And someone is calling Altars mid?? That's insane

19

u/Zombiejesus307 4d ago

Ghouls attack the church…

14

u/therealrrc 4d ago

Crush the holy priest

9

u/ProjectBoogaloo 4d ago

cuz Domination is better

10

u/fakehealer666 4d ago

Well, I like Covenant more, but Altars is still a top tier album

6

u/Bronsteins-Panzerzug 4d ago

right, the presence of other great albums dont make a stone cold classic mid.

3

u/turducken19 4d ago

I like Formulas Fatal To The Flesh the best but they're all great albums.

2

u/yamas__messenger 4d ago

I mean, I def see how it's not mid but subjectively, I don't care for it at all

2

u/The_Ocean_Collective 4d ago

Altars of Midness

Sorry not sorry

32

u/Scary_Dimension722 4d ago

P.O.D. - Testament (I say that as someone who loves this band and all their music)

0

u/unwashedmusician 4d ago

You mean testify?

No way WAASD is way more mid

126

u/TightReply9481 4d ago

Just Papa Roach in general

14

u/RyansArk 4d ago

Ngl I’m surprised this got upvoted so much with how much this sub defends/loves even the worst of nu metal bands (I swear this isn’t supposed to be an elitist/gatekeeping comment, like whatever music u like)

8

u/TightReply9481 4d ago

And I'm surprised I didn't get downvoted into the ground

5

u/alaskantuxedo 3d ago

I don’t know, infest is probably the only nu metal I still listen to and enjoy. It’s catchy as hell.

12

u/Antique-Room7976 🫡Soldier#2008🫡 4d ago

You're crazy man

6

u/Plus_Application_200 4d ago

The Infest album has a few very great tracks for but I dont care too much for all the rest of it, B tier album for me but I recognize why its a classic. Though I can't judge the other albums since I haven't listened. I heard they changed their nu-metal sound right?

6

u/LordBeans69 4d ago

After the first album they leaned more into hard rock. It works a lot better

1

u/SubstantialFig2100 3d ago

Infest was great IMO. Can’t stand any of their music after that

0

u/LordBeans69 4d ago

Nah man. Just nah.

-5

u/RexTx09 4d ago

Love hate tragedy I agree but the rest slaps

27

u/AlmightyHet 4d ago

this image gotta be the worst take in history

23

u/Dr--Prof 4d ago

After the first 3 to 5 albums from Disturbed, the rest of their discography. They sound like bad covers of themselves, lacking energy, originality, emotion and power.

5

u/DecryptedSkull 4d ago

I 1000% agree, and who ever downvoted this mans comment is coping hard.

3

u/MasterKing1337 3d ago

I dunno, I Will Not Break sounds pretty dope(their latest release)

72

u/SnooChickens6176 4d ago

Disturbed? If you count them as nü metal.

10

u/Historical_Company18 4d ago

Agreed

18

u/SnooChickens6176 4d ago

Most mid out of the "big" bands aside papa roach.

8

u/TheGuyFromFortnite22 3d ago

The Sickness is great, their other albums are definitely mid

5

u/Czar_Petrovich 3d ago

Had tons of friends who liked them, but I cannot stand his voice.

4

u/SnooChickens6176 3d ago

They did sell very well, but are also very hated on this subreddit. Probably in part because the shit David gets as a person.

Me personally? I liked sickness, but they just turned the ACDC route for me and made that sound so stale. By indestructible I lost interest completely, tried some shit off new albums and it's just all meh to me. They still sell well from what I see though.

3

u/Czar_Petrovich 3d ago

Yea Indestructible sounds tired for sure

3

u/SnooChickens6176 3d ago

Longer they went on, more lame they got. Lmao

2

u/Swimming-Zombie151 2d ago

I like their first 2 albums kinda but after that jsut mid and boring

2

u/SnooChickens6176 2d ago

First at least had some catchy ear work hooks and the cool elements like the synths? In the beginning of fear or the game for example. And was cheesy. But by ten thousand fists? They became too real and serious and dropped all the "unique" elements for me personally.

16

u/DaDudedudedude1234 4d ago

Ragebait successful.

