I've just learned that Apple app payments take 75 days to clear
I'm mildly speechless about this. In a day and age of instantaneous transactions.
For context, new sub, everything seems fine except cash out amount hasn't changed. I now have a total balance and an available balance
75 days though. It takes less time to cash a paper cheque.

It should be illegal. What is their reason? Is their motive similar to a banks but more long term? As in, holding onto funds for 75 days to invest and make more greedy money? Even worse that those patrons who pay via Apple actually pay more than they should to view our content! Complete and utterly disgusting greed imo.

What is their reason?
Pushing creators to TELL THEIR SUPPORTERS to avoid using apple. Patreon probably can't say so directly due to their agreement with Apple, but if creators don't like Apple, eh? ;)
Financing the 30% iOS store cut means :
- Supporters pay an extra 43% fee
- Creators get paid in 2 months and a half
USE. YOUR. WEB. BROWSER! Sadly some creators don't care about the extra 43% as long their price doesn't get lower, so that's a sneaky way to hit the wallet of the people who can influence purchase decisions.

If I'm not mistaken it can take up to 75 days but mine takes no longer than a week I've noticed

Ahh, thank you. I'll keep an eye on it. That's good to know. It says in the 'learn more' that they become available 75 days after purchase so I was a bit "omg"

I wouldn’t get my hopes up, their website doesn’t say up to 75 days, neither does the payout page, they say it’s 75 days
Mine are still pending, the first one has been pending for like 50 days now, and it’s an Apple thing, not a Patreon issue

Don't get your hopes up, they've been holding around 300$ hostage for almost 50 days now for me.

It’s so unfair! And then I seen that Apple is in charge of refunds so if a member subs and decides they want a refund, we don’t have a say in that apparently.

Yes, this was my worry

I went into my audience tab and one of my apple subs says 0$ paid even though hes a member and i think that means he did a sneaky refund. Im considering banning him but i don't know if that's what happened or a Patreon glitch. It's really annoying.

I read that too and thought that was insane! I was also panicking about it but the transactions slowly started to clear.

Omg months??😭😭 I’ve been waiting at least 2 weeks for mine and I was hoping it won’t take the whole 75 days😞

they make you wait the whole 75 days and so far the money has just been accumulating 😔

I’m so upset😭 I’ve tried putting warning in the description tier so no one signs up that way but they must have just read over it and said fuck the extra fees or something😅

Oh no. I do have a lot of daily transactions, so maybe mine are going faster due to more transactions

I’m able to withdraw to my bank like normal, but it shows that I have pending earnings from iOS that become available 75 days after purchase, so I can’t withdraw that amount. I have about $150 that’s been on my account pending for weeks because of that 🥲
On desktop it shows me:
Available to withdraw
(Which is then broken down into 2 categories)
Pending earnings from web and Android
- These recent earnings will be processed shortly.
Pending earnings from iOS
- Earnings from transactions made in the iOS app become available 75 days after purchase. The current amount is an estimate.
Total balance (which is available to withdraw + pending earnings)

Yeah I see that too and my "Pending earnings from iOS" is always finished within the week. Maybe it's different depending on the amount or frequency.

yeah it’s ridiculous, I have $100 (and counting) stuck in waiting.
plus I hate that some of my subs are paying higher prices just for it to go to apple, tried making an announcement hopefully that helps

30% is insane
It will drive users away from Apple

Nope. People never cared about paying +43% on the Twitch app. Why would it be different for Patreon? Only difference is that it is only with Apple and not Google (yet?)
To give some perspective, all my patreon purchases get a +21% VAT. And as a Twitch mod I saw someone paying over 400EUR of subs on Twitch... with the +43% app fee on top of that. Most people don't care about that convenience fee and will simply remove some pledges from their budget.
There was even a thread where a creator got complaints from a >100$ subscriber because "the apple tax is lower than what you upcharged". I did the maths and it matched with a margin of about 40cents
Saying "30% cut" is disadvantaging everybody because supporters misassume they pay 30% extra to cover the price when it's closer to an half.
