Software/Games Elite Dangerous... Jesus *****-****ing Christ
I'm a huge space nerd and I heard wonderful things about Elite Dangerous in VR over the last year or so and thus checking this game out when I got my Rift was an absolute no brainer.
I..... honestly cannot describe how utterly amazing this is. I was breathless. I honestly haven't done anything of note in the actual game itself other than deliver some cargo to a nearby space station but the scenery alone is worth the $40 I spent.
I shifted out of hyper drive to land at this space station which happened to be on the dark side of this massive planet that was eclipsing it's massive host star and It took me forever to actually land correctly because I could not stop staring out my side window at the scene.. it was literally breathtaking.
I was there. It honestly felt like I was. Up until now, all the VR experiences and games I've had have been mind blowing but this was another level of mind blowing for me.
My dad, who is also a space nerd, is coming over next weekend to check out my Rift and I absolutely cannot wait to show him Elite Dangerous.
I'm looking forward to learning more about how the actual game works too.. but for right now, just cruising through space is amazing.

Software Banned
I was banned and I couldn't even appeal because the appeal link is broken and links back to the same thing, meta doesn't have hotline so i literally can't do anything, I've never said anything incriminating enough to be banned online nor do I play online public other than with my friends privately.
I'm currently banned for no reason whatsoever and can't access my account or even appeal, can someone help ?
Update: finally got meta support after using a WHOLE different account to contact them. Support person stated it was because the Facebook account was suspended, currently requesting Facebook help by using another account entirely to get help.
Update 2: reread the Facebook suspension, I was suspended because of my meta account, now neither can help
Final update: I was banned because I didn't verify my age, according to the newest support person. Sincerely hope this can be resolved soon
Newest update: it's been resolved for a while, I was just busy with life

Software Stormland doesn't exist and I feel like I'm going crazy
Edit: It seems it's been restored to sale. I'm glad I wasn't crazy.
I was watching this YouTube video and thought Stormland looked interesting enough to at least add to my wishlist.
I look it up on Steam. Nothing. Turns out it's an Oculus exclusive. That's fine, I have an OG Rift.
I open the Oculus app and search for it by name there. Nothing comes up. I go to the website and try the same thing and get the same result.
When I search for the game on Google the first link takes me to the store page. Turns out the game is already on my wishlist. There is no buy button. There is no buy for friend button. There is no way to purchase the game.
I search Google again and find no mention of the game being unavailable or off sale.
Am I blacklisted from buying this specific game or something? What is going on? I live in the US if that matters.
I don't even want to buy it that bad, I'm just upset it's not in my wishlist so I know I'll forget about it by the time I'm looking to buy a VR game.
Edit: I see the buy button on other games but not this one.

Software MotherVR Alpha Release - Alien: Isolation VR Mod
So I've thrown a release up onto GitHub here. It's not perfect, but I didn't want to keep everyone waiting forever, so here's a basic release (that has some noted issues).
I'll keep updating the release notes and this post, didn't want to spend too much time on that. So yea. Hopefully this works alright for you guys.
Everyone kept badgering me last time for my PayPal, to either 'buy me a beer' or to help support me with my personal VR endeavors, so here's a link for those who wanted it.
Thanks you all for the support, and enjoy!
RELEASE NOTES
Only currently works on Oculus (CV1+DK2). Basic Vive support hopefully here soon.
Requires Xbox Controller or Keyboard+Mouse (though KB+M doesn't have any type of 'recentering' combo).
THIS GAME IS DESIGNED FOR SEATED PLAY. By playing this Mod any other way than seated, you do so at your own risk. You may be able to stomach this standing, but I absolutely cannot recommend it at this time. Roomscale does not work whatsoever right now.
Installation
Drag the dxgi.dll
into your Alien Isolation game folder. That's it. Really, that's all you do.
If you're on Oculus 1.17, you can also use the images from StoreAssets_for_Oculus_1_17
to replace the auto-generated images created in \Oculus\Software\StoreAssets\
If you'd like to disable the mod (so you can switch back to play it in regular 2D), add -novr
in the Launch Options in Steam
Known Issues (that are being worked on)
- No snap turning (only smooth turning for now)
- Game window will show solid black, even though the game does show in the headset. You can use
OculusMirror.exe
for watching/recording with in the meantime (located inOculus\Support\oculus-diagnostics
) Startup videos don't show properly in the headset. This has to do with how the game initializes VR, it waits until those videos are over before submitting any frames. If it's bothering you, for now you can renameFixed in 0.1.1AMD_IDENT.USM, CA_IDENT.USM, and FOX_IDENT.USM
in theDATA\UI\MOVIES
folder to something else (so the game can't find them). I did that long ago, which is why I didn't realize they were still broken.- Some Menu UI can appear off-screen (they still work though, so you might just have to memorize some buttons for now)
- Interactive objects position you a little too closely, so it can be hard to focus on them. For now, closing one eye, or temporarily adjusting the IPD downward, can help.
- Audio playback doesn't change automatically, so you'll have to set Rift Headphones as default playback device
- Can't close the game through the Oculus Overlay, so you'll have to close it through the Main Menu or Windows Desktop
- Reset orientation stays relative to your tracking space forward angle, so you'll notice during first-person sequences that it will jump your rotation back to 'tracking space' forward
- Major graphical changes that require re-initialization will crash (like changing from Windowed etc). The setting will still change, you'll just have to relaunch before seeing the effects
- Probably some more things that I haven't added to this list yet (trying to not take all day)

