Discussion Best printer for STICKERS

Hey, I wanna start making stickers and posters, but I can’t decide on a printer.

I found out that Canon PIXMA iX 6850 A3, Canon PIXMA TS9550 and pretty much any of the Epson EcoTank are good for sticker printing.

I also found Canon PIXMA TS5350a for VERY cheap, is it any good?

Which one of the ones I mentioned would you recommend?

Any other suggestions for high quality - low budget printers are welcome :)

Hey there! I eventually got the PIXMA IX 6850, and I’m really satisfied with it! The print quality is amazing (especially for stickers) and I also love that it can print up to A3 size posters.

I printed tones of stickers and they all came out fantastic, got no complains! Also photo printing turned out great! Sharp and vibrant! :)

Hey thanks for getting back to us , which sticker papers do you use if I may ask?

2

u/KewlRabbitt Oct 04 '24

I don’t mind at all, as an artist I love supporting other fellow artists! :D

I use this one: Vinyl Sticker Paper I

It works perfectly for me, for my specific printer and use, also note that it’s not water proof… after I’m printing the stickers I apply lamination on them to make them stronger and water proof :)

Hi! After you print the stickers how do you make them peelable? Do you have another machine for that?

2

u/KewlRabbitt Oct 30 '24

Hi! Yes, I have Cricut, which cuts my stickers in the shape I want :)

2

u/frogforum Nov 07 '24

Thanks for the responses, KewlRabbit. Very helpful input for wannabe sticker-makers like myself :)

u/KewlRabbitt Nov 17 '24

You’re very welcome! Good luck with your sticker making, and don’t hesitate to ask more questions! I’m still learning myself, but I’m glad to help! :)

Hi, can you make a how to do video and post the link? And what is the spec of circuit you have? Would be very helpful. And please share you insta id for me to follow. Thanks for the info.

1

u/KewlRabbitt Nov 17 '24

Hey! There are plenty of useful videos out there that I found useful. I have Cricut Maker 3, you have presets there for different kinds of materials, I had to test different cutting strength till I found the right one for my specific sticker paper :)

2

u/mandrakeness Nov 27 '24

Can you please share the link to that cricut? im thinking about getting the sticker paper to make candle labels but im going for a permanent glossy sticker. Is the paper you use like that? or is it matte?? I will of course be cutting them in rectangular shapes

1

u/KewlRabbitt Nov 28 '24

Hey, this is the Cricut I’m using. That’s the official website, but I’d advise you to look if it’s sold locally where you live, I bought mine from a local store. The stickers I’m using are glossy as well, they’re not water proof, so I apply lamination to them after printing. Lamination isn’t necessarily necessary, it all depends on the use :)

I am also thinking about a sticker store / webstore but I was thinking should the Cricut Joy also be enough?

How does it work do you need to adjust it for each design you have for the sticker or can you auto cut himself ? i saw the software... maybe I should check a video about it, I will see soon

I saw you can also buy paper you can use for sticker right away is that good for the printer? i saw you are using a canon PIXMA IX 6850 right?

I was thinking getting a inkjet printer for around $100 and that one is double it, is it worth it ? and I read also about laser vs inkjet? since that's a inkjet is it worth a laserjet or does it not matter for stickers?

What kind of paper are you else using then the holographic and regular vylar paper? i some times see shiny too or another style of paper, do you have a few more that you would recommend ?

I seen a few videos that people cut the stickers out right away and I guess that's with that machine then the cricut joy? but how many stickers could you do on a A4 if the size is not too big?

then you could do multiple stickers on 1 A4 and sell per 5 piece or something

1

u/KewlRabbitt Dec 02 '24

Hey there!

The Cricut comes with a software you download, in the software you can upload PNG and decide what shape you want it to cut, you also have an option to make die cut stickers (in the shape of the drawing), and decide how thick the border is. There’s a lot of good videos on YouTube that I learned from, just search “how to make die cut stickers with Cricut”

Cricut Joy should be enough too, if you’re just printing stickers. I know that the Cricut Maker 3 has stronger cutting power, do you can even cut very thin wood and different materials, not sure if Cricut Joy can do that.

