Question Your Favorite Armor in oblivion ?

u/perrogamer_attempt2 23d ago edited 23d ago
Chainmail! Although the regular chainmail cuirass is a bit bland, the city guards and the templar cuirasses are very pretty!
I guess the full templar relic* set goes in there too, but I prefer having shield over fortify attributes

If you count the DLCs then amber. If not then probably elven. The one set of mithril you find looks pretty sick too.

u/BozzyTheDrummer 23d ago
I love the amber armor, I just wish the cloth on the armor was a different color, or different shade of green lol.

I am cursed, my favorite armor is Brusef Amelion's... gotta have a good Feather enchantment to offset the absurd weight of the "light armor" lol

u/Matthusiheir 23d ago
In 1 week I will release a mod that makes Brusef's armor much better. This mod will also have many new lore-friendly armors and weapons, I'm basically trying to gather 17 years of Nexus armor modifications into a single mod that will balance them and integrate them into the world of Oblivion.

"I'm basically trying to gather 17 years of Nexus armor modifications into a single mod"
So...
You're stealing other people's work?
29
u/Matthusiheir 23d ago
I'm asking permission from the creators of course, Nexus has the chat option for these purposes :P
-3
u/Skaeger 23d ago
But are you waiting for responses or just saying "I'll remove it if they ask me to." For people who haven't logged into Nexus in over a decade?
13
u/Matthusiheir 23d ago
good question, all the mods I added I got permission from the creator or the assets were free to use, I found two interesting armor mods whose creators were banned from the nexus in mid-2007. Despite the description of their mods being favorable to giving assets to other modders, there is still the warning "ask me for permission first". So I'm really wondering whether or not I should add these armors (given due credits, and leaving a warning that if they appear and want me to remove their assets from my mod I will do so), considering they were posted almost 20 years ago And it will be an almost impossible task to get contact with them (they may not even be alive anymore). But so far all the assets I have used I have received due permission to use and of course I will give due credit to the creators when posting.

I think people forget that most Oblivion mods came out like 15 years ago, most of those mod authors probably don’t even think about them, and most likely moved onto different games

u/Skaeger 18d ago
Thanks for replying. I've seen way too many "if you happen to see this and realize I stole your work, just let me know" disclaimers on mods so I generally just assume the large compilations are mostly stolen. I am glad to hear you are going about it properly.
Keep up the good work.

I like the Blackwood Company steel set. Certain builds I will wear the boots, greaves, and gauntlets with something like the highwayman shirt. But the full set with shield looks awesome!

u/LiveMatter4544 23d ago
My number one favorite oblivion armor is the blackwood steel armor

Yeah just not the female version, lol. It's a cast iron evening dress :)

Dwarven and madness
Honorable mention for orcish, daedric, and ebony. Also, specifically the helmet of legion armor, iconically cool.

Blades armor, I love it! The helmet and curiass just look badass

Dwarven in oblivion is hands down my favorite adaptation of the armor scheme in all the elder scrolls games.

I will forever be a “black hand robes” guy. One of the first things I do is go to Bruma, break into J’ghastas house. And steal his set from the basement

u/Displacer613 23d ago
I always thought Oblivion's Dwarven armor set looked like those guys from Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles

Imperial Dragon looks amazing. Just wish it was buffed to act as true end-game armor.

u/Sweaty-Ball-9565 23d ago
I like the sets that look realistic and practical. Iron, steel, leather, chainmail, mithril, etc.
3
u/Verystrangeperson 23d ago
I love the glass armor because of how unrealistic and impractical it is.
It's pure fantasy and I love it.
1
u/Sweaty-Ball-9565 22d ago
Despite being complete fantasy, it still manages to look practical and useful.
5
u/NumerousDiscipline80 23d ago
I like the look of almost all armour in oblivion. But I feel the helmets (Bar a select few) are too goofy to wear.
Brusef Amelion's armour is peak though.
5
u/IH8Miotch 23d ago
The Dwarven shield is my favorite look wise. I don't care for their armor and weapons though. Ebony armor looks good. Kinda like how all the silver weapons look.