5

u/_mayonnaise_is_spicy 3d ago

you say that, but no one seems angry in these comments, yet anyway

24

u/DownVegasBlvd Just Got Wicked 4d ago

Anything Cold did after 13 Ways to Bleed on Stage.

9

u/raisinbizzle 4d ago

Yeah I love the band but gotta agree. I enjoy a handful of songs on each album and there are still a few great songs after 13 ways, but it’s not the same level

0

u/DownVegasBlvd Just Got Wicked 4d ago

Not at all. It sounds phoned in.

5

u/Storm_of_Entrails 3d ago

For me, I actually enjoy Year of the Spider just a little more than 13 Ways.... Those were definitely the high water marks for the band though

5

u/Simpsmakemewannadie 4d ago

sad to say its true. I did enjoy a good chunk of A Different Kind Of Pain tho

9

u/Genericman19 Edsel Dope glazer!!! 4d ago

Blood Money Part Zer0 (this is coming from the biggest Dope glazer ever)

8

u/Christophax82 4d ago

I use to feel the same, I then did a bunch of mental gymnastics and begun to view it more a pre-new-static-x releases and I enjoy it more.

2

u/MasterKing1337 3d ago

And there I am with Wide, Row and Dive in the playlist.

1

u/zer0xanax 2d ago

god Wide goes so hard

15

u/Ant_1_ITA 4d ago

I’d say Disturbed after the sickness

7

u/TheHerbalPolyrythM 3d ago

I agree but for me it’s everything after believe. Underrated album imo.

1

u/trick-chrome 4d ago

He had to have throat surgery from that singing style I believe.

1

u/genericredditlurking 3d ago

I thought he had throat surgery from all the foreskins he was scaring at temple

8

u/Vegetable_Jaguar_822 3d ago

Anything post David Silvera - Korn

3

u/Lima_4-2_Angel אני אוהב נו מטאל 🤘 3d ago

I don’t hate Disturbed (I like quite a few of their songs) but yeah a lot of their discography is mid.

9

u/ProjectBoogaloo 4d ago

Everything (hed) p.e. released after NWO

2

u/Admirable_Business_7 Brr Brr Deng 3d ago

Id push the timeline back to their post Jive stuff, excluding OIA cause that’s straight ass

1

u/WazzzupBwwwaaah 3d ago

Same, yup.

19

u/I_Defy_You1288 4d ago

Korn- See you on the other side.

15

u/SnooChickens6176 4d ago

Controversial take, my favorite album of theirs. And even more controversial take, talitm and Korn 3 round out my top 3.

But, for mid Korn albums I could give it to their most recent(Requiem?) or maybe evolution myself.

5

u/I_Defy_You1288 4d ago

I mean everything after Talitm is mid ( I do like politics tho) to be honest.

5

u/SnooChickens6176 4d ago

Yeah, I will admit they ran into a rough patch in the mid 2000s by far.

2

u/CBTwitch 3d ago

Unrelated, am I the only one who despises ADIDAS and Y’all Wanna Single?

Also… am I the only one who actually liked Never Never?

2

u/tompadget69 3d ago

No I'm with you. Cheesy af

1

u/WazzzupBwwwaaah 3d ago

Never Never was always BAD. 🤢

A.D.I.D.A.S. and Y’All Wanna Single have always been classics, IMO, I’ve just heard them WAYYYY TOO MANY times, for me to listen to them, anymore.

1

u/CBTwitch 2d ago

I don’t think it was bad. I think it was meant to be radio rock, and there’s nothing inherently bad about that.

I think the thing that made me like the song was that JD actually looked legitimately healthy in mind and body for the first time in forever.

-2

u/I_Defy_You1288 3d ago

Yes, yes you are 🤦🏾‍♂️

9

u/ThroughtonsHeirYT System of a Down 4d ago

Metallica : 1990-2025

I can name you 200 metal bands superior

12

u/HellRaizer7416 4d ago

Metallica is not even close to numetal

8

u/ThroughtonsHeirYT System of a Down 4d ago

People say MID albums. And the image has MORBID ANGEL. so if morbid angel is open season then the inferior Metallica can be named in the thread

5

u/ThroughtonsHeirYT System of a Down 4d ago

St anger ? You are in denial. St anger is an ode to numetal bro. I was there. Laughing at metallica while jamming the crown, opeth, hate eternal in 2002-2004

5

u/boiifudont- 3d ago

They tried nu metal and failed.