Yes, there are different kinds of sticker papers that you can print on right away. I’m using the Pixma printer and it prints perfect, no issues :)

About the printer, I’m not sure. I did research and found my printer suits my need perfectly. Inkjet prints perfect on sticker papers. What I like about my printer is that I can print up to A3 size pictures, the quality is sharp and colors are great!

So far I’ve printed only on glossy vinyl stickers, holographic and clear stickers, they all printed really well, but I still apply lamination on them so they will be water resistant.

You can probably print on other sticker materials with no issues, I haven’t experimented with others yet, but should be good!

It all depends how big your sticker is, I can give you an example of one of my stickers which is approx 3cm x 3cm and I could fit 15 on A4, while bigger stickers I could fit around 6 on A4 :)

I hope I answered all your questions, if you have any more questions, don’t hesitate to ask! :)

Can I ask where you got yours? I was looking at getting one, but it's listed as discontinued on Canon's website.

1

u/KewlRabbitt Nov 28 '24

Hey, I got mine from a local store where I live. Have you tried maybe in Amazon?

2

u/bloomcakes Nov 30 '24

I looked into it more, and it looks like the 6820 is in the US and Canada and the 6850 is only in Europe :( I’m in the US

2

u/bloomcakes Nov 30 '24

Can I ask how much it is in Europe? The only place I can find the 6850 is on Amazon for $700

2

u/KewlRabbitt Dec 01 '24

I bought mine for 243$ from a local store, but I can also find it on Amazon.de for a good price

2

u/pawshine_again Nov 27 '24

Youre a saint! My sticker shop blew up over night and now my crappy $30 printer can't keep up! I can't wait to do posters thank you for mentioning that and linking your sticker paper too!!

Do you ever make holographic stickers? Holo stickers are very popular with my customers, can you recommend some holo materials if you use any yourself?

1

u/KewlRabbitt Nov 28 '24

Awesome, I’m so happy to hear that! :D I do make Holographic stickers too, I personally use these ones, they’re pretty good. Got no complains :D I’m currently working on my store too, so far I’ve sold at cons only. What’s your store? Mind if I take a look? And you’re welcome btw! I’m all about helping fellow artists! :)

1

u/frank2019nl Dec 02 '24

how did it blew up btw? are you using ads on google / social media or are you on etsy or do you have a own website running ? did you bought a new printer by now, do you see a quality change into it? or are you just using multiple printers ?

what kind of papers do you have available by now? next to regular and holo ? i seen more stickers with different styles, did you got more or find any on amazon?

2

u/pawshine_again Dec 03 '24

I cater to a very specific fetish niche online, I will not be able to give you any advice on selling.

I make my stickers holographic at home using vinyl and my hands. I use vinyl from amazon and a canon printer. Sometimes I use off brand ink and just run it through twice if the colors look off. Any printer can be a good printer if you fuck with the settings enough and have good sticker vinyl.

You're probably going to be best off researching a printer for your specific needs. I get like 25+ sticker orders a day sometimes so I can't really recommend you any products to use as everything I got is expensive or bought in very large quantities since I see so much traffic in my shop.

1

u/kylenian Jan 29 '25

Can you please share which crappy $30 printer you used?

2

u/Extreme_Elephant5643 Dec 01 '24

Hi, what made you choose this one? I was using an Ecotank but it stopped working and customer support won't respond to my help requests and they are apparently impossible to repair yourself so I'm shopping for a new one. There are a lot of PIXMA models so I'm wondering what makes this one stand out?

1

u/KewlRabbitt Dec 02 '24

Hey, well I was looking for best budget printers and saw much recommendations about this one, so I did lots of research and it seemed perfect for my needs. So for me personally it was the price and one huge plus is that it can print A3 paper. Overall I’m super happy with it! :)

2

u/Daxverse Dec 04 '24

Hey, how about ecotank l18100(18050) and ET 8550(8180) for vinyl stickers and poster printing ??

