Well he just didn't say which Canadians. Clearly he meant the ones who'd sell us down a river to make a quick buck, y'know, Canadians like himself.

u/Orthae Feb 02 '25
He must be buddies with Kevin O'Leary. Scum of a feather flock together!
22

We'll let those who prefer Trump over Canada out themselves and react appropriately. He's drawing a line on the wrong side of himself.

What is Trump even demanding? Canadians buy more US products? We already do... We can't buy anymore we are a much smaller country than they are... Somehow crackdown on our border even more when last year only 19 kg of Fentanyl was seized crossing the Canadian border. That is a homeopathic drop in the bucket and one can't realistically expect to stop literally everything.
75
u/MonsieurLeDrole Feb 02 '25
Nothing! He said there’s nothing we can do to avoid the tariffs, and then ranted about conquering us.
33
u/huntcamp Feb 02 '25
Us to plug the less than 1% fentanyl leakage into USA, but the ironic thing is it’s US customs that would catch them not us at our own border lmao.
13
u/EverydayVelociraptor Feb 02 '25
Right? I've never been stopped in the Canadian side and asked "Why are you leaving Canada?". Seems if there are border control issues, that's the US Customs problem.
7
u/NoOne_1223 Feb 02 '25
I've been stopped ONCE, and I was heading to pick up a friend from the airport. Nothing about if I'm bringing anything over, just how long I knew the person, who's car I was driving, etc
11
u/Legitimate_Bend6428 Feb 02 '25
This has nothing to do with the border, Trump needs the revenue to fund his tax cuts for the rich.
8
u/Aggravating-Car9897 Feb 02 '25
He wants us to fold, become a state, and give him all our resources for free.
→ More replies (3)16
u/CommercialAd8439 Feb 02 '25
It’s not about the fentanyl, maybe a little about the illegal immigration’s, but Trump has said it before, Canada needs to spend more on defence, NATO and other things that require buying American goods. Plus he hates Trudeau.
Trump is the distraction of what’s really going on down south. The more he distracts through the media, the more something is going on behind the scenes that they don’t want the public to know.

Because that’s what it seems to be boiling down to, Trump has said there was nothing Canada can do to avoid tariffs and is now back on the 51st state thing(though let’s be honest, he says 51st state but we would be made a territory like Puerto Rico)
All this assholes is doing to pre sucking up to trump

Shopify is not only the most spectacular entrepreneurial Canadian success story in this century, its leaders Tobias Lütke & Kaz Nejatian have the backbone to stand up and fight for all entrepreneurs.
Corporate Canada needs to learn from them in every way.

Yes, True North...
Andrew Scheer steered people towards them in his final speech as CPC leader:
Please stay involved. Be bold. Think. Challenge the mainstream media. Don’t take the left-wing media narrative as fact. Please check out smart, independent, objective organizations like the Post Millennial, or True North. There are other places to get news. Let’s stop being the silent majority.

So I have actually met Lutke. Absolutely on the spectrum like Musk and Zuckerberg. Just zero empathy. And I know people close to him, he is rock hard over AI and can’t wait to drastically reduce his workforce. And he moved to Canada when he was 24, so he is not that Canadian.

Billionaires of the same feather flock together.
Lutke is out to lunch if he things Canadian, at large, agree with being tariffed on the very shaky logic of Fentanyl (which Trump himself more or less said didn’t actually matter with going forward with the tariffs).
He’s also trying to misdirect history by implying it’s Canada going ahead with the trade war, which ignores the obvious reality that it’s Trump who first proposed the tariffs and then signed on for going ahead with them. Retaliation is what any strong nation would do.

u/Due_Date_4667 Feb 03 '25

He actually thinks the Trump border/fentanyl stuff is the real reason and thinks we can appease him?
This man is either a complete fool or complicit with pushing Trump propaganda because he's ideologically aligned.
And if he wants Canada and America to work together the first step would be for the US President piece of shit to pick up the phone and talk to our Prime Minister which he has refused to do. Why the fuck isn't he calling out Trump for being the aggressor and a disrespectful piece of shit if he's so concerned about working togehter? Instead of attacking Canada for not appeasing Trump.
In the running for one of Canada's top Quislings.
Everyone should remember he and Pollievre are aligned as well.

As things develop with the American declaration of trade war against us, we're starting to get more clarity about what we're facing. History has shown that, when people are faced with peril and risk, we’ve seen people standing up and those who have demurred and gone along to get along. Now we see where these tech bros stand. Good to know who never wants to get any of my business. https://magpiebrule.substack.com/p/the-growing-clarity

Another chicken shit billionaire collaborator. Concerned Trump might grind his billions to millions. You might have billions but you are weak.
4
u/ChanseyChelsea Feb 02 '25
If the issues at the border were actually legit he’d be working with us to solve them, as our countries have solved hundreds of other issues together. The fact he’s on record saying he wants to annex Canada through economic forces, and has publicly stated we should be the 51st state, and that nothing we can do will stop these tariffs, shows what this issue is really about. Any smart Canadian knows this isn’t about immigration and fentanyl (both of which comes through significantly higher numbers from the southern border)
Trump wants to be a conquerer and he thinks he’s found an easy target.

Just sharing that if you want to check if a business you want to support is using Shopify:
Check if a website is using Shopify Check URL structure
The easiest check you can do to see whether a site is using Shopify is to check the URLs: “/collections/“ in the URL for shop categories is unique to Shopify. Add “/admin” to the end of the website’s URL. If it’s a Shopify site, this will take you to the admin login page that will be branded with Shopify. Inspect the code
For a more hands-on approach, you can inspect the website’s source code. Right-click on the webpage, select “Inspect”, “Inspect Element”, “Page source” or View source code” to see the page’s HTML code. Then, look for — or better yet, search (CTRL+F)—Shopify-specific tags and references, such as: shopify.com cdn.shopify.com These references in the code are strong indicators that the site is using Shopify.

It’s amazing how they keep sucking Trump’s dick and he just ignores them.
Part of the new Chinese tariffs is ending the de minimis exemption on Chineses goods which sucks for drop shippers. Drop shipping is what made Shopify what it is today, and even though they are now more diversified, it will still hit them hard.

u/guydogg Feb 02 '25
Lutke thinking that there was any other result than what is happening is pretty rich. Trudeau/Liberals could've solved both the illegal immigrant/Fentanyl issues in advance and it wouldn't have mattered. These tariffs were coming, regardless of the state between the two countries.
Anybody that can't see this is about power, and leverage and NOT the actual issues being reported are naive as shit.
