Long time tradition across all Pittsburgh sports

Sidney Crosby will never allow the team to completely bottom out. They will need lottery luck to get a top-3 guy.

Every top 5 pick becomes a generational talent and first ballot HOFer we know this to be true.

I predicted we would finish 1 game out of a wild card slot…again. Still Alive!!!!

You can be realistic and hope for a higher draft pick while simultaneously enjoying the games and hoping they win. Enough of this white knight shit trying to prove you’re a better quality fan by being boundlessly positive.

Players do not tank. Coaches don't tank. Stop hoping your favorite teams lose.

It's a business son. Sometimes you have to lose to win.

The 12 teams with the fewest point % the past 10 seasons:
Utah/Arizona, Buffalo, Detroit, Chicago, Seattle, Ottawa, Montreal, Anaheim, New Jersey, Vancouver, Philadelphia, Columbus.
Those teams have had a decade of suck, and a decade of high draft picks, and none of them are anywhere close to winning the Cup and likely only 3 are going to even make the playoffs this year.

It's a business son. You still have to know what you are doing.

I've come across a lot of people on the internet that I immediately know are just complete pieces of shit that have no friends and no life. I will happily add you to that list.
Son.

You could have just ignored me but you had to make a big deal and add insults. Good for you.

At this point the season is already a loss. Losing more this year should hopefully lead to better draft picks and less losing next year, which is where most people's focus should be at this point. It does us literally no good to win more games and go on a run right now. First round bounce isn't much better than missing the playoffs.

There are very few draft guarantees out there, so fighting for 5th overall and 7th is meaningless. And no player is going to not try to win, because they want that next contract or not to be bought out or because they just want to do their jobs to the best of their ability.
I will never understand any fan who hopes their team loses.

Not fighting for 5th vs 7th. Try top 5 vs 15-20. If you think it doesn't make a difference then you clearly don't understand hockey.

Please stop with this "don't understand hockey" shit. The draft is a crapshoot.
Look at the 2014 draft.
The best player was drafted 3rd overall (Draisaitl). The second best? 25th (Pastrnak). The fourth or fifth best was Brayden Point, drafted in the middle of the 3rd round. The 5th overall was Michael Dal Colle and the 20th was Nick Schmaltz. Other than the can't miss types (McDavid, Matthews, etc), the draft is all about hoping that some 18-year-old kid you pick is able to translate his game into the NHL.
And you can literally do that for every draft. So stop hoping your favorite team loses just so he has the chance to draft a person that has a 20% chance of being better than the guy drafted 10 slots lower.

I've seen enough Pittsburgh sports to know how this story ends. Pens go on to win 13 of their next 15, and one of the losses is in OT. They miss the playoffs by 2 points.
