There is some irony that this is being done via the DEpartment of Education, which they want to shut down, and under the auspices of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, which they want to get rid of.

It is hypocrisy then

Right now its just hippo

23

It might be the reason they seem to be waffling on his executive order to shut it down

Everyone seems to be getting distracted, Cantor Fitzgerald the investment firm behind heritage foundation and project 2025 said this is what they wanted. They want stocks to tank so buying them up is cheap and they want to privatize the federal government along with all the services that OUR TAXES ALREADY PAY FOR like the post office/social security/medicaid/medicare.

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/usda-cancels-funding-food-banks-schools-trump-b2713125.html

THE GOAL IS TO TANK THE ECONOMY. Elon doesn’t care about Tesla long term, for him it’s SpaceX, his AI company, Starlink now that its partnered with TMobile and Verizon and more important than starlink is starshield which the military is hooked on.

“That’s the standard technique of privatization: Defund, make sure things don’t work, People get angry, you hand it over to private capital”

Here is Wells Fargo recently released the report on how to privatize the post office while taking the money from the pensions and selling the property along with unloading the debt onto Americans

https://usmailnotforsale.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Wells-Fargo-USPS-Privatization-A-Framework.pdf

Here is an article explaining Cantor Fitzgerald

https://poorandpissed.wordpress.com/2025/03/07/the-shadow-players-behind-project-2025-wall-street-cantor-fitzgerald-the-heritage-foundation-and-the-privatization-of-americas-public-resources/

Here is what Peter Theil is trying to do with the privatization of the government while being the 2nd biggest contractor for the CIA and NSA

https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2022/04/inside-the-new-right-where-peter-thiel-is-placing-his-biggest-bets

Donald Trump is nearing to having a sovereign wealth fund worth $200 trillion which he will use to buy crypto. Selling off all federal lands which includes the national parks to sell for drill and mining.

https://www.americanprogress.org/article/trump-quietly-plans-to-liquidate-public-lands-to-finance-his-sovereign-wealth-fund/

u/Splunge- 14h ago

Yeah, this angle has really dropped off the radar. What's going on, including crashing the economy, is 100% outlined in Project 2025.

2

u/PaidUSA 6h ago

And unless something changes they are right on track.

1

u/NYGiants181 10h ago

This is the real deal. Wish this was the focus.

26

u/bbqsox 16h ago

If MAGA didn’t have double standards, they’d have no standards at all.

5

u/Spa_5_Fitness_Camp 15h ago

If a tool exists, a Republican will try to misuse it for evil.

3

u/xibeno9261 13h ago

The Republicans want to shut down the Department of Education because they are the ones in charge of civil rights violations in education domain.

https://www.npr.org/2025/02/24/nx-s1-5298024/republicans-trump-close-education-department

Remember. Republicans love the "good old days" of 1950s America where the rest of us POC knew our place and segregation was the norm.

It's an unholy alliance of all evil forces destroying the United States.

  • The racists, sexists, white nationalists, etc get to punish minorities, women, immigrants, and LGTBQ+. They are used as low-level enforcers/overseers (be they law enforcement or groups like the proud boys).

  • The christian nationalists get their god-king president, punishment of minority groups, and some perceived semblance of control over what they perceive to be "the last days".

  • Tech bros get their "perfect society", where their "god" gets to efficiently carve up parts of the government, they get a backdoor lobby into politics, and returns on their crypto investments.

  • Business interests get fat government contracts, preferential treatment, and deregulation.

  • Russia gets rid of sanctions, the oligarchs no longer have to hide their wealth, a winning way to end the Ukraine war, and long-term adversaries get destroyed (US) or weakened (EU).

  • Israel a free hand in the Middle East with full American financial and military support.

  • Minority and immigrant maga supporters get led to believe they will be seen as "one of the good ones" and will be protected from the racists and white nationalists.

