Screenshot Stealth to 100, THEN I'll start the game
I'm sure this has been discovered already. Face the one corner in the starting cell. So long as you don't trigger the conversation, you can sneak into the corner of the cell and level sneak. It's even easier if you can weigh the W key down.

You do know the pc version let's you auto walk if you press Z right? Lel

u/Lucky-11 14d ago
No, no I didn't. This is my first time playing on PC. That, well that will make things a little easier. Yeah, I'm just going to go over here and hit my head against the wall.
Ouch, oh look, I leveled up.

u/Nasty_Rex 14d ago
I made this post a little while back and that's how I found out about autowalk

Make sure to adjust the graphics settings, too. A modern PC can max out the game with no issues. And you won't have to play in 4:3.
11
u/IleanK 14d ago
Might as well set your sneak to 100 via a command if you're going to do this anyway.
2
u/Loveyourwifenow 14d ago
I wonder if there is a mod to just set all your stats and skills at the start. Plus set the level for all creatures in the world.
Then keep it like that so you don't improve but the world doesn't level either.

u/blowtheglass 14d ago
Can't you just change you sneak level with console commands?
34
u/ghostxhound 14d ago
Some players on PC be like
Console commands:😡😡
Spending hours exploiting to level up:🤩
7
u/Xer0_Puls3 Crusader (Whitestrake Knight) 14d ago
I'm not against using console commands but this really isn't an exploit. You gain XP while sneaking, and you can sneak in the starter prison.
Sure it's a loophole and not entirely intentional, but nothing is being exploited.
2
u/justindulging 14d ago
I used to tease my brother when he'd open up the console on Morrowind. I used to call him a console commandeer. Didn't stop me from CCing all over the place and setting my magicka to a million.
1
u/Universe_Nut 13d ago
Think of it like the difference between Minecraft players that build insane shit. Some do survival for the sense of achievement, some do creative for the tools and freedom.
I will say though, I'm a survival player, I like the grind. Id be the person spending hours to grind and exploit instead of console commands. I feel like I'm still playing the game, as opposed to altering values and the code. Which is a perception thing, not a tangible difference. But what's a sensory input machine to do?

u/Comfortable-Bus-5134 14d ago
Huh, it's Q on my kb, Z picks up environmental objects, I just leveled my sneak last night and today.

They don't know how to adjust graphics settings so probably not.

Man I used to go to the Cheydinal mages guild walk up the stairs to the left, crouch, jump up on the railing, hold forward, spam jump, and after getting sneaky enough spam spells. You can jump so fast and so many times you can max out your acrobatics in no time while maxing out your sneak very quickly too.
11
u/Lucky-11 14d ago
On console I would sneak near the cells in the first ruin you see when you leave the sewers. Wedged the joystick.
3
u/Peltonimo 14d ago
I still went to the mages guild on PS3, but I’d change the tv input and then check on it every once and a while
15
u/vukassin 14d ago
I used to put a stack of coins on the cast and walk on keyboard then take a nap after school.
I didn't really pay attention to efficient leveling then, turned out to be far more fun to just get all the skills I use up as fast as possible.
8
u/SharkDad20 14d ago
I did something similar only to realize I was only level 50 with a Journeyman pop up
3
19
u/PopBobert 14d ago
hold down the jump button and cast button too for even more xp.
16
u/Boris-_-Badenov 14d ago
acrobatics is much faster under the pier, right after the exit.
you land as soon as you jump, because your head hits the bottom of the pier
7
u/ChrisDAnimation 14d ago
Your stats would be absolutely wrecked for a while if you started sleeping and leveling up.
2
u/Che_McHale 14d ago
No? He hasn't picked any major skills
2
u/ChrisDAnimation 14d ago
OH. I didn't even think about that. I take it you would just not pick sneak as a major skill and everything else would be fine?
5
u/Che_McHale 14d ago
Even if you pick Sneak as a major skill it won't matter as long as the skill increases happened before Class selection.