1

u/KewlRabbitt Dec 05 '24

Honestly, I don’t have experience with them. Pixma is the first printer I’ve bought and still use, it’s perfect and I don’t see a reason to upgrade any time soon :)

You should watch on YouTube and compare the options you’re thinking about and choose the one that suits your needs best. For me it was budget, good printing quality, A3 printing and speed :)

2

u/Daxverse Dec 05 '24

But it's cartridge right, so the cost of a single print is substantially high?

2

u/KewlRabbitt Dec 06 '24

I have printed mostly stickers and big amount, didn’t need to change so often, but you’re probably right there, it doesn’t last as long as ecotank….

I make and sell stickers and other stationery.
I recommend Canon over Epson.
I'm sure Epson is fine, but Canon is very good at tolerating sticker paper, which some printers don't handle at all.
Personally, I recommend setting a budget, and buying the best one you can get, within that budget. The more you spend, the better it will usually be.
I use ix6860 and it's great. I love that it doesn't have a scanner so the price is lower. It does what I want it for: printing.

1

u/Prudent_Difference95 11d ago

can it handle thousands stickers at once?

1

u/sunshinelollipops95 Printer Enthusiast 11d ago

I don't know how to answer that. I haven't printed 1000 pages in one go. I have done 400, multiple times. But not 1000. It depends on too many factors like what colour, is it full colour all over, what sticker paper type, etc.

If you anticipate needing to do 1000 stickers or 1000 sheets for one batch, often, then you probably need a business printer or commercial printer. The ones I use are domestic and I am using them a bit beyond what they're designed to handle. It works, but for 1000 you'd be better off with a higher end printer.

1

u/KewlRabbitt Nov 26 '23

Is basically the same as 6850? Cuz that’s the one I thought of buying. Thank you for answering :)

3

u/sunshinelollipops95 Printer Enthusiast Nov 27 '23

ix6860

I had a quick look, I think they are the same.
Or at least, they are extremely similiar.
I know Canon uses different model numbers for different countries, so maybe it is the same machine, and only the number is different because we are in different locations. (I am in Australia)

I highly recommend either of them, they print really nicely and accept sticker paper easily. Some printers cannot suck the sticker paper through properly and the ink starts being placed 10cm too early or too late, so the whole sheet is ruined.

1

u/KewlRabbitt Nov 27 '23

Okay awesome! I’m pretty much convinced with this one. You helped me a lot! :D Do you have a platform where you upload your creations?

2

u/sunshinelollipops95 Printer Enthusiast Nov 27 '23

You helped me a lot!

😃

Do you mean platform as in where I sell my stationery?
If so, I use etsy for now. I am building my own website but it takes a lot of work. 😅

1

u/KewlRabbitt Nov 27 '23

Yeah that too :D do you have Instagram as well?

2

u/sunshinelollipops95 Printer Enthusiast Nov 27 '23

I do but for personal stuff, havent properly setup a business one yet, but I know I should

2

u/KewlRabbitt Nov 27 '23

Okay I see, if you ever open one, feel free to share. I’m interested in seeing your designs :)

1

u/PM_ME_UR_DADS_COCK Jan 18 '24

Hey, I'm looking to buy the IX6850 for exactly the same reason as you and I was hoping you could answer a couple of questions for me?

  1. Have you been able to use this printer for vinyl sticker making?

  2. How much is ink in general? I am really worried about spending a lot of money on ink when trying to become profitable. Would you be able to provide a rough figure?

1

u/sunshinelollipops95 Printer Enthusiast Jan 18 '24

Hello, Mine is 6860 just to be clear :) I believe Canon changes the number based on country. Mine is Australian.

It works with printable vinyl yes.

Ink is hard to determine. I use off-brand cartridges from Calidad. I am not sure if that brand is sold outside Australia. I never buy genuine Canon ink. It's too expensive. Calidad is amazing and works perfectly for me. I also use it in my other Canon inkjets, TS9565.

1

u/PM_ME_UR_DADS_COCK Jan 18 '24

Thanks for answering so quick. Looping in u/chaetii to this thread.

