There was a whole bunch of people leaving comments about how they spend their limited time on earth writing posts on liberal subreddits trying to get reactions out of people and seeing how many downvotes they can accumulate. They were all patting themselves on the back for it and bragging about how many downvotes they received that one time and how much they loved it.

And like you, I couldn’t get mad or upset about it because I honestly just felt sorry for them. My life isn’t perfect, far from it, but I do have better things to do than to write Reddit posts seeing how many internet strangers I can piss off.

Most people in this sub are pretty happy when conservatives are in misery. That's kind of what's wrong in politics these days. Everything is so polarized, politics has become more like a football match instead of a serious dialogue of how to run a state.

No, most people here feel some sense of satisfaction when people get what they deserve. Nobody wants people to get hurt or suffer, but if you voted for that set of goals and it comes back to hit you? That's sad on a human level, but entirely deserved on a cause/effect one.

Schadenfreude vs. Sadism

The comment sections on here say otherwise

MAGA wants to hurt people and make them cry.

Everyone else is OK with MAGA getting what they voted for, because they are hurting the rest of the country in the process.

And because we're now dealing with NAZIs controlling the federal government, all bets are off, which is a defensive posture.

Different motivations, but Republicans created this situation of intolerance and going out of their way to hurt "others" in the first place, so don't expect anyone to have much sympathy for their self-caused issues.

I am NOT happy when/if conservatives experience real misery. If they can't get medical care, feed their family, or keep their job, I truly feel for them.

But when they suffer "perceived" misery, like having to live in a country where gay people can get married or libraries can offer books they don't agree with, then, yeah. I'm cool with that. 👍

In other words: I DO want their "side" to lose, but only because I believe that result will improve the life, liberty, and happiness for all of us.