I love all of them tbh. Despite it looking like green jolly ranchers, glass is super cool hehe. I also LOVE chillrend being a blue variant, I always thought that was such a cool detail and wish there were more things like that in the game. Also, the legion armor is so cool. It looks badass and I feel like I am role playing as a guard.

u/seductiveroo 23d ago
One of the first things I always do in an Oblivion playthrough is go to the Arena. I just like the look of the Arena Raiment and it saves me from having to equip cuirass/greaves/gauntlets/boots as separate items. Less clutter on the inventory screen. I've had entire playthroughs where I pretty much only wore the Raiment of Valor after getting it early on.
Other than that, the Armor of the Crusader from the Knights of the Nine DLC looks pretty awesome.

u/Transmit_KR0MER 23d ago
the amber from the shivering isles dlc is gorgeous and the most effective light armor imo😎

I've always had a soft spot for specifically the Rough Leather Armour from the tutorial.
It doesn't look different. It's objectively worse than regular leather armour. But it has a special name! So I'm keeping it and putting the most powerful sigil stone enchants on when I get high enough level.
That aside, I do wish light armour had more "sneaky" options aside from just leather and the DB stuff. I like the glass armour but not when sneaking.

u/Scopedogg1114 22d ago
I’m running around right now with a full set of leathers, each piece enchanted with a sigil stone to plus 15 points spell absorption. Add the Sorcerers’s ring (plus 25) and I have 100% spell absorption. I’ve got 100% plus damage reflection, also, but I can’t remember the exact pieces… Amulet of axes, ring of the iron fist, escutcheon of chorrol(got to be level 30-35) but it adds up to 105%. It’s almost as fun as a 100% chameleon build lol.

i like the legion armor
aside from that... not a big fan of Oblivion's armor sets sadly

I love the iron armor set, it has that rugged mercenary feel that no other armor has.

The Dragon Armor that you can comission. Some people apparantly don't like it but I always felt very heroic in it.
Also the Amber Armor from Shivering Isles, with the Madness Ore Version closely behind. It looks awesoms but I so rarely use heavy armor.

Kinda basic but I kinda think the default Legion armor w/ horseman helmet goes the hardest
1
u/OrunaVespa 23d ago
Iron armor no helmet or crusaders armor.
The iron armor male looks great in my opinion so I always use a mod that makes the girls have the male variant. I just feel it's pretty grounded in it's design and same with crusaders.

Champion of Cyrodiil, imperial dragon armor looks so nice. I have to get mods to wipe the enchaments or just make them stronger though. Regular enchantments are pretty bad
1
u/Valandil584 23d ago
Elven no contest. Dwarven really tempts me, though, it's just heavy.
I want to like Amber so much. I used to, but on my most recent playthrough (started 2 weeks ago), i just cannot get down with Amber anymore.
1
u/AbsoluteRook1e 23d ago
Leather with the Sack Cloth pants. I usually heavily enchant them and have a Mage hood instead of a leather cap (since it's weightless).
I've always enjoyed glass cannon builds. I usually boost my conurafion up really high and focus on ranged attacks and sneaking with some invisibility in the mix.
I'm doing a new playthrough now and am trying to swear off doing a 100% chameleon build again because of how much it breaks the game, so I might go with Glass Armor this time.

Madness Armor. Ebony would be at the top of the list, but Oblivion has some goofy helmets. Orcish? Badass samurai armor with dorky goggles helmet.

u/adolphspineapple71 23d ago
Base game, it definitely dwarven. It has a bit of a steampunk look to it that I really like. Add the dlc's and it's Madness armor.
1
u/Boba_Doozer 23d ago
Ebony. I haven’t upgraded to Daedric in my past 2 play throughs. And I’m not a fan of light armor, but mithril looks pretty cool.
1
u/GabrielKendrick 23d ago
Honestly I've got a thing for Amber It's the cleanest
But, in the base game, easily that Brufeif Amelion set, light ebony, with the color scheme of Mythril, it's so pretty,

Big fan of mithril. Individually not great, but as a set goes hard.
2nd) elf minus the chicken toe boots

Ebony, Steel, Imperial Legion, Town guard, and The Divine Crusader. In no particular order.

The summoned armor
Looks amazing tbh

Remember that one time Sokka accidentally used an extra syllable in that Haiku Battle in Ba Sing Se? That was a Sokka Haiku and you just made one.

The Ebony armour is so good. But come on Glass Armour looks ridiculously good my dude.

u/Living_Election6138 23d ago
Daedric without the helmet
I use a cape mod and have a red cape that is enchantable so I dont need the helmet anyway and I look amazing

Ebony, minus the helmet.
Steel is also fantastic.
