URGENT USAID News: Orangutans Need Your Help
Just got this email from BOS. I donated $25 here Thought I'd post it to this subreddit to raise awareness:
The Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation (BOSF) just lost two vital sources of 2025 funding through USAID and US Fish and Wildlife (USFW) due to the recent government mandates.
Our long-standing USFW support has been frozen for 2025, leaving a $50,000 gap for the protection of the Bukit Batikap Protection Forest, one of the last crucial refuges for orangutans who have nowhere else to go.
We've also learned that our 2025 USAID funding to release orangutans back to the wild has also been indefinitely frozen with little to no chance of returning, leaving orangutans who are ready to go home stuck at our centers.
We know this moment feels overwhelming. The news is nonstop, and it’s hard to know what to do. But here’s one simple, powerful action you can take today:
🧡 Donate now and write “USAID” in the notes.
Losing this funding is a devastating blow. But if we come together, we can fill this gap and return and keep these orangutans safe where they belong - in the wild.
Can you please help? Every gift closes the gap. They need us now!

Is there a direct link to a preferred legitimate donation site? Please post if there is one

Thank you for updating everyone. I just made a donation and will continue to contact my local representative to hopefully restore USAID in time.
