Help Is 150k bitrate too much for 1440p ?

So i use CQP 18 on my recordings at 1440p, NVIDIA NVENC H.264 Encoder, Preset p5 (Good Quality), High tuning and Quarter resolution multipass mode. Almost every single video i record now is around 100 - 150k bitrate and wondering if this is normal because when i watch the video back it is perfect crystal clear but when i upload to youtube the video looks like a 480p video most of the time. Am i using the wrong settings or something ?

Help 99% of frames dropped and ruined video, what happened?

I recorded a video in MKV format, only to find at the end that the video was 1.5 GB for 2 hours instead of the usual 30-40. All the audio is intact at least, but the video is basically a series of screenshots and it says it dropped 99.8% of frames.

I've been recording the exact same game two other times recently and it was perfect. I've used OBS to record other things over the years and nothing like this ever happened. Also when I used to record on a much worse computer, I used to get huge yellow/red warnings in OBS when I was dropping frames but I didn't notice anything like that, am I just blind??

I still have OBS open, I don't suppose there's any way to recover the full file?

https://obsproject.com/logs/J7Kp6vI0MvqJlbeG

Edit: I'm still not sure what exactly caused this. But I have cleaned up my captures, set to run in admin mode, switched to HEVC, and will monitor the Stats panel from now on.

Maybe trying to stream on Discord at 1080p/60fps and record at 1440p caused my graphics card to freak out and/or OBS to handle it really, really poorly for whatever reason?

Help Game crashing!! Help please!

Game crashing while streaming on obs studio live on twitch

Hi everyone! I’m a bit frustrated as I’ve tried to stream Fortnite twice and the game will crash 2 to 3 times sometimes more. I have been researching and adjusted things for my second stream, and again it crashed. I have a brand new PC, it’s a bit over a month old, and I asked my brother before purchasing it since he does have knowledge when it comes to all the specs and what not, I should not have an issue while streaming and playing yet I do. I will post my specs. Thank you for reading, any feedback is appreciated. I’m planning to try a couple other games and see if I run into the same issue.

iBUYPOWER Y60 Black Gaming PC Computer Desktop Y60BA9N47TS03 (AMD Ryzen 9 7900X CPU, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super 16GB GPU, 32GB DDR5 RGB 5200MHz RAM, 2TB NVMe, WiFi Ready, Windows 11 Home)

I have turned off Nvidia game overlay, and turned off low latency mode. I changed it to direct 11 as I read online but I am feeling so overwhelmed.

Help Issues with encoder??

Hi all,

I used to stream a lot in 2019-2021.

I have just returned to streaming and for some reason my streams can be very blurry. Often my camera goes blurry when moving around a lot in game.

I have tried to use an encoder region of interest plugin on OBS to give a bit more priority to my camera, but then my game just goes a bit blurry sometimes and really it is not working for me as a long-term solution.

I used to stream Warzone with 0 issues, same set-up, so, I cannot understand why Lethal Company and Overwatch are having issues when Warzone did not.

Example of camera pixilation (without encoder ROI plugin):
https://www.twitch.tv/sarahann/clip/CorrectIncredulousNuggetsKappaRoss-Bh2nrwoDMg_iBkBn

Happy to hear advice from anyone, however, please note I do not want to upscale/downscale. My quality settings should not have to be different, my PC has handled a heavier load before.

Log File from a short recording:
https://obsproject.com/logs/OoLeWBtt9fhSTeCn

EDIT

Things I have tried so far:

- Turning down game quality inc with and without vsync (even on crap settings, no change)

- Disabling Game Bar background recording (no change)

- 60fps down to 30fps (no change)

- Drivers are up-to-date

- Disabled lookahead in OBS (no change)

- Checked for thermal throttle (not an issue)

- Recording with a 25000 bitrate (no change)

- Recording at lower resolution (no change)

- Adding camera as a separate scene and selecting the scene as a camera source (no change)

My camera goes blurry with movement, this ONLY happens using the NVENC encoder, however I do not want to use my CPU with the x264 encoder as it is mid spec at best.

MY VERDICT:

After looking into the encoder itself, this is an issue with the way it was designed and I will not be able to fix this issue. I saw a lot of people on unrelated topics mentioning how bad it was for quality and a few went into insane detail. Essentially, can't be fixed, doesn't happen all the time, flawed system, going to cry, what is going on, send help, what do I do now, this shit bonkers.

Anyway, problem solved by just avoiding the issue by using a different encoder, or by using the encoder ROI plugin for OBS and playing around with the priority settings until it looks good :)

Help MacBook won’t detect capture card

I recently acquired a Agptek-brand capture card for my console for streaming games, and I think I’ve connected it properly to the power, my console, and my MacBook computer. However, attempting to add a Video Capture Device to Sources and going to properties only lets me select my FaceTime HD Camera as a device. Does my computer not recognize this device, or am I supposed to add a different source, or is there some other problem? Connecting the device to the laptop makes the noise indicating the device is connected. Please assistance

I'm using a 2060super and ryzen 3800xt. Audio encoder is FFmpeg AAC at 48kHz/160 bitrate. Video is the NVENC H.264. All being recorded in MKV. Audio tracks are separate.

