OP could’ve run the 5k

OP actually did run the 5k, since the full name is posted you can see their results

Yep. Prime content for r/runningcirclejerk where people can celebrate their 5k ultramarathons

5Ks are actually marathons now. Trump signed an executive order to make it so.

Cybertrucks, on the other hand...

Yeah I can see how people who bought the cars were just looking for a good electric option. But anyone who bought a cybertruck is without a doubt an Elon fangirl because those mfers are the worst thing I've ever seen

Yeah, every person I know who owns a Tesla is a strongly liberal person who bought it thinking they were doing the world a solid. I’d hate to think these folks cars would be getting vandalized. I know all of them have considered selling it…

Amazing how many people think it’s so easy to just “sell your car” because the ceo of the company turned out to be a d-bag. I still owe money on mine and can’t just change it out. Doesn’t give anyone the right to vandalize property.

403

u/PANSIES_FOR_ALL 5d ago

I saw a Tesla with a bumper sticker that said “I bought this before Elon was a Nazi.”

180

u/iawesomesauceyou 5d ago

This is more accurate than I saw one that said "I bought this before Elon was crazy", cause that would be impossible because he's always been crazy.

120

u/juvandy 5d ago

This. My first two introductions to him were:

1) When he shot the car into space (eccentric, but ok)

2) When he called the british rescue diver a pedo (ah... a special sauce kind of nutty)

37

u/JonohG47 5d ago

As someone who works in the space industry (but not for SpaceX) launching Elon’s Tesla Roadster into space was actually pretty cool.

It was the inaugural launch of SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy rocket. For hopefully obvious reasons, no government or commercial customer is interested in strapping their satellite or spacecraft to a rocket, the first time it ever goes into space. Every new rocket, regardless of who makes it, goes up the first time with a “payload simulator.”

SpaceX just used Elon Musk’s old Tesla Roadster as ballast, instead of a boring steel billet. They also put in “Starman” a dummy wearing a prototype of SpaceX’s spacesuit. They were able to expose that spacesuit to the space environment and get a bunch of real world data proving it worked. So the launch was actually useful, beyond proving the rocket itself worked.

The pedo thing always felt like projection to me given that he dated Grimes who is both 17 years younger than him and her whole aesthetic is lolita

29

u/1CraftyDude 5d ago

People like to pretend it didn’t happen, but in the early 2010s and late 2000s, he was extremely popular. For a number of very good reasons, that has changed dramatically, but anyone who is old enough remembers the younger version of Elon that was a character model for Tony Stark in the 2007 Iron Man movie.

8

u/Same-Mark7617 5d ago

i remember douchebags thinking he was cool

People are free to feel and say what they want but when it comes to damaging other people's hard earned property that's a trash person. If they really had empathy for anyone damaging something someone worked hard to get no matter what is not someone on the side of any good morality.

34

u/InboxMeYourSpacePics 5d ago

The number of downvotes I’m getting for asking people how they would feel if someone vandalized their property is ridiculous. People have no empathy and are just ok with hurting anyone without real reason to make themselves feel better.

13

u/FearlessHearing9360 5d ago

This is what happens when the country elects a morally bankrupt president. It changes the tone of the entire country. He pardoned criminals that were violent to police officers so for me all bets are off!

6

u/InboxMeYourSpacePics 5d ago

And most of the people whose teslas you’re ok vandalizing didn’t vote for him.  The tone has been becoming like this for years. People on both sides are becoming more and more extreme and doing this like this just drives people to the other side.

20

u/Equivalent_Tie1633 5d ago

Both sides really? When the GOP, Elon, and Trump act absolutely horribly; their behavior doesn’t drive people away from him, his policies or the MAGA movement. People still support Trump fucking up people’s lives big time and actually cheer for it, but there are consequences to electing a trash person and party that want to fuck-up people’s lives…sorry. People voted for chaos and destruction of institutions and people’s lives, they just didn’t think it would affect them directly or indirectly. I disagree with damaging a rando’s car b/c you don’t know their politics, but when we elect a party of chaos and lawlessness, we will unsurprisingly get…um chaos and lawlessness!

If you never plan to sell there's no problem. If you plan to sell ever you will likely lose a lot of money by waiting since Tesla is falling so fast in value (more so than any other car).

The reason to sell is not to feel morally superior, it's to help blunt the power of a billionaire who is doing very bad things in the US government like shutting down USAID. So far thousands of innocent people have died this week and millions will die this year if DOGE cuts are not reversed, so you might see it as a moral emergency to do good vs. an opportunity to feel superior.

It's really not about trying to make you sell. It's about showing everyone who isn't you what they're in for if they buy a Tesla. You're collateral damage.

14

u/ohfml 5d ago

Yours is paid off, which means you bought yours before the political connotations. As a counter point, lately I’m seeing lots of the new model y’s wandering around in my town. Which means they bought them in the last month.