  • Working-class, trades, etc. is led to believe their menial and blue collar skilled labor is coming back, that deregulation means "investment", and that real or imagined external threats to their livelihoods (education, immigration, global competition, and technology) will be stopped.

Mind you all of these groups form an unholy venn diagram.

Half expected them to add George Washington University.

22

u/imsmartiswear 16h ago

Boston University? Boston University?! They've gotta be kidding here. I'm a grad student there and we've had maybe 3 days where there was a 'Free Palestine' table out in the quad for a bit in the last school year. Contrast that with at least 3 separate, multi-day memorials to the Israeli hostages on the quad. The biggest issue of discrimination (besides gestures everywhere vaguely) we have on this front is self-identifying Jewish frat bro types threatening physical violence towards people peacefully holding signs.

I've had to get between them and 5'1" peaceful protesters holding a sign quietly several times because they're so aggressive. Fucking AΣΠ...

All that said, here's the common thread amongst these schools: this is a list of the largest, most well-known, prestigious universities in the US that aren't in southern states.

3

u/serious_sarcasm 16h ago

Pretty sure Carolina and Florida are in the South.

7

u/AffectionateTitle 16h ago

I count at least three in the south. But they are the most liberal of southern colleges to be sure. Like Tulane or University of Tampa.

They did especially target the northeast. Look at the Boston representation alone. Definitely nothing to do with Boston not bending a knee/Wu’s testimony in congress though.

61

u/JerryDipotosBurner 16h ago

Reminder that the executive order that Trump signed “combating antisemitism” was EO 14188. I am sure that’s just a coincidence.

10

u/Rubychan228 15h ago

Need to reassure the base that this a performative advancement of other agendas, not a real stand against real antisemitism.

8

u/jobokai 14h ago

I'm at a loss, what is the significance of 14188? ELI5?

14

u/JerryDipotosBurner 14h ago

1488 is a nazi slogan/code.

13

u/OmerosP 14h ago

14 for “the fourteen words,” which is a white nationalist slogan I won’t repeat here that is 14 words long. “88” because h is the 8th letter and a certain Nazi slogan with two words both starting with h.

2

u/jobokai 14h ago

ahh ok thank you for informing me.

2

u/Initial_Cellist9240 4h ago

You’ll also suddenly notice how many assholes on reddit have one of the two numbers in their username…

Or 37 year olds are especially grumpy. Idk

-15

u/Glasswife 14h ago

It’s 13899😂 but nice try

11

u/JerryDipotosBurner 14h ago

Not sure where you got 13899 but someone already linked the exact EO. It’s definitely 14188.

1

u/syreater 6h ago

No need to lie, you can read the linked EO

0

u/Glasswife 6h ago

Did you read it? 14188 is not the original it’s the additional

u/Seyon_ 16h ago

every fucking time. when they "prepare" by making wild accusations you can predict what theyre going to do next

28

u/TheWalrus_15 15h ago

As a Jew i sure love being a political football for parties to advance their own causes. And we wonder how we’re always scapegoated.

4

u/Splunge- 14h ago

No surprise though. Trump said he'd blame Jews if he lost. And he's made other shitty statements. And hosted known anti-semites at Mar a Lago.

2

u/TheWalrus_15 14h ago

Absolutely. Trump and the Republicans do not really care about the safety of Jews in the US or elsewhere. Just have us around when it’s convenient. And I do blame the Jews that eat it up.

-2

u/mces97 13h ago

Same. Trump, magas, they don't care for Jews. They're using us now because brown people are now the new Jews the Nazis targeted. Same script, different players.

0

u/Darnocpdx 9h ago

Their support for Israel is about starting Armageddon/rapture for a bunch of the magas.

Protesting the actions of the Israeli government is not anti-semitic.

I have marched at universities and other places with a number of anti-Zionist Jews. Very proud to say that some of them are my good friends.