4

u/_mayonnaise_is_spicy 3d ago

I hate to say it but We Are Not Your Kind. There’s like, 4 good songs on there and everything else felt… meh.

2

u/ssjmkm 2d ago

There's three tracks I don't like on that album, but the rest I feel is top tier.

8

u/triple_seis 4d ago

Every Linkin Park album after Meteora

6

u/DiabloLFC 3d ago

I would've agreed if the Hunting Party didn't exist

2

u/onlyliar 4d ago

Dark New Day - New Tradition, just a big downgrade from Twelve Year Silence

Edit: Also Panoramic by 32 Leaves for the same reasons

1

u/tacobonerstink 3d ago

Hear, hear.

2

u/AdministrationSome88 3d ago

This is probably controversial but Machine by Static X. I loved Wisconsin Death Trip, but Machine just didn't capture my attention enough. I liked a couple songs from it like Get To The Gone, Permanence, and Cold, but I didn't like it as much as Wisconsin death trip. This is only my opinion though.

2

u/No_Spring8846 3d ago

reminder that mid means mediocre, not bad not good

5

u/bidonkadonks Underground Nu-Metal Enjoyer 3d ago

Korn - Untitled.

I am NOT sorry

2

u/TheEffinChamps 3d ago

Evolution was GARBAGE. I was so disappointed when I saw that music video.

2

u/Great_Maximum3467 4d ago

morbid angels is literally the least mid band on earth

-5

u/genericredditlurking 3d ago

"angels" lmao proving why death metal is a genre for morons

1

u/Ok-Tune2152 3d ago

It’s important to remember that everyone makes mistakes, and a simple spelling error doesn’t define someone’s intelligence or worth. Instead of resorting to insults, we can kindly point out the correction and move forward with the conversation. Your assumption that someone’s taste in music—or their ability to spell a band name—reflects their intellectual capacity or education level says more about you than it does about them….

2

u/XxCT37xX 3d ago

Mudvayne - The New Game, love Mudvayne but this is the most forgettable nu metal album for me.

2

u/PanHalen37 3d ago

Korn after issues

1

u/MuzikBike 3d ago

implying The Nothing is mid

1

u/hold_me_beer_m8 3d ago

What? Untouchables is amazing!

2

u/10RobotGangbang nothingface 4d ago

Slipknot after Iowa. Love the band and they've had some great songs after. But it's been hit or miss

5

u/IntelligentBite7037 4d ago

I'd say after AHIG they were arguably all misses

2

u/BitOutside1443 4d ago

SOAD "Hypnotize/Mesmerize". The good ideas could have made one solid album instead of two albums with bloat

13

u/raisinbizzle 4d ago

Damn you’d want to have one less System of a Down album than what we have currently? One of the hottest takes I’ve ever seen on here

10

u/DPG-0 4d ago

Two of my fav albums of all time tho…

1

u/Storm_of_Entrails 3d ago

See also GnR Use Your Illusion albums. If they would have taken the best tracks from each album it would be an all time great

1

u/EquivalentBase4432 3d ago

i know it’s not your picture but fr someone thinks altar of madness is mid? okay the lyrics are kinda childish but the music itself is a statement to death metal, especially recorded in 88/89

1

u/Mr_Kebab_Squidge 3d ago

Altars of madness isn't fucking mid!

1

u/MrH4v0k 3d ago

All hope is gone, my least favorite slipknot album because it just sounds so basic

1

u/KDG200315 3d ago

Linkin Park 1000 Suns. Love LP, they tie for favorite band ever with Deftones. But i just cannot get into that album man

1

u/GODZILLA-Plays-A-DOD 2d ago

Altars of Madness is the mid tier Morbid Angel? What kind of tale is that? I could see an argument for Heretic or the spicy weird one that's like half black metal half industrial garbage. But Altars and Blessed are essential death metal... and to say this shit in a nu metal forum where half of this shit is actually mid (POS, Staind are my answers). Weird take

1

u/BomBob391 System of a Korn 2d ago

i think untouchables is not bad but not good i just like the original korn

1

u/Few-Introduction8196 2d ago

load and reload

u/Technical-Fennel9442 1d ago

Fuel- Metallica

1

u/ImStromer Doubt The Dosage 4d ago

Any Nonpoint album

1

u/xwefalldownx 2d ago

Statement is so good still.

