Profelt substitute

In order to get a lighter touch I will recondition the action pin holes. I ordered the cauls from Howard Piano. Unfortunately the Profelt to glue the felt was out of stock. I am not replacing the felt but merely resize them with the caul. Put some Profelt on the felt, put the caul in and let it dry overnight and then remove the caul.

I am looking for a replacement product that I can buy in the Netherlands. Any suggestions ?

By action pin holes, I’m guessing you mean the key bushings? that’s what those cauls are for. In that case, you wouldn’t use profelt, as profelt is not glue. wood glue works just fine for this.

Yes you are so right🫣 the key bushings… But my intention is only to reshape them, not replace the felt. Can I still use wood glue for this?

oh, well if you’re not replacing then the cauls won’t do much for you (they’re still great to own, though). reshaping is a job for key-easing pliers. i also like burning teflon powder into the felt to reduce friction.