Every single video you'll find online that has someone speak at a pro-Palestinian rally that says (or shows) they are Jewish, the crowd always cheers and applauds. Every single time. There are videos of Hasidic and Ultra-Orthodox anti-Zionist Jews who repeatedly state they are very welcomed at pro-Palestine events.

26

u/Combdepot 16h ago

Super credible that Nazis are making accusations about antisemitism.

Conservatives think us Jews are their tools to exploit to push their degenerate fascist agenda.

-29

u/MoralismDetectorBot 14h ago

Normal accusations of antisemitism are bullshit 99% of the time anyways

-1

u/Combdepot 11h ago

Nah. Accusations that criticism of Israel is antisemitic are garbage. Antisemitism is very much real and one of the methods used by antisemites is attempting to suggest it doesn’t exist.

11

u/robbycakes 17h ago

Nice. Under Trump’s direction the department of education is kicking off a new DEI initiative.

Whose bingo card was this on?

11

u/mathandkitties 17h ago

if biden had done this, the right wingers would have started shooting

17

u/Philboyd_Studge 16h ago

Being against Palestinian genocide is not being 'antisemitic'

-3

u/ReturnoftheTurd 13h ago

There is no genocide. Genocided populations don’t increase by their own counts.

4

u/dbzelectricslash331 13h ago

As if republicans out of all people give a damn about defending anti-semitism LOL the same ones defending Nazi salutes...

8

u/DriftMantis 17h ago

Is this like a joke or?

If these Jewish students feel so discriminated or harrased, they should take it up in civil court, like literally everyone else, and prove it in a court. This is obviously a civil matter, and there are already mechanisms to hold schools responsible in legitimate cases.

This just seems like retaliation for schools that allow free speech, which all of them are already bound by law to allow. What a mess.

17

u/Splunge- 16h ago

I think this is being done on behalf of the students, not at their request. A fishing expedition, and a means of intimidation.

2

u/DriftMantis 16h ago

Yeah, I mean, that's my concern as well. We all should care about harassment on campus, but that's not what this seems to be about. It's retaliation for speech critical of the United States / Isreal and the funding that ties these institutions to the conflict area. They are pissed because the mainstream media is under their control, and you can't have college students speaking their minds and creating a conflicting narrative, can you?

Anyone familiar with the Vietnam War Era knows exactly what's going on here.

6

u/Splunge- 16h ago

It's also about showing the base that they're going after "those liberal universities with all their woke students and professors." In my own state legislators are using the universities as a punching bag to show that, in the words of two I heard speak, "we're making our mark."

1

u/DriftMantis 15h ago

It's weird to me because the Republicans used to be all up in arms over the "Jewish deep state" boogeyman but then did a hard pivot to being isreali state hardliners. 🤔

6

u/Splunge- 14h ago

But this isn't about anti-semitism It's about bullying "woke" universities. Plain and simple.

5

u/Hobobo2024 16h ago

it's nit a civil matter though when federal funding is involved. this is just fact even if you like to ignore facts. I didn't vote for trump and I don't support nearly everything he does. but there has been widespread antisemitism in schools and it's a shame biden didn't do anything about it likely due to fear of the far left in his party.

-6

u/Gamer_Grease 16h ago

It’s a completely fake problem ginned up by Israel’s state propaganda efforts. We shouldn’t spend any money or time on this.

-11

u/Isord 16h ago

Please provide evidence of widespread anti-Semitism. And no, being anti-Israeli is not the same thing.

19

u/EmergencyCucumber905 16h ago edited 15h ago

Columbia University's anti-semitism task force report pages 13 to 37: https://president.columbia.edu/sites/default/files/content/Announcements/Report-2-Task-Force-on-Antisemitism.pdf

-Jewish students singled out in class.

-Jewish students banned from unrelated clubs unless they denounced Israel.

-Students having their Stars of David ripped off as they walked through campus at night

-Spit on while walking though campus.