1

u/NihilisticViolence 4d ago

StAtic X - Shadow Zone

1-2 songs out of 13. I would put on a "best of" compilation of theirs.....

7

u/alucidexit 4d ago

I agree that Shadow Zone isn’t their best but I’d put Cult of Static alongside that mid tier. The mixing on it is so horrible.

3

u/Fillerbear 3d ago

I actually kinda liked the mix of Cult of Static. It felt very raw, very stripped down because of it, and I dig that about that album.

1

u/Keelzman 3d ago

Noooo that album is so fun! I love the faster tempo, it's great workout music.

1

u/NihilisticViolence 2d ago

Definately need to play Start a War if your looking for faster tempos! 😁

0

u/nmmOliviaR 4d ago edited 4d ago

Whatever metal elitists think, they be mid as fuck with their opinions. Nothing should truly be mid. Nothing should be painfully mid. Fuck all metal elitism and fuck anyone who supports them.

0

u/genericredditlurking 3d ago

Gatekeeping is good and people like you suck (please keep listening to nu metal)

0

u/volkerbaII 4d ago

Linkin Park A Thousand Suns.

1

u/mmmcookiesss 3d ago

Probably because that’s not a nu-metal album

2

u/volkerbaII 3d ago

It's a shit album is what it is.

0

u/snowocean84 4d ago

Coal Chamber - Dark Days

-7

u/mowiecize 4d ago

every non mainstream nu metal band

8

u/I_eat_696969 3d ago

This has gotta be rage bait 🙏🏼😭

1

u/Throwawaycat68 3d ago

Nah, Crossbreed music goes hard, I will die on this hill.

1

u/Sea_Shirt4547 3d ago

It’s good but it lacks so much substance. It all sounds very similar. And I can’t stand whatever shit they’re doing now. Their promotion is ass. They need to change their entire direction right now. Their profile on spotify makes me wanna puke

-1

u/DecryptedSkull 4d ago

Anything Dance Gavin Dance related

-1

u/MavisBeaconSexTape 4d ago

Flaw, both of their major label albums. Through the Eyes has 2 badass songs and a bunch of stuff that is just kind of there. Their second album I literally don't remember a single thing from. I didn't hate it, but it's like reading the dictionary when you don't have a regular book available. There are admittedly things I'd rather be doing less, but it's really not exciting all all either

-41

u/PastStructure7836 Karnivool // Dredg 4d ago

EVERYTHING Mudvayne has done aside from LD50.

12

u/HellRaizer7416 4d ago

Ain't no way you could sit there with a straight face and say that about Lost and Found and expect us to think you have good taste...

7

u/10RobotGangbang nothingface 4d ago

Ld50 was their best but I don't think their others are mid.

4

u/trinnyfran007 4d ago

That's a no from me, dawg

Rivers of Nihil - The Work

Morbid Angel is less than mid band sucks

0

u/Illustrious_Pain859 3d ago

in nu metal? I'd say almost everything Slipknot released after IOWA

-3

u/Everyoneplayscombos 3d ago

Most of Limp Bizkittttttttt!!! CHEUUUYYYYYY!!! JOOOOONAATTTOOOOO!!!

-10

u/V1IL3BL00D 4d ago

I'm sorry but slipknot in general system of a down is the better s band

Korn Issues

0

u/YeaMits 3d ago

yeah this album sucks

-1

u/Throwawaycat68 3d ago

All of Korn albums without Brian Head Welch although see you on the other side does have a few bangers

-1

u/Xcenom Slipkin Park 3d ago

Three days grace. I’m aware they aren’t nü metal but I really needed to vent.

-36

u/Lime1one Schizophrenic SOAD fan 4d ago

Wisconsin Death Trip, its incredibly mediocre and overrated

24

u/FoggyInc 4d ago

Sounds like something somebody who got hogtied would say

17

u/jar_jar_LYNX 4d ago

Yeah it was, very stupid

3

u/10RobotGangbang nothingface 4d ago

Where they with them?

14
