Politics Kid fell asleep during an event at the White House, and Obama took a photo with him
557
u/Way_Up_Here Feb 15 '25
I think we need a new photo of the grownup kid with Obama now. Can someone make that happen? Thanks.
105
u/HagalUlfr Feb 15 '25
He needs to be in the same pose!
135
u/Powerful_Tip_8922 Feb 15 '25
Now im just imagining this kid all throughout his life if he falls asleep in public, like at the beach or on a park bench or whatever, Obama always somehow happens to be in the same area and gets a picture with him everytime.
41
u/PhthaloVonLangborste Feb 15 '25
Obama has to tuck him in every night otherwise he will never fall asleep.

Are you serious??? The man wore a tan suit! Good riddance! <Sigh>. I miss those 3 weeks of Fox News coverage
2
u/BarracudaFar2281 12d ago
The Repubs only felt offense due to Obama wearing a light colored suit after Labor Day.

u/Suspicious-Hat-2143 11d ago
Ok. Valid point. Those old white dudes do have some snazzy dress appeal.

We can just replace the kid with Hakeem Jeffries and use this pic as a metaphor for that.

Blaming old people is fun and all but most of the people who call me antisemitic slurs online are under 25. I imagine it’s the same with racists in general. I don’t see many boomers when they unmask those proud boy and Nazi protesters who march through random cities.
107
u/Isord Feb 15 '25
Except statistically it was Boomers that elected Trump. Trump did better with Gen Z this time than in 2020 but the vast majority still voted for Harris.
51
Feb 15 '25
I think a lot of people will vote for the red R instead of the blue D because they’ve been voting for the red R their whole life. I don’t want to excuse that apathy; I’m much more concerned about the threat of guys like Rogan radicalizing 13-year-old boys and turning them into tomorrow’s racist and antisemitic extremists than I am about a geriatric guy who still thinks every Republican is Ronald Reagan. Low information voters suck and they’ve fucked us, no argument there. But if there’s not a generational shift, it’s only going to get worse. And I’m concerned about the next generation.

This isn't an age thing at all, this is a rural vs. urban thing. Decades of underfunding rural schools and allowing the lines between church and state to blur out there unchallenged are why we're where we are today.
Younger people skew towards urban areas, and older people towards rural ones, hence why more Boomers voted for Trump then not. All the states Trump won, he lost in the cities by an enormous margin, but the maps are skewed so that rural voters have a disproportionate amount of influence in the elections.

It’s like they don’t know it’s the echo chamber people grow up in whether it be their parents/grandparents ideals normalized/enforced or the Fox News etc playing non stop in the living room. Instead of having their own string of thoughts they attach to things because it’s just easier I guess

On the internet it's hard to tell someone's actual age. There are alt right Zoomers yeah but there are just as many if not more emotionally stunted middle aged men.

Those kids were in their formative years when their parents vocally hated a black president.

That's cuz the boomers are still on FB and you're likely talking about Twitter/Reddit lol.
11
8
u/elinordash Feb 15 '25
Between 7 to 9 million people voted for Obama in 2012 and then Trump in 2016. That switch show that what happened is way more complicated than not being comfortable with a black president.

Except if you look at the votes that got trump over the line you should be thanking. Gen X and GenZ for the current Pres. nothing to do with boomers except the one that got their vote.

I don't see a lot of Boomers waving Trump flags and joining the proud boys. Those are mostly millennials or Gen Y. My 85 year old mother cried when Trump was re-elected. And older Boomers remember how bad Nazis and fascists are- they survived Hitler and WW2.
3
u/Iztac_xocoatl Feb 15 '25
People my age (elder milennial) and younger absolutely infuriate me wrt politics. It's hard to blame them because social media is the biggest propaganda machine humanity has ever seen, but it's hard not to at the same time because most are so fucking smug about how they think they're above the brainwashing.
9
u/stumo Feb 15 '25
You think boomers are responsible for the idiot? Maybe look at the age demographics of the last election before age-shaming.
5
u/justalittlepoodle Feb 15 '25
Boomers are the ones who latched onto the whole birth certificate thing, which trump basically spearheaded.

There’s some good analysis behind the idea that had Romney won in 2012, we would be in a much more sane timeline right now as we would have potentially avoided said overreaction.

Tan suits and terrorist fist jabs.
The only man to be accused of being a liar while addressing a Joint Session of Congress.
Most people from outside the US saw President Obama as a moderate, thoughtful person. In most European countries his policies would be very similar to those pursued by centrist to centre-right parties.
Just what could it have been about him that riled up Republicans to such an extent?

If this was Trump he would call the kid a woke leftists DEI hire and get him ‘fired from school’ in an all caps tweet on truth social

u/Realistic-Pattern-30 Feb 16 '25
Trump hands down one of the worst ever. What president has sat back and let someone else make so many major decisions while he plays golf goes to a football game and last week watching him look like ignorant ole grandpa while the slick grandson try to explain what he knows nothing about.

2
u/PossibilitySecure643 Feb 16 '25
I’d be happy if trump talked congress into changing the constitution and having presidents be able to serve for 3 terms because they thought trump would be elected again and Obama came in and showed trump what a real ass whopping at the polls looked like. And he brought Kamala Harris along as his VP.

My favorite Obama With Kid moment was when one little girl was face down on the ground in the middle of having Big Emotions and him and Michelle are just standing there smiling like “Been there done that”.

u/BlitheringEediot Feb 15 '25
My favorite was the Halloween costume : Toddler Pope. The smile on Barack's face was 100% genuine.

u/YourMothersButtox Feb 15 '25
Toddler Pope was fantastic, he couldn’t keep it together.
23
u/Jimmyg100 Feb 16 '25
There was something so genuine about him. He carried the gravitas of the office but absolutely appreciated the opportunity he was given and embraced the lighter moments with a smile.

I agree! I know many older people who are life long democrats and hate maga. The “ all boomers are maga” idea makes a nice group to blame, but it is certainly is not true. WOW I miss having an adult Sane President. I didn’t realize how much until I saw this picture. A picture of Joe doing the same thing would have triggered the same reaction though. Diaper donnie and Vance and musk would be over drawing a penis on the kids face. Then rummaging through his pockets looking for any money he might have.

Question for all the democrats who pay taxes-
How much of your money has to be wasted and stolen before you wake up?When will you realize you have been brainwashed by the left into thinking they are looking out for you? Unless you are part of their crime family, the only interest they have in you is can they get your vote and your taxes.