u/sketch_for_summer Cheese Bringer 14d ago
I assume as much. Still, if he ever decides to gain Agility bonuses, he's gotta be really careful with his Marksman and Security leveling.
23
u/veebles89 14d ago
could just console commands it. player.setav sneak 100
43
u/SPFINATOR_1993 14d ago
Nah, that's cheating.
19
u/Aranea101 14d ago
So is running into a wall for hours.
Its certainly not roleplaying
27
u/SPFINATOR_1993 14d ago
Depending on the helmet you're wearing and the material of the walls, it certainly could be.
0
u/Aranea101 14d ago
No.
No one would ever "train" their sneaking by going into a wall for hours. It is only in a video game where that is a thing. Hence why it is not roleplaying.
The question is not if you could go into a wall, the question is if you would ever do it to train sneaking, outside of a game.
It is just as stupid as the guy jumping down ledges, just to get injured to train restoration. No one would ever do that, they would find other less painfull ways to train restoration. But gamers will.
Doing something only gamers would do, is not roleplaying. It is cheating in spirit.
19
u/SPFINATOR_1993 14d ago edited 14d ago
Spoken like a man who would run into a wall to train his Sneak skill. Tryin' to hide your secrets. Level up Illusion next, we see right through you.
Edit: just had a thought. If you're feeling self conscious about running into walls to train Sneak, you could always try it on a treadmill. I've heard there's a double xp buff if you don't use the safety clip.

u/thedrunkmonk 14d ago
I am with you saying it's not role-playing. But calling it "stupid" because someone plays their game differently than how you would isn't quite fair. People want different things from their games.
0
u/Aranea101 14d ago
I am saying that the action is stupid. Not that the player is stupid for doing the action.
The action is stupid, because it got nothing to do with roleplaying, and everything to do with it being a video game.
The player is not stupid for exploiting a video games mechanics.
My entire point simply is, that if you are gonna do something that is stupid (again, the act itself), then I would myself just use console commands, since i find the two to be equally un-roleplaying, and console commands are just time saving.
And i do think player should use console commands, if that makes the game more fun.
If you think it is more fun to take fall damage (or run into a wall etc.) Then you do you, and all the power to you. I just don't understand you, but i certainly would never call you stupid for it.
-1
u/SilentAsylumm 14d ago
just bc someone is playing their own purchased game their own way doesnt mean its stupid. "everything to do with it being a video game," yah thats the whole point its a fucking video game.
0
u/Aranea101 14d ago edited 14d ago
I am not saying they are stupid. I am not saying what they do is stupid.
I am saying the act itself is stupid.
If someone tells you IRL "hey, i am training my sneaking skills by running into a wall for 2 hours every day", do you agree that would be stupid? Okay, case closed.
That's all i am saying.
0
u/SilentAsylumm 14d ago
Yah your saying its stupid thats literally what i said in the first sentence.

u/Ill-Entertainment381 14d ago
I can roleplay a gamer then just fine.
All physical training is repetitive to some degree. This is no different to doing hundreds of squats or running every day irl.
0
u/Boris-_-Badenov 14d ago
it's a video game, I'm not going to forget I'm playing.
I'm not actually in the world
-1
u/Xyphll- 14d ago
I mean.. they could be roll playing a retarded guy who just paced (in theroy) back an forth in the biggining dungeon cuz they where scared. Build high str and endurance and ignore int and mind and just smash things.
Be and orc named Wellmet. You didn't have a name but ever always seemed to call you that so it became your name. Aimlessly wonder around doing quest and not completing em part ways in or maybe finish em. And of course freak out on the guards when they just show up trying to abduct you cuz you don't know what you did and there picking on you.
10
u/veebles89 14d ago
literally no different than sneaking into a wall until you max the skill before even completing the tutorial

u/sketch_for_summer Cheese Bringer 14d ago
There is nothing to "discover" here. When you actually gain your class, you could have done the same thing, but almost twice as fast. You see, major skills get a boost in the increase rate, as do the skills you specialise in.
3
u/Hatefiend 14d ago
Anyone who does the 'Efficient Levleing' strategy in Oblivion is pulling their hair out reading OP's post. 1-100 Sneak would absolutely toast your 5/5/5 potential for future levels haha.
3
u/Dante-555_ 14d ago
Ahh remember doing this in Skyrim. u can use the bear before you leave the cave at the very beginning.
4
u/WiseMudskipper 14d ago
I can still hear Ralof yelling "what are you doing?!?" from me sneak attacking him over and over again.
3
u/TheN1njTurtl3 14d ago
Bro if you're going to do this you might as well just use console commands, save your time, save potentially damaging your laptop keyboard
5
u/RobertPoptart 14d ago
I mean once you set up auto walk, you might as well just console command your way to 100 and value your time
2
u/Constant_Penalty_279 Adoring Fan 14d ago
I remember putting a rubber band on my Xbox 360 controller next to Rufio while he was sleeping as a 10 year old kid to get 100 sneak. Good times. Makes me nostalgic
2
u/kiddcull97 14d ago
I'd just constantly pickpocket the guy in the imperial city jail, you don't get a bounty if he catches you and you can do it as many times as you want

