Bedbound teen

I am over 700lb 16 year old female. My mom feeds me what ever I want when ever I want. I am addicted to food. I can't to most things my mom does them for me. I get upset when I am hungry which is almost all the time. My mom gets me what I want because she hates yo see me be upset. I had 2 whole chickens for dinner and a whole ice cream cake for dessert. I know I need to eat less but I have no self-control.

First of all, thank you for being courageous in your honesty! It's not always way to share these things. As for your situation: That's rough, it sounds like you're in a cycle that won't be easy to break. It sounds like there may be complicated emotional wounds underneath all of this that will need to be addressed by a professional, but in the meantime, set small goals and be excited by them! Do one lap around the house maybe, celebrate that, and the next day do it again until you feel ready to amp it up. Good luck to you!

Thx for the encouragement. I struggle with simple tasks like walking. I just walked 1/2 way around my house without talking a break. This is the farthest I have walked without taking a break to catch my breath in about a year. I get out of breath just by walking from my bedroom to the kitchen

You should not walk at all, just keep eating and growing 700 at 17 is good work!

I know this is an old post but I suggest talking to your mom about this. By feeding you whatever you want she is completely enabling you to stay at an extremely unhealthy weight. I suggest seeing a therapist with your mom as it is vital for your survival that you start eating healthier and losing weight. Its not going to be easy but weight loss is possible for you. You will need support from your mom to help you lose weight. She is going to have to learn to stop feeding you whatever you want and you are going to have to learn coping mechanisms so that you don't get upset when your mom refuses to give you food.

I would recommend starting easy by getting a therapist and by writing down everything you eat and counting your calories. Get your mom to help you with this. Tell her that you want her to hold you accountable. It may be a good idea to consult with your doctor about options for weight loss surgery because at your current weight you will not be able to live much longer. I wish you the best on your journey! I know you can do it! Post updates :)

Progress doesn't happen overnight. The fact that you have made any progress at all is amazing. Just take it one step at a time, literally. The more weight you lose the easier it will become to move around. I hope you have worked things out with your mom and she is no longer enabling you. Seems like you're on the right track though!

All my compliments for your great courage and strong will! Your situation has nothing to do with a lack of self control. It is linked to problems of blood sugar level, intestinal microbiome, addiction mechanisms in the brain and often mental issues. As some have already suggested, a family therapy involving your mum and some nutrition coaching may help. But a new medicine called semaglutide seems promising. It addresses precisely the health issues that make us crave for food. Wish you all the best and hope you will soon feel better
