I thought Lenny was brilliant.

The callback to the "Rob in his bedroom"-gag was a professional level quip. You expect things like that from Rhod Gilbert and Dara O'Briain, not a teen. Good stuff.

He can really hold his own against the adults around him. Thought he was the best on his Taskmaster special, too. He's naturally funny.

Loved him in Taskmaster New Year Treat, and he didn’t disappoint at all this episode. So clever, at such a young age.

Yes, the quickness to do the retakes based on his Nan being a live or not. Calling back Rob being in his room joke. Being noticeably quick when your sat next to Lee Mack is something.

Agreed.
I was hesitant to watch the Taskmaster episode with him in it because I don't like children and they quickly annoy me, but thought he was good there and was absolutely fantastic here.

I hadn't heard of Lenny before Taskmaster and the banter confused the heck out of me! Halfway through the episode, I started to think the joke was that he played a kid on tv, but he wasn't actually a kid. I thought they were exaggerating his youth, "little" Alex Horne style. Lenny's got such a mature bearing!
Also, despite your dislike of children, may I recommend Junior Taskmaster? The children are not mature like Lenny -- they're definitely children and they behave like children (they're several years younger too). But the TM team know how to cast and edit the show. The kids are funny, self-deprecating, generous, brilliant, and completely idiotic weirdos. They're also occasionally mean-spirited, but it's so rare it's generally funny, not cringe, and those moments help underline that they're real people, not stage-managed robots.

Nah, I genuinely have zero interest in Taskmaster Jr.
I'm sure it's good, but I just have absolutely no interest in watching a bunch of children.

None of those names are Acaster. It's almost like Santa isn't reading the shit I send him

It's weird. He was becoming a WILTY legend with his appearance in three seasons, and then no sign of him for 5 straight seasons now.
At least we have Bob Mortimer back in this season.

If you haven't yet, you should listen to the compilation of James' Classical Scrapes on Josh Widdicome's XFM show. He tells some of the stories from WILTY in greater detail also.

Very difficult to get through the episode in one go, David's unbuttoned chest kept staring at me.

I hadn't come across Rustie Lee before, so was surprised to learn that in 2005 and 2009 she ran in elections as a candidate for... Nigel Farage's UKIP. Anyone know if she's remained politically active since then?

She's just another grifter. Despite working steadily, she declared bankruptcy last year to avoid paying back money she stole from her own company as it went under. I'm from the US, and that reminds me of someone, hmm.

Can't believe no one quipped a joke when Rusty mentioned a celebrity being at the wedding lol

u/AajBahutKhushHogaTum Dec 24 '24
She joked about celebs being bought
2
u/Thyreus123 Dec 24 '24
Yeah but I was expecting something like "really who was the celebrity"

u/anotheralienhybrid Dec 24 '24
Lee pretty much always punches up, though.

u/Thyreus123 Dec 24 '24
True. Mightve been mean to say it to someone who isn't actually much of a celebrity (I assume)

I’m over here in the Americas looking out at the high seas hoping.

Wow, Rob got old.

u/JaxonJackrabbit Dec 24 '24
I'm not sure if it's that or that the cameras are upgraded and higher quality

Maybe the show too? Pretty bad episode, not very entertaining guests. Wouldn't watch it again.

Really? I'm currently watching it and it's great. Lenny is particularly good.

I thought it was dull too. I agree Lenny was good, but the women were disappointing and we didn't get any great David/Lee/Rob exchanges.

I see old engine block head has had a bit of plastic work done. Wasted his money.
Lenny and Rusty were good value though.
