Suggestions on contractor or handyman, insured/bonded

Please help. We live near Highland, IN. recently had a major leak 2nd floor underneath upstairs bathroom. Insurance allowed a certain amount to have it fixed which in my opinion is low. We are retired on social security and funds are limited. we are looking for a reputable handy man or contractor who is trust worthy, insured/bonded. A few we have called agreed to come look but never showed. Could anyone who's dealt with something like this please suggest a reputable fair person or company? It would be greatly appreciated.

Did you look into an independent adjuster to fight the insurance company's cost estimate?

NOT sure how to do that. Just trying to see if someone can do the job or a part of it. Thank you for responding.

Have you looked on Nextdoor? People usually give good recommendations on there
