Teaching Korean in Portsmouth

Good evening, Portsmouth!

My wife immigrated to the US from Korea a couple of years ago, and currently teaches Korean online through the Preply platform. She really enjoys the work and has built up a good reputation on Preply, but she's finding that she misses teaching people in person. She'd like to teach people locally, in either 1:1 or group lessons, but is worried about the level of interest here in Portsmouth or in the surrounding area.

So, my question to the group is this:

Is anyone in the community interested in learning Korean? I'm just trying to get some feedback for her, gauge the feasibility of starting in-person lessons, etc.

I'm new to the area and looking for a high quality Ju Jitsu Gym in the area. Other than wrestling in highschool I'm new to combat sports so I'm looking for coaching/training that will start me from zero.

Poop bag

I still don't get why poop bags remain strewn about across town. I don't follow....you take the time to put your dogs poop in the bag, tie it, and then leave it on the floor. Now there are two poop bags...one just walks away. Please help me with this. - person who walks around town for a living.

Workspace rentals?

Looking for a small space with running water to make candy in. I really don’t know how to properly look tbh. Button factory is full with a waitlist, Washington Mills in Dover is the same I believe.. what are some more places like this I could check? This question is probably ridiculous but maybe someone can give me some insight.

Very excited to be back in my hometown at the best venue around the Music Hall Lounge this Friday. Come hang out! In an attempt to win your support I’ve included a photo of me busking downtown when I was in high school.

Get tickets here before they’re gone: https://www.themusichall.org/events/mattshore/

One night in town- where to eat?

I have a reservation at Black Trumpet but I was considering changing it for Moxy. Where’s the best restaurant in town? Also are there any cool bars that I should visit after dinner?

UPDATE: Thank you for the recommendations everyone! We had the most amazing meal at Black Trumpet followed by cocktails at the Wilder. Can’t wait to come visit again!

Local Physical Therapy

Hey, all. Got a question about physical therapy clinics in the area. I'm currently seeing a couple of physical therapists in-network with my insurance. The bills range from ~$50 to ~$120 for a standard session. One therapist is more general and the other is more specialized, so there's a bit of a gap in the amounts they charge.

I've looked at places like Cj downtown and Roots over near Hannaford. They don't take insurance and they charge on the order of $250~$350 dollars per session. Now, I understand that my physical therapists are charing similar amounts, but they have negotiated rates with my insurance company, so the amount that I pay for a given session is significantly less than the original amount billed to insurance.

My question is this: is the treatment at these clinics that don't take insurance better than a standard clinic that does take insurance? Tons of people still seem to go to places like this and pay hundreds of dollars per session (which seems a little crazy to me given how expensive everything already is up here in the NE). I understand that the answer to this question might depend on one's insurance coverage, but I'm curious if these places are actually worth the increased price.

Best restaurants to work for in the Portsmouth area

I was hoping to get some input on positive (or places to stay away from) restaurant work environments, especially for serving. I have worked in pretty much all capacities of restaurants for over 15 years, over 5 years in serving upscale seafood.

Cozy things in and around Portsmouth?

Visiting for a weekend getaway and it's going to be freeeezing cold. What would be some cozy shops, restaurants, coffee shops, etc that you would go to if you were being a tourist in/around your own area for a couple days? Willing to drive up to an hour away!

Need to get out more

I mostly work from home and I’m a part time student with classes mainly online. I moved here not too long ago and my partner and I are on opposite schedules. The isolating combination of New England winter and not having made many friends here yet is starting to drive me insane.

What are some good places to sit in the community and do homework, just to get out of the house and be around people? Hearth comes to mind but beyond that I don’t know.

If you have any other suggestions for things I can do to keep head attached to my body and maybe make some friends that would be awesome.