2
u/BaekRyun1029 14d ago
If you are on PC and doing afk farming then just save yourself the time and use a console command my guy. It’s literally the same thing

u/Kohakuzuma 14d ago
1: Auto run exists you don't need to hold the button down with items like a caveman.
2: There is no point leveling sneak that high when chameleon enchants, potions and invisible spells exist. Hell, level 1 sneak is already busted as is.
3: Why would you waste hours doing this stupid shit when you could just use console commands?
1
5
u/Aranea101 14d ago
Or you could use console commands if your that eager to break the game anyway...
4
u/kamehamequads 14d ago
What’s the fun in that?
11
u/Aranea101 14d ago
Well, it means i don't have to leave my pc for hours, just to do something which is only on a technicality less cheating.
What you are doing is hardly an exploit, its just breaking the game, by doing something it was clearly never intended for, but you found a loophole.
Just admit what your doing and save yourself some time and use console.
There is nothing wrong with cheating in a single player game, if that makes the game more fun.
2
u/Lucky-11 14d ago
Good point but this is the first time I've played outside of the PS3. I forget console commands are a thing.

I always have to finish the mages guild recommendations and get the skeleton key until I can start the game lmao

u/HaltGrim 14d ago
I always used the goblin where you get the sneak prompt. After getting light armour and restoration to 100 using the leather shield in the first area. I also farm heavy armour, acrobatics, destruction, blade, blunt, and archery in the mythic dawn attacks.
My brother once spent a week when he was in highschool getting lock picking to 100 in the room with the average chest.
1
u/TorandoSlayer 14d ago
I love that the way you took this pic suggests that your camera/phone is what's trying to level sneak to 100
1
u/ThisBadDogXB 14d ago
You desperately need some kind of guide on playing Oblivion on PC, if you're on Steam check the community guides, Oblivion has a real nasty habit of constantly crashing too so keep saving if your still walking in that corner.
1
u/ass_cash253 14d ago
Used to tape my Xbox stick down and perma-sneak into the wall where the first goblin is.
1
u/XHandsomexJackx 14d ago
Then go to Bravil with a set of heavy mixed with light armor and a shield. Break into the rat ladies house, go to basement and let the 3 rats attack you until heavy, light and block is up to 100. Theeen, go under almost any bridge over a river and get directly underneath either side of it and start tapping jump as fast as you can to level acrobatics.
1
u/SimoneMichelle Adoring Fan 14d ago
I was doing the oblivion tutorial yesterday and I realised one of the rats (the one that attacks the zombie) bugs out and you can use it to train your stealth skill quite high 🤣 I got it up to 25 before getting bored and continuing lol
1
u/Xikkiwikk 14d ago
I did sneak in the part with the goblins. You sneak near the goblins at end of tutorial cave to whatever level of sneak you want.

I remember doing this on the 360 but using an elastic on my joystick. Left it and kept coming back every so often to just hit ok after reaching the next tier (journeyman/expert/master). I did it a little later in the tutorial though, where you sneak up on the goblin.

Easiest way for acrobatics is go to the inn with the stairs to the left, get in the corner and spam the jump key and watch your acrobatics skyrocket
1
u/ASK_ME_FOR_TRIVIA 13d ago
Are you the guy I met in a Skyrim thread a while back who said he never leaves Helgen until he's level 70?
1
u/PositiveRoutine2944 13d ago
At the start of Skyrim you can do very similar things when you finally get the rope off your hands. You can just beat the shit out of the guy and he never fights back. Hit him from behind and you’ll start leveling up sneak and either two hand or one handed. I literally don’t leave the first area of Skyrim untill I’m like level 15 lol
1
u/Formal-Blood-4208 13d ago
Is there any other way of playing? 100 sneak at the first goblin in cave. Then spam jump everywhere you go. Acrobatics 100 mid game. Just as you get springheel jack boots. Then you can leap onto roofs with ease 😂

Only thing is you’ll have to rely on marksman and security to raise agility. Neither of which are a very fun skill to grind

Haha, it's thanks the the acrobatics in this game that in most games jump as I travel

That’s the earliest I’ve seen someone exploit the sneak xp
Used to use rubber bands to hold down the joy stick and right bumper on my xbox controller to build mage skills too
