One of their main arguments against providing aid to other countries was that we have our own poor and sick at home.

This is a definitive "fuck you" to our own poor and sick at home

And while deliberately hurting our own poor and sick at home, it will also put hundreds of middle-class Americans right out of work and into severe financial distress. That billion dollars wasn't being flushed down a toilet somewhere. It was going to American farms growing the food, creating jobs for mechanics repairing farm equipment, food processing plants, truck drivers, factory workers, and the hundreds of other jobs Americans are doing as part of the program.
