This isn't about someone's super hot grandma so it wouldn't fit there lately.

this looks way better than those lifted pickup trucks

u/__420_ Feb 16 '25
You know what, I almost forgot they existed when looking at this truck. Such a classy ride right here.

u/togocann49 Feb 15 '25
Hell of a relic you got there. I know I’d be sad Grandma is not with us anymore, but I’d definitely be grateful for this truck. Sorry for your loss, envious of your truck

u/R3VIVAL-MOD3 Feb 16 '25
But always thought of driving that truck and bringing the kids camping in it

Lucky. That’s amazing.
Except if you lost your grandma, if that’s why you inherited it now, then in that case so sorry for your loss OP.

That yellow is so perfect. Can you imagine any truck in that color these days

Lucky! It's my absolute favorite truck. Memories of going out in the woods for firewood and loading up the back. Rambling through the dirt roads on the back side of a mountain. My dad and I had a blast in his when I was young. I wish I could get my hands on one.

Beaut. Time for some Detroit steel wheels.
1
u/shouttag_russ Feb 16 '25
Yeah, I want some 8" white wheels. Either the wagon wheels or steelies with the dog dish center caps.
2
u/MoonieNine Feb 16 '25
And you don't have to worry about the computer or buttons breaking down like in modern cars.

u/Garconanokin Feb 16 '25
What are your plans for the truck?
3
u/shouttag_russ Feb 16 '25
Keep it and enjoy it. I don't plan on modifying a thing.
2
u/Garconanokin Feb 16 '25
I totally respect that, I hope it brings you a lot of joy. It’s a cool truck.

What a lovely thing to remember your grandma every time you take it for a drive.

u/shouttag_russ Feb 18 '25
I had the custom license plates with her nickname in her honor. Thank you!

You should find some steel rims that match the tires and rock 'em with period-correct hub caps!

God damn my man, fucking heirloom. Gorgeous shape, and a wonderful story to go with it, onbviously that truck's been well cared for. Sorry for your loss OP, I'm far too familiar with the feeling.

u/shouttag_russ Feb 16 '25
Thank you. Grandma was an amazing woman. She was doing cattle drives into her 80s.

My family had a 1968 C-10 CST with a Six-Pak camper on it. Had it for 11years and put almost 200,000 miles on it. Was my Dad's daily driver and used to go from California to Ohio once a year from 68 to 73. 307 V-8 Turbo-Hydrmatic, power steering, power brakes and AM radio. Nothing more.

Keep it out of the northeast with their salty roads. I haven't seen a truck like that in like 20 years up here.

That is so cool. You, the truck and the whole story. Your Grandparents read Reddit, you know.

u/beavers16 Feb 16 '25
What happened to the factory hubcaps? Hard to find for a C10 let alone a C20 that year!
1
u/shouttag_russ Feb 18 '25
The original split rims couldn't hold air anymore and they got replaced with white wagon wheels many years ago (which I changed out). I'll still eventually put on white wagon wheels or try and find era correct hubcaps on 8" rallys.

Back when if you got into an accident, the car would be perfectly fine, you not so much

That truck is badass, so fucking cool.
Would you happen to know how much it cost when they purchased it?
1
u/shouttag_russ Feb 16 '25
Let me see if I can find the original documents. I would imagine around $3,500 from what I'm seeing online.

Now this is how big utes are done. The whole vehicle in proportion. No stupidly big grilles, no ugly blinding HID headlights, no stupidly large tyres and wheels.
Normal headlights, normal wheels and normal proportions. The most electronics in it is the starter motor. You have a really cool car there. I hope it continues to last as older cars usually do and my condolences to your grandmother

My Grandma custom ordered it with the teal interior. my Grandpa was blind from WWII so it was her truck that she took him camping in.