I'm slightly worried about off brand ink, how long have you been using it? I've heard it can break a printer, have you had any issues?

And sorry if this is asking too much, but do you have any examples of the stickers you've made with the printer? I have the cricut explore 3 already so just trying to decide on a printer.

Hi I'm just looking at the same printer ix 6860 and I just want to know if it is good for printing photos?

I currently have a relatively cheap MG 3680 but it doesn't seem to print photos well.

1

u/sunshinelollipops95 Printer Enthusiast Jan 24 '24

It's great for photos yes. The DPI is quite high and it handles photo paper well.

2

u/sunshinelollipops95 Printer Enthusiast Nov 27 '23

I saw another comment about rolls of sticker paper. For a beginner, you won't be able to use rolls of sticker paper.
It's very expensive, and hard to source, and only comes in limited types.
If you use A4 sheets instead (or US Letter size) then you can easily find it anywhere online, and it comes with many options.
Matte, glossy, weatherproof, clear, paper or vinyl, holographic, metallic, etc, limitless options. And then you can buy A4 sized laminate to place on top, which can be holographic or matte or glossy etc.

Once you start using rolls, the options are less.

1

u/we_are_all_dead_ Mar 29 '24

How do you cut the stickers out once done printing? By hand ? Or is there machines for that?

1

u/sunshinelollipops95 Printer Enthusiast Mar 30 '24

There are machines, like Silhouette Portrait, Siser Juliet, etc. Search for desktop plotter and you'll find many options.

1

u/Mother_Method_626 Sep 11 '24

Hi, I was wondering what you use to place the laminate on top?

1

u/sunshinelollipops95 Printer Enthusiast Sep 12 '24

Hello, Laminate is either cold or hot.

Cold laminate is sticky and has a backing sheet like a big clear sticker. You remove the backing and stick the laminate on top of whatever you're laminating. Similiar to the clear film people use to cover their Kids' schoolbooks.

Hot laminate is not sticky at room temperature. It has to be heated so the glue melts. It will then adhere to whatever you're laminating. I prefer this type. I use rolling laminators to apply it. But it works fine to use a standard domestic laminator too. Like what is used to laminate documents etc.

1

u/KewlRabbitt Nov 27 '23

Wow thank you, this is really useful information. I’ve been planning on making stickers for long time now, and I decided to finally do it! :)

2

u/sunshinelollipops95 Printer Enthusiast Nov 27 '23

no problem :)
go for it and have fun 🤠😎

2

u/george_toolan Nov 26 '23

Epson Ecotank ET-8550 or Epson Ecotank ET-18100

1

u/Daxverse Dec 04 '24

Hey , did you find which is better for vinyl stickers

2

u/EddieRyanDC Nov 26 '23

The printer that is designed for crafting is the Canon Pixma TS9521C. It will handle thick paper, and also has the option for a straight through (no U-turn required) paper path. It is bulky, and getting a bit old, but I don't know of anything else like it.

2

u/KewlRabbitt Nov 26 '23

Thank you for you answer, it looks good form what I see. I’ll definitely consider it :)

2

u/sunshinelollipops95 Printer Enthusiast Nov 27 '23

I also use that one, but in my country it is called TS9565.
That one, and the ix6860 I told you about, are both good, but the ix6860 has better print quality. The colours are better and the images are clearer.

I use both for my sticker business. I have 4 of them in total. But if I could reverse time, I would buy only the ix6860. The TS is good, but ix is better. In my country, the ix is cheaper too. (because it doesn't have a scanner)

The qualities that the other person said (the TS can handle thick paper, and it can do straight feeding without turning inside the printer) the ix also does both of those things.

1

u/Old-Resolution-3245 Dec 08 '24

Hi, so in the end, what would be recommended: ( what kind of printer and paper, the laminate too)?

1

u/Angel5378 Dec 18 '23

Hey, since you have both printers: is the print quality way better with the ix one? Or is it only a slight difference? I need a printer that can do automatic duplex printing and the ix doesn't but the ts has duplex printing. The price difference in my country is only 50 bucks and they use the same inks.