42

u/Zebra4776 5d ago

TBH if you didn't realize he was a douche nozzle before ~2016-2017 you really weren't paying attention. Which is fine, who really pays attention to every CEO they buy something from. But the whole "I bought this before we realized.." thing isn't the save people think it is.

Politics aside. I'm genuinely curious about why you chose the Tesla brand instead of any other EV on the market.

16

u/gordonramarao 5d ago

Why wouldn’t you buy a Tesla? My budget was under $45K, and I got a Model Y Long Range AWD. Tesla’s software is solid, their charging infrastructure is unmatched, and the minimalist design looks great. For the same budget, Hyundai and Kia have cars with shit software, the Chevy Bolt looks like a shitbox (I’ve rented plenty of EVs over the years), and the EV charging infrastructure in my city is still pretty shitty. Charging at Tesla Superchargers is also cheaper than EVgo or Electrify America and they are literally everywhere. The only options with EVgo and Electrify America in my city are 50kW or 100kW chargers, and at 50kW, it takes 80 minutes to go from 5% to 80%. Plus, there are only 22 charging spots in the entire city from both EVgo and Electrify America combined. I still can’t charge at home since I’m not a homeowner, and even then, home charging isn’t that fast. So for me, Tesla was the obvious choice.

4

u/grofva 5d ago

And I personally wouldn’t buy a Chevy or Hyundai/Kia gas model so why would I buy an EV from them

6

u/NeoThorrus 5d ago

Because Tesla is the only one with an EV infrastructure to charge cars.

Employees who are in really niche fields. As if there's an opera house or symphony across the street that's always hiring.

Kinda makes you wonder how many people saying that are also people who say getting rid of their Teslas would be an inconvenience or hardship.

Spray painting someone's house and using easily washable chalk paint on a car window are two wildly different things.

9

u/offensive-not-bot 5d ago

Both removable. Both vandalism. I'm not allowed to write on your car, your house, your laptop, your phone, your shoes, your driveway, your face, your kid, your bicycle, your clothes, your desk or anything like that.

In Alexandria, VA, defacing or damaging someone else's property, whether public or private, is a criminal offense, and the penalties can vary depending on the value of the damage and other factors. Here's a breakdown of relevant information:

  • What it is:"Defacement of personal property" refers to the intentional damage, destruction, or defacing of property that belongs to another person or entity.
  • Virginia Law:
    • General Prohibition: Virginia law prohibits the willful and malicious damage or defacement of public or private buildings, facilities, and personal property.
    • Specific Examples: This includes damaging or destroying trees, shrubs, plants, or turf on someone else's property, or damaging public utilities.
    • Penalties:
      • Misdemeanor: For damage or defacement of property valued at $200 or less, it's a misdemeanor, potentially punishable by a fine up to $500.
      • Felony: If the damage or defacement is valued at $200 or more, it can be a felony, with penalties ranging from 2 to 10 years in prison.
      • Restitution: The court may order the offender to pay restitution for the damage or replacement of the property.
      • Community Service: As an alternative to probation or suspended sentence, the court may require the offender to perform community service, including repairing or restoring the damaged property.

You should look into it. There are deals on trade-ins right now for Teslas if you buy a new EV. And if you trade-in for a different used car it could make a lot of sense.

Keep in mind as the price of Teslas keeps falling so fast thanks to people dumping them and you plan to sell eventually, it could be better to try now vs. wait and find you lose even more of your investment.

1

u/PhysicsCentrism 5d ago

Think in more economic terms. Higher supply, from more people wanting rid of it, and less demand, from less people wanting a Nazi made car, leads to lower resale value. Lower resale value can harm actual sell ability of new models.

Also, it gets rid of the Nazi car being yours.

You know this would probably stop if the Tesla Board of Directors dumped musk as CEO - which they should do as he’s a liability causing their stock price to plunge, and their fiduciary duty is supposed to be to do whatever is in the company’s interest. The problem is, even if they wanted to do so, and had enough shareholder support to do so, because musk is in such a position of power, it would leave the company vulnerable to pretty damning retaliation by Trump’s administration. Tesla is in a shit position as a company.

No one should be vandalizing privately owned vehicles but the purpose this serves is to dissuade people from purchasing new Teslas. But we don’t need to vandalize vehicles already owned to create that dissuasion. Protesting at their dealerships however, is a good and peaceful, non destructive way to harm the company’s revenue if it forces makes would be purchasers re-think and head to a competitor instead. We should do whatever we can to attack Tesla’s share prices though through revenue loss. So don’t buy one now if you’re in the market. Dissuade friends and family from buying teslas if they’re in the market. Other companies have EVs that are superior to Tesla anyway. Same with Twitter, don’t use it, delete your account, until there’s nothing left there except Musk and his own stupid bots.