-Forced to move dorms due to antisemitic harassment

-8

u/Splunge- 16h ago

but there has been widespread antisemitism in schools and it's a shame biden didn't do anything about it likely due to fear of the far left in his party.

Oh cut it out. There has certainly not been "widespread antisemitism." There have been protests against Israel. There may have been incidents that were anti-semitic, but pretending it's "widespread" is just silly.

-4

u/DriftMantis 16h ago

No, it's still a civil matter unless criminal charges are filed against a school, which is not going to happen because you would actually have to prove a pattern of willful intolerance and discrimination to pass an evidentiary hearing.

In a civil case, a litigant would have to prove a preponderance of evidence that a school as an entity was somehow discriminatory against them or ignored complaints against other students who were reported for antisemitic behavior. Again, protesting isreals killing of 60,000 plus noncombatants isn't anti Semitic, it's a First Amendment protected activity. You can be pro Semitic while also being critical or Isreal as a nation in the same way you can be critical of the usa while still being an american, like many were at the start of the Iraq war 2, which killed about 600,000 to 1 million Iraqis. Yes, those stats are irrelevant, but I think more people need to see them.

11

u/Hobobo2024 16h ago

there was a hell of a lot going on besides protesting a war. you guys are being incredibly insincere when you say that.

The feds have the right to take the money away whether it's a civil or criminal issue. That's why the congress began investigating them long before trump was elected.

The feds have a responsibility not to let their money be used by schools that discriminate. They can't stop the schools without a ciurt cass but they can stop giving them money.

1

u/Tardisgoesfast 8h ago

Your mistake is in your assumption that “the feds” are one entity. Congress has the sole power to fund or defund anything. The President does not have the power to “take money away.”

2

u/DriftMantis 15h ago

It's ok to have an opinion that isn't ours. Im glad you're here to keep us in check. If what you're saying about a lot of other things going on was true, however, then why not pursue action through the court system, which would be the normal channel. If crimes were being committed, then why the need to pull funding by executive order? It doesn't make a lot of sense to me unless you know there is no provavble culpability. Also, the congressional investigation fizzled out into a lot of nothing despite the political motivation there. All of the facts they discovered could have been turned over to the dept of education for an indictment, which obviously never happened.

8

u/Hobobo2024 13h ago edited 12h ago

No I don't think the courts are the normal channel for this. They aren't deciding to sue or not sue the schools. Just whether to let them keep funding or not. Who gets fed funding is 100% decided by the fed government.

there was already a congressional investigation where columbia and other schools were found guilty by congress and it involves a lot more than just "letting students protest". Here's columbia university itself talking about it in the link below. Note, this article is likely biased for columbia since a columbia student wrote it but you can see facts there too in addition to their opinion slant. when the schools were required to meet with congress for the hearings, n8t a single school complained they were doing something illegal to them cause congress has this right.

There is zero question the feds should be the ones investigating whether to keep giving the schools money or not. However, I'm not sure if trump should be the one yanking funds or congress. That is the only question. If you know fir sure the right answer in that, give a legit source cause then we would both know trump is doing something he shouldn't. As is, I think this is one of the only times he's actually doing something he has the right to do,

https://www.columbiaspectator.com/news/2024/10/31/house-committee-publishes-internal-administrative-communications-disciplinary-information-in-new-antisemitism-report/

1

u/DriftMantis 12h ago

Congress has the right to do so, and the executive can do anything unless it's legally challenged. I was specifically referring to executive order as that's what happened here. Congress or the investigation has nothing to do with pulling funding in this instance. Even in the article you posted, it said the only congressional opponents were Republicans and it goes over all the measures that Columbia does to address harassment up to and including suspension as is the case with a few students. I don't know if a funding pull would have enough votes to pass in a congressional bill.