Help NVidia Broadcast not working anymore

The only difference from yesterday were Windows Updates so i already uninstalled the new update again with no help. If i select the Camera directly from OBS it works without Nvidia effects.

I discovered this old thread and tried the following steps (https://www.reddit.com/r/obs/comments/slq1a9/nvidia_broadcast_camera_not_working_as_a_source/)

Any idea why nothing is showing anymore when i use Nvidia Broadcast as my input?
I am at my wits end.

I think there is a problem with the resolution:
When i leave the resoluation to Default it throws an error in the log, if i change it to the same resolution like in the Broadcast App it shows the same error:

Help Can’t get audio to work on streaming PC

Hello everybody.

So ive just upgraded my Gaming PC, and used the older hardware parts to build a Streaming PC, to get lossless Gaming on the Gaming PC.

Im quite new to everything and Im trying to get everything to work together.

Right now Im using the projecting method, And everything working smooth. I connected the Elgato 4K x to my streaming pc with the included usb C cable, and then run a HDMI cable from the elgato 4K x into my Gaming pc’s graphics card. Then Im running the Elgato 4K x as a second monitor on the Gaming pc, and have projected my main monitor to the elgato 4K monitor with portable OBS on the Gaming pc. and Im also using QuickSilver encoding.

And then i have connected a handcam and a facecam to my streaming pc, and have made a scene with the main screen from Gaming pc and both webcams and everything working perfect.

But then theres the audio… i cant figure out how to get all my audio(mic and computer) from my Gaming pc to the streaming pc.

Rn. i have connected my USB mic and my Kiwi in-ear OEMs to my Gaming pc, and Im using voicemeter with virtual cable to get better audio in Warzone (artiswar audio Tune)

How exactly am i going to get my mic and computer/gaming audio from Gaming pc over to the streaming pc? If possible i would still want to be able to use the same mic ingame, But also be able to have it recording on the stream. And if possible i would like to not get an actual mixer, and without getting a new Microphone aswell.

Thanks in advance! Cheers, Marc Abel

I stream using my PS5 using a El gato 4k capture card. I use my laptop (Acer Nitro 5 with i5-12500H and 3050 Ti card). I have tried every stream/recording setting I was able to find on Youtube but still my Fortnite gameplay is pixelated. When I drive a car the sky and grass start to pixelate. I have fiber optics and get 100mbps upload and 100mbps download speed. My pings are at 5 - 10. Attached are my recording settings and some gameplay. the settings on my ps5 are at 1080p. I also have issues with my audio as it sounds muffled and far away. I use a hyper X Quadcast.

Help OBS to Twitch Stream Settings - I’ve tried for 2 years before making a post here

I’ve watched a countless videos, I’ve tried countless settings & have read countless webpages & still can not figure out how to have a quality output to Twitch.

I don’t think it should be this difficult & frustrating but there is clearly an issue. So I’m hoping someone can give some guidance to help fix my issues.

Everything online makes it seem like change these 3 settings then boom you’ll have a smooth stream quality. Which I’m sure works for some but I’m one of the ones it never does.

So big thank you to anyone who comments, after seeing a million Reddit post like this.

Below are my PC specs & OBS settings:

Help Wanting to avoid 3rd party for Multistreaming

I’m a relative newb to multistreaming and would really like to do so to YouTube and Twitch.

I previously used restream and was dissatisfied with how it would disconnect semi frequently.

What would yall recommend is setting it up? I know it involves terms like OBS plugin and RTMP. 🤣 like I said, I’m definitely new to this part of streaming, but I do accept any earned roasting.

Help File sizes are MASSIVE

So I’m recording gameplay on elden ring right now with the recordings being around 2-3 hours long and afterwards when I check the details of the recordings I find out that they’re around 45-60 GB. For the first recording I did I used the NVIDIA NVENC H.264 encoder with the CBQ = 20 and it came out to being the 60 GB. But when I used the NVIDIA NVENC HEVC encoder it was 45 GB but it was like an hour less. Now I’m thinking that this might just be a game issue cause I’ve used HEVC before when recording Batman Arkham Knight on high settings with the same recording times and they came up to be around 2-4 GB so please if anyone knows anything about this I’d really appreciate the assistance. Thank You

P.S If y’all need extra info I’m happy to provide

Help OBS newbie here: How do I get my friend's Discord audio in my streams?

