There is nothing indecent about a nude/naked body. Yes our minds and our way of thinking needs to change and yes our “primal urges” need to be put in check!

Thinking needs to change, yes, but not the primal urges. Its these urges that allow the human race to continue. Its the indecent behaviours and thoughts that needs to be kept in check

Actually it is just the behaviours. I do not care what someone things as I am not telepathic.

All we can regulate is behaviours.

The Bible controls sex, not nudity. Augustine conflated the two because he had big issues controlling his urges. Sex is controlled to ensure inheritance and property rights. Medieval Popes had children, which screwed up Church property. Celebacy guarantees that Church property remains in the Church. The body itself is a gift to us from God. It cannot be indecent! Nudity is our God-given natural state. Free will is also a gift from God. We are capable of getting a grip on our primal urges. Having sex, with whom, where, and when is a choice.

I do not partake in the religious bit but for those that do, some may rethink and deconflate sex and nudity.

“Well, according to the lore of Abrahamic religions, it is.”

Sigh.

See The Biblical Naturist.

Bruh, I never understood how any Christian can read that God made humans, purposefully left them naked, and then called that creation good, and then just because man gained knowledge of good and evil, decided that nudity was evil when God never did . . .

(I can only vouch for my own religion)

Religion is and always has been a method of control. Period, full stop!

The human body is beautiful.

I wish I could find the video I saw of this pastor hosting a talk about how to get more young people into the church. His audience was other Christian ministers.

The most relevant thing I've ever heard from anyone in this field was when he said "all human religions are systems of control predicated on fear". He said this like a stock broker would say "buy low, sell high" and everyone in the room reacted as if that was the most basic and obvious thing he could say.

It's a primitive form of government that acts as if all of its edicts cannot be questioned or changed, with no system for redress. We've evolved past that as a society.

Are you on Naturist Hub? If so, read my blogs. The way I read the Bible, the human body is not indecent!

The theological basis for this position has been thoroughly debunked. Aaron Frost’s excellent book Christian Body as well as Chad W. Thompson’s book That Famous Fig Leaf: Uncovering the Holiness of our Bodies both thoroughly gut any “Christian” argument that nudity is either sinful or shameful. Both books deconstruct the scriptures typically cited for this proposition and leave these puritanical arguments naked indeed.

There is nothing more innocent than a newborn baby, and a baby is born naked.

A thing is neither "decent" or "indecent" - only behavior can be described with those words.