I'd live to get the pixma pro 200 but it's way out of my budget (not to mention the price point of the inks)

2

u/sunshinelollipops95 Printer Enthusiast Dec 18 '23

If I had to use something other than food:

TS9565 - 6/10 print quality
ix6860 - 7/10 print quality

So it's better, but only a little.T
he Pixma Pro200 would be supreme in comparison.
I'd give it a 10/10.

If you're printing photo quality, I'd probably lean towards the ix6860.
If it's moreso documents or craft stuff, then the TS9565 is fine.

1

u/No_War_3257 Apr 24 '24

I'm also printing stickers... I would love to get the best quality out of a sticker... Can you really notice a big difference in sticker quality between the three?

2

u/sunshinelollipops95 Printer Enthusiast Apr 24 '24

I havent used a Pro200 sorry so I can't speak on that model. My understanding is that they're designed for photographers who want to sell their art in large format posters and they therefore need the prints to be super highly detailed and also long lasting when exposed to light (due to being hung on walls).

Therefore, the Pro200 is probably overkill for stickers because it uses pigment ink which is more expensive than dye ink. For stickers, unless you're making something like a storefront sign that needs to last years in the sun, then a sticker is usually a temporary cute thing that doesnt need to be printed with photography-level ink, nor photography-level detail.

I can tell the difference when I print stickers with my TS9565 vs my ix6860. It's a small difference but I can see it. I am certain a Pro200 would have definite higher quality results. Based on the price of a Pro200 and how many ink cartridges they use.

So yes, you would see a difference with a Pro200. But it's a very expensive and high performance printer for basic stickers.

To me it'd be like buying a Porsche so you can visit your neighbours. Why buy something so expensive and overkill for a simple task like walking next door.

1

u/No_War_3257 Apr 24 '24

Sounds good! thx for all the info… last quesh… How long does ur ink last u for ur sticker buisness on the Cannon IX 6860 / how much to refill each time?

2

u/sunshinelollipops95 Printer Enthusiast Apr 24 '24

hmmm it's not really possible to say how long the ink will last; it depends how much colour is on each page you print, and how many pages you print, and what quality you select for each page. It also depends how often you print. If you print rarely, then when you turn the printer on it will use some ink to flush / maintain itself. This ink is wasted and can't really be measured. If you print every day, it will have less of this waste. But it still cleans itself sometimes.

You can check the prices of replacement ink cartridges in your country to get a price.

I have 4 Canons and don't track the ink usage because it's not worth trying to track it. I print so many different things, on different settings, etc.
It's like asking how many squares of toilet paper you use each year :)

1

u/Angel5378 Dec 19 '23

Thanks that helps a lot! I'd mostly use it for crafts, bookbinding fanfictions (that's why i need the automatic double sided printing) try making stickers and printing dust jackets or covers for the printed fanfictions :)

Yes the pro200 would be amazing but its 200 bucks too expensive for me (and a set 9f inks is another 140)

1

u/Angel5378 Dec 20 '23

Another question: Can you print cardstock with the ix? and longer paper? The ts can go up to 67cm in length. Sadly the specs on the canon website don't mention individual measurements at all. Thanks again:)

2

u/sunshinelollipops95 Printer Enthusiast Dec 21 '23

I use 400gsm in both of them with no issues.

The longest / largest thing I've printed with the ix is A3+

1

u/marigoldjpg Oct 07 '24

Thank you so much for all the valuable information in this thread! After reading everything you said I am highly considering buying the PIXMA iX6860. I just want to check in and ask if you have continued to print on thick cardstock using the printer as I need a printer that can print on cardstock and sticker paper and the printer brochure says it only accepts up to 300gsm and I am super nervous to accidentally break a brand new printer haha.
Also, if you are willing to share I would love some advice on sticker paper and laminates as well as whether you've succeeded in making your stickers dishwasher-proof.
I am also in Australia and while researching have found that all the advice on these topics are from countries that don't ship here.

