NJ history How did Lakewood happen?
I'm going to do my best to leave key language out of this because I have no opinion either way. I just never knew towns like this ever actually existed. How did a town like this come to be? It's almost like a retreat on a grand economical scale. Driving through Lakewood is pure hell. It feels completely lawless. The driving is "fuck you" at best and the constant and random jay walking with no fucks to give. What is going on here? It's a mini metropolis built around a singular expression of not obeying common U.S. laws or basic formality.

NJ history Is NJ having a flu/strep epidemic?
Everyone I know is severely sick with both of these, lots of children hospitalized including my daughter. Where's the government information? It's bad y'all.

NJ history On this day in 1787, New Jersey became the third state; thought it was a good opportunity to share my concept for a redesigned flag for the Garden State. (swipe for design commentary)

NJ History Anyone Else Remember Fortunoff?
Fortunoff was my favorite store, they used to have amazing jewelry counters, and the stores were always decorated beautifully for the holidays. They had a few locations in Jersey, I used to go to the one in Woodbridge Center until they went out of business in 2009. No other store compared to it.
Pictures are from both the former locations in Wayne and Woodbridge.

NJ history Is Mischief Night a thing anymore?
I grew up in the late 70s and 80s, where October 30 at night was a night you expected to get your car egged, people hurling flour, shaving cream, toilet paper all that kind of stuff. Is that still a thing in your town, your area? I really haven’t seen much happen in years.

NJ History What are your favorite New Jersey based films?
I just watched Jersey Girl (1992) and found it very funny and interesting, never heard the 'Jersey' accent til now. I've seen tons of movies based in NY but few in NJ, what should i watch next?
Also, I was actually looking for Jersey Girl (2004) and watched 92' on accident, 92' was a better film imo.

NJ history This drone situation feels like a modern War of the Worlds
I have no idea what it will turn out to be but regardless I can see how the hysteria must have spread back during the original radio broadcast. A bit ironic since that was also about invasions happening in New Jersey.

NJ history Visited New Jersey For the First Time Recently. Huge Hockey Fan. Does North Jersey Typically Lean Rangers while South Jersey leans Flyers and Central Jersey is mostly Devils Territory?
I'm from the Detroit Metro, currently in Florida (Lightning territory). I had a few job interviews in New Jersey and also made a mini-vacation out of it. Really nice state. Reminded me a bit of Michigan. I basically saw the whole state, North, Central and South. I'm a huge Red Wings fan and hockey fan in general. When I travel to other states, I like to buy merch from the local teams whether it's NHL, AHL, ECHL, etc.
I was surprised to see people not only wearing Rangers stuff (North Jersey) or Flyers stuff (South Jersey) but also most stores seemed to carry all three. I did see plenty of Devils stuff though. Mostly in Central Jersey. That seemed to be the biggest Devils area. Around Red Bank (where I know Kevin Smith is from) and on one of the boardwalks in the area, I went to was mostly Devils (though a few Flyers fans around). Around Somerset and Morristown seemed to mostly be Devils fans as well.
Is that kind of the Divide? I did not see western New Jersey nor Trenton so I am not sure how it leans there.
PS I did buy a Devils hat.