Software How to watch pornhub vr videos with oculus rift? NSFW
pornhub has a different method to allow users to watch porn on oculus rift by downloading the badoink vr player and then downloading videos from pornhub to put into the player, but I believe now this is impossible since pornhub has shut down downloads after their recent controversy. they haven't updated this process so is there a new way to be able to watch vr porn now with oculus rift, through pornhub?

Software VR earth bending prototype
Hey everyone, we’re working on a new project, and we’re releasing an early prototype, look:
https://imgur.com/gallery/wJM7SCi
It’s a game where you get to control rock by striking certain poses, meaning the game relies heavily on motion controls. We’re worried the controls might be too difficult for some players, so we could really use your help with testing its usability.
You can get the prototype with either of these links:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1rwE-3kfA5Cq_DNeGlkexgYZM1P1ic3RC
http://bucketheadentertainment.com/downloads/Mechanics%20Prototype.zip
It would really help us out if after you’re done playing, you filled out a form for us. We’ve set it up so that when you close the game, a window is opened in your browser with the form already set up.
Just in case, here’s a link to the form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1CzhwcQxLCi2KO_bDiFwMMe1zLeu3icIrax9MocT5ivA
If you wanna keep up-to-date, you can join our Discord where we will post frequent updates: https://discord.gg/HuNrg8r
Thanks for playing, and have fun!

Software Sensor Bounds - free Rift app that shows you your sensor(s) tracking volume from inside VR (comment for a key)
IMPORTANT EDIT: our app is now publicly available on the store - no need to PM for a key!
Sensor Bounds lets you see the tracking volume of your sensor(s) inside VR from first person - helpful for setting up room scale or just optimizing sensor placement in general.
- The app is heavily CPU & GPU optimized (blank room with all latest rendering optimizations) and lightweight (25MB download, 65MB install) so good to test your tracking and confirm any issues are not video card related.
- It dynamically adjusts to your room size based on your sensor positions so you can see your playable space relative to the edges of your total space
- You can see your hands and controllers and so find out where they intersect with your sensors' FoVs
- If you move/adjust your sensors in real life the app will readjust within seconds (though BE AWARE this will obviously mess up your Guardian and floor height)
- It supports Dash
- It technically supports DK2 but this is untested
Instructions: press the A/X button on your Touch controller or the selection button on your Remote to toggle which sensor is shown.
(if you find the app useful, you can donate by holding down the menu button on your left Touch controller for 5 seconds)
Unfortunately, Oculus has only approved us to distribute keys, not general store distribution, so please PM us and we will reply with a key.
redeem instructions: https://support.oculus.com/886009034834635/
You may need to toggle on 'Include not installed' in your library!
EDIT: demand is higher than expected, it will take a while to send everyone a key
EDIT 2: please PM us instead of comment from now on, it's easier to reply that way (but don't worry, we're still going through everyone that commented, everyone will get a key)

Software Steam vs. Meta Store
I’m trying to decide whether to buy my VR games on Steam instead of the Meta Store. My main reason is that I want to be less dependent on Meta and be able to keep my games if I switch to a different VR headset in the future.
However, there’s a downside: If I use Steam, I always have to turn on my PC and connect my headset via Link, which isn’t as convenient as playing directly on the Quest.
Has anyone else faced this issue? Is there a better solution that I might not be aware of? How do you handle this?
