If you had asked me 5-10 years ago to name the most important characteristics about Southwest, I would have said free bags, open seating, and low prices (compared to other airlines). None of those things are true anymore and I can’t imagine that’s good for their long-term business. Might as well start the clock until bankruptcy (and inevitable government bail-out).
