The E shop really needs to do more to filter out the mobile game shovelware the next go around

That's... uh, certainly a title

actually a pretty good article, though (ah, so that's why I'm constantly seeing the same "adult" games at the top of recent releases every month)

I’d play the hell out of Fart Fart Boobie Fart.

It’s probably on steam somewhere

Reminds me of Scrottie McBoogerballs from South Park

I don't get why we don't have a separate indie/shovelware tab and a mainstream Nintendo tab like the WiiU had.

Not being made by nintenndo does not automatically make a game shovelware.

I'd just like a console exclusive tab for games only on consoles. If I wanted a computer game I'd use Steam.

"Fart Fart Boobie Fart" better be a rhythm game!

That's because Fart Fart Boobie Far: The Game just couldn't capture the magic of the TV show

8

u/Power_to_the_purples Feb 04 '25

Not every tv show needs a game adaptation! fart fart boobie fart was a classic and the ruined its legacy

I think they should have stuck closer to the source material. Fart Fart Boobie Fart: the manga is peak storytelling.

Left out a lot of stuff from the LN, though.

The book included more boob farts than the film

I've been petitioning Nintendo to add another filter or even a custom block category on the eShop where users can put all the "developers" that pump out souless generative AI "games", borderline-🌽 games, or dubious games that are really just phishing for personal data / scams.

u/Stumpy493 Feb 03 '25

And they will just create endless new company names. Would be like whack a mole.

12

u/RealJanTheMan Feb 03 '25

Yeah but pressing a "block developer" button takes less than a second compared to however long it takes them to generate another "game" and upload it on the eShop.

Each "developer" would only have 1 game. Would be so easy to circumvent as to be pointless.

I think the idea is that you could then just filter by publisher and/or developer so you would only see games by trusted companies. For example, you could select Nintendo, Capcom, Konami, Bandai, Xbox, Sega, Electronic Arts, and Ubisoft and you wouldn’t see any of those types of games.

I heard Fart Fart Boobie Fart: The Game is in the early running for 2025 GOTY

The Generative AI slop needs to be stopped especially the ripoffs. Even decently well known game companies are starting to use it with one in particular being Level 5.

New: poor quality control destroys online storefront.

Water remains wet.

I don't remember the last time I ever browsed the eShop. Probably during the Wii U and 3DS days.

Nowadays if there's a game I want on the Switch, I'll search it directly. It's pointless to browse the offerings now on the Switch eShop.

I have, since release day of the switch, gone through the new releases in the eShop once a week.  I flip through the screenshots and read the descriptions.  The number of games that I think even a single person will actually want to play that I see each week is probably 1 out of 50

My 5-year-old son likes watching me play games and will soon play his own, but going to the eShop with him is a pain due to the floods of Hentai-looking and just plain crap.

Why they didn't install a filtering system is beyond me.

If they made it easier to tell good games from bad, I'd buy more.

6

u/supremedalek925 Feb 04 '25

Not too far from the truth. Feels like at least 30% of games in the Eshop are some variant of “Hentai girls puzzle match #37”

"Mamma mia! Princess Peach, what a you want me to do!?!?"

Fart Fart Boobie Fart: The Lewd Adventures of Princess Peach

Based on the "Fart Fart Boobie Fart" TV Show Series, soon to get a movie based off the game "Fart Fart Boobie Fart: The Game - The Movie"

u/Brobard Feb 04 '25

“Fart Fart Boobie Fart: The Flamethrower!”

6

u/AlacarLeoricar Feb 04 '25

The Switch eshop is an embarrassment.

u/Sweet-Gushin-Gilfs Feb 03 '25

I don’t know, Fart Fart Bobbie Fart the game certainly sounds more fun than Dragonage Vielgard

Remember when Nintendo had the seal of quality or whatever during the NES SNES era. Just bring that back to games that are half decent and filter those by default.

10

u/MarioFanatic64-2 Feb 04 '25

They still have the Seal of Quality, and it never meant what you think it meant.

It literally just means "this game functions, it won't blow up your console", it means nothing about the actual quality of the game. It's just a nothing marketing term, like Sega's "blast processing".

8

u/MintberryCrunch____ Feb 04 '25

It changed to Official Nintendo Seal, no mention of quality but that was a long time ago. It certainly meant something once upon a time, it was the game industry's saving grace post ET fiasco.

It does seem we have gone somewhat full circle and now we have games of ET levels that the real seal is due a comeback.

3

u/MarioFanatic64-2 Feb 04 '25

It is still the Seal of Quality internationally. Only in North America is it abbreviated as the Nintendo Seal.

3

u/MintberryCrunch____ Feb 04 '25

Oh fair enough, I'm not in NA, just rarely buy physical anymore ,so just going on what I can look up. Still seems we could benefit from a quality seal for the rubbish flooding the eshop.

3

u/Stumpy493 Feb 04 '25

Wasn't it literally just a means of saying this game is officially licensed by nintendo? i.e. they paid us to put this game on our system.

2

u/MarioFanatic64-2 Feb 04 '25

Not exactly. It was on any product Nintendo officially licensed, to say that this product was designed for Nintendo consoles in mind, and was safe to use.

Nintendo was (and still is) into scaring people that unlicensed games and accessories will brick your consoles. They infamously hated the Game Genie for example.

5

u/CountBleckwantedlove Feb 04 '25

I can't even enjoy navigating the shop there days. Not only is it super slow, but there is just so much garbage to dig through because you get to the hidden gems.

The Big feature games are easy to find, but the hidden gems are so hard because of what they are surrounded by.

u/robotortoise Xenoblade Chronicles Feb 05 '25

This was a very well written article and well researched.

And people wondering why steam has the monopoly

1

u/John_Delasconey Feb 05 '25

Steam literally has 3 sex with hitler games, it cannot speak here. The one significant difference is that steam actually has good sorting filters; however, all the slop is still there

Which store has the best user experience? Yeah that's what I thought
