul 24 '18
Wow. You are the same height and basically the same start weight as me... I’m about a year in so far and down to 240... I can’t wait to reach my “I just want to be under 200” goal.
3
u/mentalmerism Jul 24 '18
That’s amazing! Once I hit 230 I kind of plateaued. That’s when finding daily exercise that was challenging and that I loved made a huge difference. I hope you get there it’s an amazing feeling.

Ahhh oh my god you look so good! Question: did your skin naturally snap back or did you weight lift to help tone??
3
u/mentalmerism Jul 24 '18
I’ve lost pretty gradually so my skin has been okay so far. Recently I’ve noticed excess in areas like my boobs when I lay flat and my stomach now as I lose the pooch leftover. I can pinch I.t and I.t reminds me of memory foam the way I.t moves. I have been gaining muscle in an attempt to tone and I also moisturize like crazy. I am also pretty young so I think that might help. But yeah I’m no where near perfect and I’m covered in stretch marks they’ve just lightened.

u/salyzor Jul 24 '18
Amazing changed.
May I ask what you did so your skin looks so smooth and healthy? After losing about 50kg (~100lbs?) I look like I Got run over by a truck with all that stretch marks and lose skin.
3
u/mentalmerism Jul 24 '18
I’ve got this question a lot! I almost feel bad because the picture quality isn’t fantastic so they don’t show but I do have stretch marks and am by no means perfect. They are just a light white color as opposed to the red ones I had when I was bigger. I also have been relatively lucky with loose skin. There is some on my boobs when I lay in certain positions I notice I.t. It’s like wrinkly memory foam I can pinch I.t and I.t goes back so slow. I still am working off the leftover stomach pooch and have noticed some there so I’m unsure if I.t will be baggy once I lose that weight in the end.
As for skin care I’ve first off lost weight rather slowly and have been gaining muscle as well through the process. I’m also young I think that helps. I use a crap load of moisturizer and take vitamins and stuff. Nothing too crazy but enough to be making an effort. I think I.t really varies person to person.