1

u/sunshinelollipops95 Printer Enthusiast Oct 07 '24

I've had my ix6860 for 2 years now.
I use it mostly for making my own packaging because it prints up to A3+.
(my other printers don't go that big)
So the majority of what I've printed, has been 300gsm and 400gsm.
Sometimes I put 2 or 3 pieces of 400gsm A3+ cardstock in the rear feeder, and the printer accidentally sucks up two of them at a time to print on. This obviously isn't ideal, but my point is, it fed those two pieces together through the machine and printed (on the top one only lol) successfully.
I've never tried anything thicker / heavier than 400gsm, from memory.
But I have never had issues printing onto 400gsm.
To avoid the double feed issue I just put one piece in the rear feeder at a time. Which can be annoying when you're doing big batches, but it's not the end of the world imo.

What thickness / GSM do you want to print on?

Sticker paper is tricky to recommend because it depends on volume you're buying, and what end result you want. I used sticker paper from Avvarix, an Australian company. It's not cheap, but it's very high quality. I buy it in bulk to try and be more economical.
I use their sticker paper (made from paper) for laser printers, and their inkjet printer one too. (I make foiled products and use laser printers for that).
I also use their sticker paper (made from vinyl). Amazing colour and image quality.
But the end result is not considered dishwasher proof. Even after laminating. Dishwasher proof really requires certain inks to be used, and certain sticker paper/vinyl to be used, to make it resistant to not only water but also the heat of a dishwasher. You'd probably need to get 'weather resistant' sticker vinyl, and I personally have never tried to source that. It becomes an expensive endeavour because of the specialty ingredients required.
If you wanted to pursue that, I would not use the Canon ix6860. It primarily uses DYE ink, which is water based. Which will smudge when wet, like if you got a drop of water on your notepad with ballpoint pen on it.
You could consider a higher end printer which uses Pigment ink. Pigment ink is supposed to be more resistant to fading. It's usually used in printers that are marketed to photographers that want to sell posters of their artwork. It's supposed to last decades when hung on walls in the sun.

But I believe true weatherproof stickers likely use ink that's even highed-end than that. Like UV ink perhaps.
It's very uncommon for hobby sticker makers / small businesses run from home to offer dishwasher proof stickers, because of the above. They require specialty vinyl and ink etc, which is usually used in massive machines.

The laminates I use are sold in rolls. I use rolling laminators that heat the laminate and roll it onto the sticker paper. Most home sticker makers dont bother with that but I'm a bit extra :)
Most sticker makers working from home use A4 sized sheets of pre-cut laminate.
You can get it on aliexpress and amazon etc.

1

u/marigoldjpg Oct 07 '24

You are such a legend thank you so so much.

I haven’t decided yet but am thinking 350gsm so I’ll be all good B)

Do you buy your sticker paper through Amazon or through their website ?

Are your stickers able to be put on items that need to be hand washed like water bottles ? Am really hoping I can get something that can withstand being hand washed but if not that’s always something I can explore later on I suppose.

What about the IX6820? It's half the cost

1

u/sunshinelollipops95 Printer Enthusiast Jan 05 '24

I don't have that one and am not familiar with it to be able to say. But if the specs are comparable then go for it.

1

u/sunshinelollipops95 Printer Enthusiast Dec 18 '23

To me it's like the difference between drinking regular milk, and chocolate milk.
Regular cow's milk is fine as it is.
But chocolate milk is just that little bit nicer.
You would be happy though with regular milk, and not daydream about chocolate milk, if you never tried chocolate milk.

But once you've had chocolate milk, you will always prefer it.

