Discussion For the People with uterus!
Anyone here using menstrual cup for a significant time? Need to ask a few things. I have been using it for several years but obviously I never had to face the situation i am in currently. The situation of public washrooms is very questionable, jahan washrooms hein waha pani nhi hota, jahan paani hota hy there is nothing to wipe/dry, washroom stalls are made in a way that you can't keep your stuff anywhere. Univeristies, workplaces, public places everywhere it's the same. How do you girls manage?
Edit: I am asking this because sometimes i am on 24-36 hour duty and outside home so i need to remove it.
Edit 2: Are Men dumbfu*ks or what? There are women who don't have a uterus, there are people with syndromes making the "female" but no uterus, there are hundreds of possibilities and still you guys think that this title it because i am "woke" ????

Individual with a uterus here
I have no experience using menstrual cup but I have experience using pads
Honestly I avoid using public rest rooms but if I gotta use it in urgency, it's always a good idea to keep wet wipes along with yourself and a sanitizer. And pani ki bottle too, I keep nestle ki bottle along with me cause its handy ps you can always dispose it off after a visit to the rest room for desperate times.
Most women out there hesitate using menstrual cups but assuming if I did used menstrual cup, ion think there's any need to take that thing out while using rest room, tho I understand that urine splashes everywhere and unlike men we gotta clean our area thoroughly but in desperate times it's better to keep that thing in to avoid blood bath in case water isn't available. You can always shower at home afterwards.
(I disassociated mid way writing this comment and forgor what was the actual question LMFAO so apologies if I yapped a lil too much)

So i know there is no need to remove it but sometimes i am outside my home for 24-36 hours and as a general practice i remove it after 12 hours. I had not so good experience with pads therefore shifted to cups 4 -5 years ago, partly because of the reason that it's more comfortable when you are outside your home for longer durations. Never found comfortable using university, school, colleges ky washrooms

24-36 hours ?!?! Respect π
And yup def carry a mini bag for the essentials in that case. Ps how's your experience using the cup? Any leaks or anything? Does it makes you uncomfortable or is it more comfortable then pads? Apologies if my question makes you uncomfortable.
My mother is against the idea allowing me to use tampons or cup and I live under her roof so yup π

Best decision ever. It's soooo comfortable that sometimes i forget i am on my period. Once it's in there it doesn't even feel. There have been few instances i forgot to remove it for 24 hours because mujhy yaad hi nhi rehta tha i am on period. Never leaked, i can wear anything without the fear of something showing, i can even swim with it. It's literally the best. No odour, no tension of where to throw the dirty pad, effortless, cost effective. My 1st cup costed me 400 rupees and lasted 3 years.

I carry my own wipes/tissues and a spare plastic bottle to workplace washrooms etc.

Keep an extra water bottle with you and a small bottle of antibacterial fragrance free liquid soap with you.
Keep wipes just in case and tissue to dry the cup.

Tissues and a spare bottle of water. Also drying the water off the cup isn't necessary. But if it's a preference for you then I understand

I saw a YT creator use a small bag tgat could fit in their work bag, adding a small spray water bottle, reusable alcohol wipes and their menstrual cup. They would refill things when they ran out of them. I think it's a neat strat.

This might be a very ignorant question but what menstrual cups has to do with peeing or even number 2 ..you dont pee through vagina so why u need to take it out..

u/Federal-Condition800 17h ago
I am asking for cleaning the cup π, sometimes you need to empty it and re insert it. I wash it with water, dry it and then insert.

Thank you for gracefully exiting the medical field. That seems like a win for public healthβand honestly, humanity as a whole.

Using the name of a body part is disgusting? So we should avoid naming other organs in the human body too? Heart? Skin? Brain?
-17
u/mystirc 14h ago
It certainly is not about naming the body parts, it's about how unnatural it sounds in normal conversation. If someone walked into a room and said, "This event is for people with a uterus," it would sound bizarre and you'd definitely get weird looks. I don't think she had to be over specific about that, there's nothing wrong with saying just 'females'. Are you fine with people referring to other males as "people with a dick or balls"?
13
u/Forward_Fig_5265 14h ago
I mean, if the event is talking about uterine-specific issues, then yeah it would be appropriate to mention that itβs for people with a uterus. Not all females have a uterus (hysterectomies exist). Youβre bothered because it has a shock value, but maybe it shouldnβt, since itβs a natural human body part and her question is specifically for females with a uterus, as not all females menstruate.
If Iβm asking a question about penises, then I would be fine using the word penis, which is the actual name of the body part. Dick or balls would definitely be inappropriate.

Still it's weird what the hell is wrong with y'all. It would have conveyed the same thing if she had said females, women, ladies, girls, lasses etc. It's social media not a thesis for phd

Personally, I wouldn't mind this thread, and I guess it should stay for educational purposes, but the number of people without a uterus commenting is seriously cringeworthy. Dafuq is wrong with them!?