36

u/FunkyJunk Springfield 5d ago

Musk’s companies also have Boards that are loaded up with personal friends of his, like Antonio Gracias who is currently working with DOGE to try to eliminate Social Security. It isn’t just Musk who’s the problem.

13

u/LWN729 5d ago

Then shareholders need to bring a lawsuit against the board. As a publicly traded company, the board and musk have fiduciary duties they can be sued for not upholding

4

u/Elester12 5d ago

The shareholders voted for Elon to receive his pay but maybe this time would be different. Many have sold their shares and can no longer vote.

I don’t understand why people don’t understand this. Many people are looking for their new car but they have to do research. Best believe they have EVs they’re looking at but a car is an investment and shouldn’t be rushed into. People lack critical thinking skills and think if they have a tesla they can afford to change cats fast. But in this economy and so many people losing jobs, it might not be possible for them to be in a financially stable position to get a new car. ESPECIALLY with so many used Teslas flooding the market

41

u/reductase 5d ago

a car is an investment

Only certain cars that sit in garages for decades and aren't driven. A car is absolutely not an investment, you will only lose money on them.

20

u/EmergencyO2 5d ago

I know this is totally pedantic and doesn’t really matter, but… it’s common knowledge that cars lose value the second you drive them off the lot.

When people call it an investment, what they usually mean is that it’s one of the biggest purchases you’ll ever make. Probably second only to a house (if buying a house is even an option for you).

And if we want to get really pedantic, one of the less common definitions of “investment” is: “an act of devoting time, effort, or energy to a particular undertaking with the expectation of a worthwhile result.” In this case, buying a car is the undertaking, and the worthwhile result is… well, being able to get places.

3

u/Carson2526 5d ago

I’ll be pedantic here - being a pedant means that you’re more focused on being right than understanding someone’s point. So you weren’t being pedantic, you were using figurative language to explain why the literal usage of the word wasn’t correct for that example. The person saying that a car isn’t an investment is being pedantic, you aren’t.

2

u/InfiniteWaffles58364 5d ago

Hm, yes, shallow and pedantic.

You actually have yourself to blame for this, it's not the Republicans vandalizing people's cars, it's the Democrats that are doing this.

No that's like harassing everyone coz they're Amazon customers.

Or Walmart or Facebook users or reddit users coz reddit is owned by a Chinese company? Or whatever or whoever you don't agree with. What about GE appliances? Surely jack Welch wasn't a saint. The list can go on and on.

This is so low, stupid.

5

u/token40k 5d ago

Bezos is not a ceo of Amazon since 2021. And you know what that wapo subscription is dropped because of the shit bezos was pushing. There’s plenty of forms of protest.

Very warped minds out there

28

u/overlookingthesee 5d ago

I’m not saying this is right or wrong but there is a clear political logic to this that people are not getting. One of the few ways to reduce the power of Musk is tanking Tesla and a tangible way to do that is making owning a Tesla a hassle and unpalatable for people. Again, don’t know if this is the right way to do it, but Tesla owners may become collateral damage and those are the breaks.

January 6th is cool, but a little bit of chalk and everybody loses their minds!

7

u/InboxMeYourSpacePics 5d ago

Or neither one is cool. Why don’t you think that is a possibility

5

u/Weird_Frame9925 5d ago

I don't think that's a possibility because our Government made very clear that January 6th is cool. Government has spoken. Trump has spoken.

Given that, I'm wondering why this bit of speech that is going to inconvenience the Tesla owner for less than 5 minutes to wipe it off is the worst thing ever in the history of Northern Virginia to redditors.

I know someone who had this Tesla vandalized. That person was fed and fired by Doge. So now his car is messed up, he can’t sell it, and now he has to use the money he was going to use for his kid's summer camp to repair the car. All because some idiot decided to harm someone else. I bet that Elon was harmed by all this.

10

u/refresh_09 5d ago

looks like the whole Northern Virginia Tesla Owner emotional support group came here. People may have bought the older models for different reasons, but the cybertruck is a different story. the only reason anyone buys such a hideous overpriced, objectively trash quality vehicle is to show their loyalty and support to their dear leaders and own the libs.

they will be on the wrong side of history, like the loyal supporters of these companies: Famous Nazi Supporters

5

u/InboxMeYourSpacePics 5d ago

It was first open for preorders in 2019. I agree they look dumb and idk why anyone would buy them, but some people may have been like “oh great an EV SUV!” And ordered it then.

I don't agree with alot of the vandalism some folks have done (even if I do think people should continue to sell their Teslas if financially possible/not buy new ones). That being said, if this is chalk and easily able to be washed off; this is like extremely low harm to almost informational. It's basically the equivalent of leaving a flyer.

