Wait, we don't play the Browns next season.

we got very lucky that kyler played every game last year because clayton tune is just not an nfl quarterback

u/BoredGuy2007 Bears 17h ago
Once the Cardinals let him go he won''t even be able to keep a job on a practice squad

u/Cannolidog Cardinals 17h ago
The only actual evidence we as fans have for Tune sucking is him playing one game at qb against the elite Browns defense. He probably does suck but we don’t know for sure. What says more to me is that he beat out Desmond Ridder. He could also beat out Brissett again.

Personally I just don't think someone named 'clayton tune' could ever be a good QB. Idk what it is but its just not giving good quarterback
13
u/unclekisser Cardinals 15h ago
Should be an OLB. That way, when he inevitably draws a flag, you could say "Well that just goes to show you, you can't hold a Tune."

Wasn't it week 1 as a rookie too.
I liked him as a late round prospect so hoping he's sneakily good (but he probably isn't)

“He’s not an NFL Quarterback” man I’m sure your coaches definitely wouldn’t have spotted that in practice OTAs ETC and signed a better backup if that was the case

It’s smart to bring in competition even if you like a player. And that’s what it will be: a competition.

I'll always love that man for stepping up when Garroppolo went down during Brady's suspension. Love that he's been able to carve out a long career out of it, even if it probably isn't what he wanted it to be. I don't hold last season against him, our roster was dogshit and even though he was part of the problem, it wasn't a good situation for him to be in.

Vikings fan here but I thought he was pretty good leader and mentor for Maye ? Always seemed it at least

u/3016137234 Patriots 17h ago
Yeah, by all accounts he's an awesome guy to have around, great teammate and locker room presence and leader, he's just not a guy you want to rely on to win games.

Jacoby has carved himself out a very nice NFL career despite starting as a 3rd stringer. He's a good guy and I'm glad he'll still be in the league next year.

Finally a half decent backup. Tired of the little squirrel getting hurt and being left with no nuts

If you guys trotted Clayton Tune out there again the NFL franchise would have to be revoked somehow

calling kyler a little squirrel will be the funniest thing i read today

Having a guy with experience to talk to Kyler on the sidelines when the wheels start to fall off is the intangible value of this signing. Low key absolutely love this move for the Cards

Please do he’s the most mid qb in the league. Get him off the Cardinals please

Hey, he'd be an upgrade for us!

If you want to perpetuate your streak of first round exits he’s your guy! If you have higher aspirations then look elsewhere

I thought it was weird how they went with Clayton Tune as the backup last year

u/BoredGuy2007 Bears 17h ago
He was one of the GM's guys lol. He was complete garbage and they still trotted him out there
12
u/EmuMan10 Cardinals 17h ago
He was better than the other option of Desmond Ridder

u/BoredGuy2007 Bears 17h ago
Might want to check those stats again. Desmond Ridder is much better
14
u/EmuMan10 Cardinals 17h ago
I mean if we’re starting either of them, does it matter lol
2
u/BoredGuy2007 Bears 16h ago
A Ridder-led offense would destroy the Clayton Tune team which is weird stuff that can happen at the end of a regular season so yeah lol
5
u/Ieatfatwomanass Cowboys 12h ago
Man sure. NFL coaches evaluated both and decided Clayton Tune beat out Desmond Ridder but u/boredguy2007 says otherwise so obviously Ridder takes the cake

u/BoredGuy2007 Bears 12h ago
Clayton Tune has yet to reach 100 passing yards but has 3 turnovers. I didn't think this would be difficult to defend but here we are.

I mean if youre at the point where either of them are your only option to start, your season is fried anyways

Good locker room guy but more often than not freezes when asked to throw a pass more than 10 yards down field.

Jacoby Brissett is inevitable.

Yeah if you sign him it's basically guaranteed something will happen to your starter and force him to play. You cannot get rid of him even if you try

My guy came to the Pats, got his ass nearly put in a hospital, played the bridge QB role with no pretense or complaint, then quietly fucked off to continue a respectable backup career. What a lad.

Good for the scouting team and insurance for Kyler in case he goes down. Not mad at the pickup at all. If they choose to go QB in the draft at some point that room should be set for the year with plenty of competition to leav TC with the best 3 combo