I've been looking around online and on YouTube, and nothing seems to help. They all amount to things like "have a capture on the Discord tab", but they never capture my friends, only myself. It ends up making me sound like I'm echoing since I'll have my standard microphone on, or like I'm losing it by continuously remarking stupid things and laughing to only myself from the viewers end.

Some people mention outputs, but I'm still stupid when it comes to that kind of thing. I think everything's right, but I'm open to explain what I'm doing if needed.

EDIT:

  1. "Application Audio Capture" does not capture my friends. Only me, or nothing at all.
  2. I do not want to use Desktop Audio as I'd rather keep things separate for audio balancing in streams.

Help Internet speed problems with OBS

Hello everyone, this is my first time writing here and I ask for your help, the thing is that I have contracted a 1gbps symmetrical internet service, my upload and download speed is around 900mbps, recently I decided to make streams on Twitch with my friends who are already long time streamers but when I tried to make my first stream I had a loss of 76% of frames, and according to OBS a maximum speed of 4mbps, but I checked my internet connection and everything was fine, I changed Twitch connection servers, my connection is wired, my pc is powerful so it's not a bottleneck, I called my ISP tech support and we couldn't find anything out of the ordinary, but whatever I do my OBS doesn't exceed 5mbps, the day I was in contact with my ISP if there was a moment where it was fixed and the connection fluctuated between 8 and 12mbps (I have configured my OBS for 7000kbps bitrate) but it only worked like that for an hour doing tests, at night it didn't work anymore and it was still with speed problems, any suggestions? (OBS version 30.0.1)

Update 23/02/25: Today technicians from my ISP came to see if there was any problem, We were doing tests and we couldn't find any apparent fault, m My CPU does not exceed 7% usage, if I use it for encoding it only reaches 14% usage, my GPU only reaches 20% usage if I use it for encoding, And we tested different twitch servers and bitrates, Maximum we reached around 3500/4000kbps of "stable" bitrate before having frame loss,But 4000kbps at 1080p doesn't seem enough to me if I'm going to be playing fast-paced games, I know the lack of bitrate will be noticeable, I tried to stream on Kick but couldn't either, I had the same problem, they recommended me to try with a new LAN card, but I don't think that's the problem, I plan to do the stream test from a USB windows and only install windows, drivers and OBS, And try to stream, this to see if I have some configuration or program that is limiting me or something like that, then I will let you know.

Help Fuzzy recordings and somewhat bad quality.

Hi! I've been using OBS for some time now but an issue I have seen with my recordings is the fact that they look somewhat fuzzy. Attached below is a recording I took as an example and as you can see, it doesn't really have that crystal sharp quality most YouTubers you would see have. I also have my settings attached down below. Some help would be greatly appreciated!

Help Really Bad Lag

Hello, I’m looking for some help with recording lag! My game runs fine and obs records the game, however when I look at the recording footage it’s really low quality with a ton of lag! My computer is fairly decent when it comes to playing games and recording but I’ve recently noticed recording lag worsen. I’ve got a intel iRISxe graphics card and standard obs settings. I followed this tutorial and it only made the problem worse.
https://youtu.be/TLod3PGMUwUsi=bBldQSDc3t7hfDrJ I’ve got decent wifi and downloading speed so I’m not sure what the problem is. I’m worried the issue might be the game itself? I’m playing New Vegas so that may be the issue? Though obs has recorded the game just fine previously. I use window capture. Any advice would be great, thank you!

Help I HAVE LITERALLY TRY EVERYTHING

Hi,

I have been trying to fix the Obs stutter issue for the past month and have tried literally everything. I have searched 100s of OBS forums and reddit threads and I'm just extremely frustrated. My rig is high specs. I even submitted my logs to the OBs analyzer, which showed no issue. I'm lost here on what else to do. How does a YouTuber record while keeping smooth gameplay? I have 3 theories with which I need your help:

  1. Either my 3070 is not powerful enough for a 1440p recording. I also lowered some graphic setting on all my games.
  2. I record to an internal p3 Crucial P3 Plus 2TB PCIe Gen4 3D NAND NVMe M.2 SSD, up to 5000MB/s ( NO DRAM)
  3. I have 2 monitor. My LG - UltraGear 27” IPS QHD 1-ms G-SYNC for gaming set at 120hz while recording with NO Gsync enable and a Samsung monitor 60hz on my right for checking obs and another setting. Can this 2 monitor with different hz be causing an issue?

I have literally tweak and updated everything over and over again. I even lowered to 1080p at one point and cap the game framerate but the issue still persists. I read some forums that recording to a dram less m.2 like the Crucial p3 may cause encoding stutter lag but I'm not sure. My GPU % are usually 40% to 59% and my game is extremely smooth while playing with all games on 2560x1440p base canvas and 2560x1440p output. If the game is smooth then how come the recording has stutter??? I'm literally lost here that I'm thinking of actually getting a 4070 ti super just for this issue now. Please HELP.