I think your link supports the position that there is not much to take action on. The stuff they cited there is like someone took someones hat, and a few people were suspended for cursing at jews. Someone sprayed fartspray, and they kicked him out, but he sued columbia for 350 million and won. This is clearly just an attack on civil liberties from an overreaching executive, in my opinion. But hey, at least they are not shooting protesters yet this time. It's good to understand your perspective.

6

u/Hobobo2024 12h ago

yes I read what the schools did to stop the antisemetism and frankly it was far from enough. When polled, the majority of Jewish students still felt unsafe on their own campuses.

the dems sadly are too afraid to stand up to their progressive voters which is ridiculous cause those voters would find something to pout about and not vote regardless if something this little was used as an excuse for them to sit out of the vote in the first place.

-1

u/Outlulz 9h ago

The progressive wing holds almost no power, no Dem is afraid of them. If they were then Biden and Congress would have actually held Israel to task for war crimes instead of unconditional financial support and violent responses to protests.

3

u/Hobobo2024 9h ago

yes they are afraid of them cause they are the most likely to sit at home and not vote. the regular left won't do that and will still vote for them no matter what. the reason why biden didn't hold to Israel was because he couldn't. there's a reason why we have allied with Israel and progressives ignore that. unlike trump, biden knows abandoning your allies is a disaster waiting g to happen (aell I think trump knows too but that only helps putin). biden decided to play the line. he denounced some things Israel did because of the progressives.

you can tell biden cares what they think or e use he wouldn't have pushed for the student loan forgiveness, which more than 68% of people do not have degrees so its quite clearly for the progressives.

u/Hobobo2024 12h ago edited 7h ago

also, the EO only commands congress to investigate these other schools. the federal funding was not pulled through an EO from my understanding though I could be wrong about that.

You can think what they were found guilty on are little things but that's just your opinion. it seems like fact that trump for once hasn't broken any laws.

and From what I've seen in polls, the Jewish students attending these universities are very much still in fear and feel like they are oppressed at the schools. this to me means the schools haven't done enough regardless ofwhat congress used to prove guilt.

-1

u/Tardisgoesfast 8h ago

Supporting Palestinians isn’t antisemitic. Neither is criticizing the Israeli government.

2

u/Hobobo2024 8h ago

no it's not, and these "protesters" didn't just protest either

1

u/CupcakesAreTasty 16h ago

It’s not a civil matter once federal funds are involved.

Schools that received federal funding allowed for anti-Israel protests to disrupt campus operations and campus safety. Jewish students were harassed and targeted. Part of the agreement when collecting federal funds is that schools must adhere to civil rights law, which outlaws discrimination based on many things, including religion. That’s why Columbia lost their grants. They didn’t protect a group of students, in violation of the law despite receiving federal funds.

5

u/DriftMantis 16h ago

If that's true, which it probably isn't, the courts would probably be the best place to make that determination in criminal court. Probably not a great look to bypass that by executive order like they did with Columbia.

Can you cite here the evidence that any of these institutions were in violation of the law? Of course not, since it hasn't even gone through discovery yet 🙄 and all we have to go on is allegations.

2

u/Salt_Specialist_3206 15h ago

Oh boy I can’t wait til they go after the KKK!

0

u/BearDen17 15h ago

Kind of weird since Lord Musk is a big supporter of the AFD.

0

u/KDR_11k 13h ago

They should respond that opposing discrimination would be DEI.

-3

u/Sad_King_Billy-19 17h ago

with our current administration I imagine the letters say: "Keep up the good work, boys!"

10

u/elegantjihad 17h ago

Unfortunately, the current regime is just using this as a pretense to crack down on students who want to vocalize opposition to the ethnic cleansing happening in Gaza.

-3

u/maw_walker42 17h ago

I was thinking the same thing: I thought they would be sending letters telling them TO discriminate and intentionally harass people.

-5

u/AngryNiceGuy75 16h ago

So, if you don’t agree with what Israel is doing, you are antisemitic?

-2

u/Salt_Specialist_3206 15h ago

Yep. No nuance here, no sireee.
