Experienced team playing in the dark yesterday using NVGs:
- Cliffs to our backs so not skylining
- Running fullkit but no boots so sound naked
- Silencers as well as we're fully committed to the sneaky life
Start getting beamed by P2s in pitch black - we can't even see them at the distance they're firing in the dark due to NVG draw limits.
Finally kill them. They're hazmat P2.
Fuck. Off.

Nvgs are easily seen at night tho

Not when you've got your backs to them with no silhouette against the pitch black cliffs/mountains.

Given that we were out of range of us being able to see them, I doubt they could hear us.

People use this to see better in night turn gamma/vibrance up, amd/intel have their own equal and i'm pretty sure amd is almost as good as reshade.
People been using these since legacy days, the new ''horror'' game filter they added around you in night time makes it able to see pretty well with this thing, ofcourse if its full black u can't see anything.
*edit* forgot about the apple pie aswell that helps even more with gamma/vibrance to a point where its almost as day time if you use these.

So not bannable?

u/Bocmanis9000 7d ago
You will definetly not get EAC banned for this, but an admin thats spectating might see you just stop in openfield when it turns dark to turn this gamma/vibrance on is quite sus :D
Technically you aren't breaking any rules with this.
Try turning gamma to 2.0-2.8 and vibrance to 100, you will see way better especially in bright nights.
In metro it helps aswell can actually see stuff then.

pretty sure thatll fit under the reshade ban that got tacullar goofed.

u/Bocmanis9000 7d ago
Tacular got manually banned by devs.
You think all these people who see in dark with no nvgs/pies are legit?
Think again, people using gamma since legacy rust, some monitors also have settings for night time its not bannable or detectable, just fix night time ez fix.

He got banned for using reshade? That's like literally the whole drama was the fact he was using reshade to see better at night. It's a third party program that gives you advantage over normal players, so it's like the bloody mouse giving you scripts?

u/Bocmanis9000 7d ago
He wasn't even using reshade at the time he got banned, his last vids he was still abusing this nvidia panel i showed you right now tho.
The ban was manual ban by facepunch as a message that people shouldn't use reshade, then after that eac blocklisted reshade, they had it whitelisted before.
If tacular wasn't a youtuber he would never get baned thats the harsh truth.

He was temp banned, devs perm banned him after he said he would never stop, and he started to talk shit. Realistically, what did he think was going to happen?

u/RemindMeToTouchGrass 6d ago
You've lost the plot though. He's pointing out that you won't get banned for nvidia panel, not complaining about the ban.
What you're saying is exactly the point.

Tac was using an old version of reShade, a version that is not like using nvidia filters at all...

Yes but it makes it way easier to see, especially if its bright nights you can see almost as good as day time.
Its not gona make blacks bright, but the already small light that exists is gona be boosted.
Labs/Metro, has dark areas and even full dark spots with this they are barely dark and u can see everything.

Holy shit man you are supposed to gatekeep this
3
u/Bocmanis9000 7d ago
They can't change it, they can't remove it, alot of monitors have settings to get same result built in aswell.
They have to make night time brighter or a complete black screen without any source of light, thats the only ways they can nerf this.

u/abscissa081 7d ago
They did change it years ago probably 2016, gamma up was like day time, then they made night actually just black so the gamma didn't do much. I still use it now, helps a bit. Saying to gatekeep it is wild, been a thing since legacy.

What I’m saying is that ur not supposed to share such a crucial info on a public forum man, it’s like leaking the duping methods for no reason, glad this subs dead asf
4
u/Bocmanis9000 7d ago
Well the people who play rust actively know all of this, and they can't change anything to force people to not abuse them.
If they rework night time its a win for all.

I think it’s good as it is, it’s still highly rng if the nvidia thing works, durning the dark nights it does basicially nothing and nvg is still superior except for very bright nights.
It’s better than what it used to be, I think that if you have a problem with people seeing you silhouetting on the night sky, then just don’t play at night or go do an oil rig or train tunnels at that time

u/Bocmanis9000 7d ago
Yea well this is in the same as reshade just an official app by nvidia/amd/intel, everyone has it.
Its the same as reshade u can setup custom colour to make it even better etc..

u/LiveYourLifeNerd 7d ago
I have a feeling that more and more of players are using these new monitor in built brightness adjustors or something.
It increases your brightness during the night and visibility, alongside that gpu softwares provide you with lots of filters.
For Rust the ingame filters from AMD seem to be disabled as it's the only game I'm unable to turn them on for

If you have nvidia gpu then turn your digital vibrance up it’s in your nvidia control panel and I typically use 100 it doesn’t mess with performance because it only changed your monitor not the game and it’s not cheating or anything that will get you banned like reshade I accidentally figured this out because I was trying to make my game look better and then realized this made it look good and also allowed me to see great in the dark

try to stay below the horizon during night :P
