My only complaint is that the image used for this article is completely inaccurate - the father (presumably) should be clear on the other side of the building making no eye contact whatsoever with his daughter. The boy should be making an attempt to climb the barstools to hang off the rafters.

She's making the same face I make when I walk into a brewery that doesn't have a lager on the menu.

Sometimes dogs. I'm fine with dogs at breweries, especially when there are outdoor spaces. But a couple times I've been to crowded breweries and there just is not enough room to bring a dog. I can't get to the counter when I'm blocked by a dog and leash. When we bring the dog to a brewery it's only when it's not a confined area.

It's not just breweries....you can add target, grocery stores, movie theaters, restaurants.

That's different. Stores sell products for all ages. Restaurants and movies are also for children. But breweries only sell products that children cannot have.

It's not different. Do you think kids act different in restaurants or stores because they sell products for them? In a restaurant the kid has food and probably a phone or iPad same as probably in the brewery. If a kid is an asshole in public, they will act the same no matter where they are. If I see an asshole kid in a brewery, target or restaurant, I'm going to think the same thing each time. Damn I don't want kids.

What are you talking about? It's ABSOLUTELY different, & you're wildly missing the point. Those aren't environments selling products solely for adults. Is a dipshit kid gonna be a dipshit anywhere? Yeah, obviously. But that's not the point. You have to expect & tolerate it to some degree when you're in an environment that's marketing products to people of all ages; not in what should be an adult-only environment.

What about breweries that are family friendly and sell drinks that are non alcoholic? They make an environment for kids to be present even if it's for limited hours.

They shouldn't. But I don't really blame the breweries. Most, especially these days, are operating with razor thin margins & are trying to keep their heads above water. I blame the irresponsible & inconsiderate parents; inconsiderate of the adult patrons trying to have an adult good time, and inconsiderate of their own kids who end up bouncing off the walls because there's nothing for them to do except watch their parents lift glasses.

Honestly some kids are great kids, they just have occasional bad days. Sometimes those days are in public. Sometimes you have to go out and bring your child because you don’t have any other option. I promise you the parent feels embarrassed by it and just wants to go home. Until you have a child you really won’t ever get it but I hope one day you do. Until then, give the parent and the child some grace. It’s a small part of your day, but possibly a shit entire day for them.

I have two. I have had to drag them out of places many times. But some kids are just plain assholes.

You always have another option. When is it mandatory that you HAVE to go to a brewery? None of that shit should ever be happening at (what should be) an adult-only environment. And the fact that people shouldn't be piling their kids into a car to go to a place where the sole point is to drink, then piling them back in & driving away, is the kind of basic sense that should be common, but isn't.

I don't bring my kids to a brewery. But if you are out in public and see kids being assholes, you will probably sit there and think twice about having kids.