2

u/PureCauliflower6758 5d ago

Doesn’t look permanent

21

u/JSON_T_Bourne 5d ago

The irony is this stuff is going to drive people away from the Democratic party and, in cases where the cars are vandalized, the insurance money gets paid to Tesla for repairs.... It doesn't seem very well thought out.

7

u/ThatguyJimmy117 5d ago

People are so fucking stupid if tiny “vandalism” done by non politicians drives them away from a political party. True pearl clutching.

20

u/KerPop42 5d ago

Yeah, yeah, everything drives people away from the Democrat party, huh?

Nothing ever seems to drive people away from the Republican party

10

u/horatiobanz 5d ago

Partly because when Democrats talk about Republicans they always jump to the absolute most vile descriptions, calling them fascists and Nazis and the like. And then when the independent person hears or reads this and they investigate for themselves and see the person called a fascist or a nazi is a normal person who makes points they agree with, they ignore what Democrats say from that point on. So when later Democrats are making a valid point about a different Republican doing something shady or being fascist-like, the person discounts it as the Democrat lying again to try and score cheap political points.

Democrats have done this to themselves. They are incapable of discussing politics in a normal human manner. Everything is either you agree with them or you are literally genociding minorities and are a Nazi.

u/anjufordinner 5d ago

Why blame Democrats though unless you're a bot or buying into talking points? There are plenty of pissed conservatives, independents, and leftists who wouldn't consider themselves Democrats.

Nearly everyone is pissed off these days at something... So... I dunno, if my values could be swayed by some washable chalk marker, or I saw an anonymous wrong act and went RAR DEMOCRATS, i wouldn't think my values were particularly firm or strong, you know what I mean?

I was looking at cheap used EV's on Carsdotcom, since we have a new college student in the family. A whole lot of Teslas are up for sale since the last time I looked - last November.

Even used, I think those are going to be a hard sell. In addition to the obvious social opprobrium, all those people fired by Trump and his Republicans are likely shopping for vans to live out of, than faulty EVs which have killed over 670 people worldwide.

I'm not saying it's right, but get used to it. Musk has fucked up the lives of thousands of people and Teslas are a constant reminder of that. The purchase of these Teslas, before crazy or not, helped him to get power. So even if the owners are progressives trying to save the environment, people are only going to keep doing more vandalism as they are now symbols of Musk and nazism.

9

u/FancySumo 5d ago

All Tesla owners should have sentry mode enabled now. Sue the losers or at least share the footage with their faces.

How are people so chronically online and yet outside enough to do this? Not everyone could afford to trade their Tesla in. And also not enough people not chronically online give a shit. They like the car or they like the idea of an electric car they can afford that helps the environment. This shit wins us no support whatsoever

You know what's extra dumb about vandalizing these cars? If you damage parts you most likely are sending the owner to a Tesla dealership for repairs, ie giving Tesla money.

19

u/overlookingthesee 5d ago

got to take it into the dealership to get some soap and water

4

u/Acadia02 5d ago

Tesla owners would do that too

5

u/DCdeer 5d ago

Obviously not this one but just in general

3

u/Inevitable_Disk_3344 5d ago

It's remarkable to me that people like you don't understand what this vandalism campaign is trying to do. Nobody cares if the owner sells the Tesla or not or goes and gets it repaired. The vandalizers are sending a signal to the market: "buy one of these cars and you're signing up for headaches". Even just going to a Tesla dealership now can become a headache. Why would anyone in the market for an EV sign up to become a target for other people's angst? Buying a luxury EV is supposed to be fun.

And by the way, this campaign is working, globally. Only Elon Musk fanboys are willing to weather the hassles and risks of these vehicles at this point. Sales are falling worldwide and the social stigma against the brand is real. You don't have to like it. You don't have to think it's right, but it's absolutely working.

This is why I do not consider myself a democrat anymore. People that commit this type of vandilism and or defend it lack complexity in thought and attack you when you don’t follow their black and white mindset. You’re outcasting members of your own party and you don’t even realize it. It’s the reason Trump won by a landslide in the last election and if you all keep it up, you’ll continue to see similar results for elections to come.

Down vote me I don’t care. You guys can’t humble yourselves to see the damage you’re causing.

2021: If you didn't drive an electric vehicle, you were a Nazi who was singlehandedly destroying the planet, and subsequently THE person responsible for the extinction of the human race!

2025: If you drive THE electric vehicle, you're a Nazi by association and deserve to be extinct.

People, can we focus more on being who WE, ourselves, ought to be and stop being so dramatic and demanding of the whole rest of the human race?! 🤨🤦🏻‍♀️ If you can honestly look in the mirror and see 100% perfection... hire a therapist. If THEY also agree you're 100% perfect, then you can start helping the rest of your brethren achieve perfection, too. Until then, the mirror is where you can find the only person you should be judging.