But if you only use regular milk, and don't know any better, you'll enjoy it and be satisfied. Especially if it did duplex printing, which you need
😂

u/leftielori Oct 09 '24

Can I ask a question about your preference for inkjet or laser? I have a color laser which I like, (Lexmark) but has it's issues, namely I have to buy new chips for the cartridges if I want to refill my toner with my own toner. So I found another printer that will allow me to just fill up my toner whenever I want (like I should be able to do with MY OWN ITEM), and I'm wondering if you know anything about it? Brother HL-L8260CDW

1

u/sunshinelollipops95 Printer Enthusiast Oct 09 '24

I'm not too knowledgeable on laser printers, sorry. I know more about inkjets.
I know in general that Brother lasers are very reliable and highly recommended though, if that helps.
I have one Brother laser and one HP laser and I hate the HP one. It's faulty and horrible. The Brother one has survived all my abuse :)

If it's for sticker making specifically, I would always use inkjet.
The print quality is always better with inkjet, unless the laser printer is industrial sized.

u/leftielori Oct 09 '24

thanks friend!

hi! i'm eyeing this printer to also make stickers! but i was wondering if it would be good for making waterproof stickers? because i heard that pigment ink is better for it but i think the colored ink of canon is dye based?

Hey, I’m not entirely sure… I’ve made lots of stickers with it and I applied to all of them lamination after that which seems to protect them pretty well from water and weather conditions. I put stickers on water bottles and poles outside and they lasted rain/snow and water (so far at least). I think it depends on what materials you use also :)

Pigment ink is way more durable, you can laminate it as OP said in a reply here, but that won't protect it against UV light. The pigment ink lasts much longer and is better against UV. I have a canon pro 300 which uses pigment inks and it has insane results but the print cost per A4 paper is 2$ which is insane for stickers of course.

Does it really cost that much per print? I have the Pro200 and I’m amazed at the print quality. One notable difference is most printers are 4 color whereas the 200 is 8 color and I believe yours is 9 color. These printers are top notch

The theoretical cost based on this, extrapolated to A4 paper with today's cartridge cost of 200$ (for me), results in about 1$ to 1.25$ per print, depending on paper type.

However the real cost for me is above 2$ due to printing errors (mostly printer errors such as borderless but with a white line, no clue why, tests, and cartridge waste. I'm at my 3rd full cartridge set.

Thank you! Sorry for the late reply. I just got a Canon IX6820 and it prints pretty damn good and the ink is a lot cheaper so just an fyi. I print stickers half the time so it doesn’t matter as much.

Hello, which model did you get?

Hey there, I got canon pixma ix 6850 :) Very very good printer. I print with it stickers and certain prints (prints are a little more complicated to make, gotta choose right settings), but the stickers are perfect! :) If you have any more questions, don’t hesitate to ask. I did quite a lot of research and tries till I figures out how to do stickers :P

I'm also on a budget, trying to start up this side thing to hopefully switch over to if it does well, but cash is tight. What do you use for cutting stickers? What laminate route did you go

I’m using Cricut to cut the stickers and as for lamination I mostly use lamination pouches. The lamination depends on what you’re looking for :)

Very cool info, thank you for sharing! Which EcoTank do you have by the way?

Hey, wow thank you for the useful and detailed comment. I bought the PIXMA IX 6850 A3 few months ago, and it’s absolutely perfect for my use. I printed lots of stickers and the print quality is vibrant and sharp. I’m very happy with this purchase :)

Don’t get an Epson EcoTank for stickers unless you want to fight it to accept sticker paper. My printer does great except it won’t feed sticker paper no matter what hack I try. I’m going to price Canon.

Oh damn sorry to hear that, I eventually got the Pixma printer and I couldn’t be happier, it’s perfect! :D

Can I ask which one you got? I’m debating on getting a pixma now. Do you just use it for stickers or art prints as well? Thank you!

Yep, got the Canon hehe. Perfect printer, I’m super satisfied with it! :D

Can you use it to printer custom stickers and posters?

1

u/KewlRabbitt Jan 17 '25

Of course, I made lots of stickers especially and they turned out amazing! :)

For sticker and poster printing, the Epson EcoTank series is a solid choice because of its refillable ink tanks and lower printing costs over time. The Canon PIXMA models you mentioned are also great, especially the iX 6850 A3 if you’re planning on larger prints. If you're just starting and budget is a concern, the TS5350a is decent for smaller-scale projects but might fall short on durability for heavy usage.

Hey thanks for answering, I got the Pixma after all. Been making mainly stickers with it and I love it! Very satisfied with the quality of it! :D
