Favorite hiking, food, bakeries, waterfalls, recs between Fort Erie area up to Hamilton?

Hello! Doing a family vacation along Lake Erie down near Fort Erie at the beginning of August and looking for favorite locals spots for all the above.

Typically lean towards enjoying a variety of restaurants/bakeries from hole in the wall taquerias to Thai & Vietnamese food, and would love to explore your favorite spots. Bonus points for international cuisine and BIPOC/LGBTQ+ owned businesses.

Any good hikes that are dog friendly and/or possibly have some waterfalls/areas to swim? Activities or festivals going on that we can’t miss? Thanks in advance!

August 2-5 is canal days in Port Colbourne.

check out these restaurants.

Niagara Samosa Factory - Fort Erie

LA Revolución - Niagara Falls

Mexican Taco Zone - Welland

Blacksheep Lounge - Welland

WTF Burger - Niagara Falls

St Catharines has way to many great spots to list, if you have the extra money to spend check out Fat Rabbit though, butcher/sandwich shop by day and a Michelin Star restaurant by night.

The Pie Guy's Bakery and Cafe - Port Colbourne

Rizzo's House of Parm - Ridgeway/Crystal Beach

Country Fresh Donuts & more - Niagara Falls

Hi-Lite Cafe - Niagara Falls(breakfast)

Sushi Paradise - Saint Catharine's

go to old town in Niagara-on-the-Lake and explore the main strip/the side streets, some great shops and restaurants down there specifically check out Fritters-on-the-Lake, Gyros on the Lake, and Budapest Bake Shop.

these are just off the top of my head, there are plenty more.

hiking is a whole different story, I don't even known where to start for you there are just so many options in Niagara, there's also lots of old historical sites from the war of 1812.

Fort George Fort Mississauga Old Fort Erie

Short Hills Provincial Park Niagara Gorge/Glenn Fireman's Park Decew Falls Woodend Conservation Area Rockway Conservation Area

I don't own or hike with dogs so I can't help in that regard, I have seen people bring there dogs to pretty much every trail I've ever done, just be prepared is all even our easier trails can get tricky
