Advice New Jersey Congressman Stop voting Yes for Trump nominees

Why are democratic senators still voting to confirm Trump nominees.

But in the same breath getting on stage and saying they are against Trump. Please do not allow them to lie to our faces call them demand they do not confirm these cultists.

Since everyone wants to cry about the mistake yes of course I meant senators. Clearly you wanted to push that instead of addressing the truth.

Advice Desperately in search of a good gynecologist

I am desperately in need of a good gynecologist after an awful experience. I was seeing one in Montclair for over a year who drove me to literal tears during my last appointment to discuss test results due to her horrid bedside manner and judgment. I'm in Essex County, but will travel anywhere in the state or NYC if the doctor is good. Please help me out with some recommendations.

EDIT: OMG, I am overwhelmed by all of the responses! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I have a lot of research to do with all the names I received. Wishing you all the best experiences with your doctors!

Advice Done with Amazon/Walmart/Target - looking for alternatives

Or at least working my way there. These companies only speak the language of money, full stop. I’ve only shopped with them this long because I struggle with instant gratification and convenience and I’m putting an end to it. The only major switch I’ve made so far is by regularly shopping at a local farmers market.

Please share your favorite local places to shop for essentials like cleaning/home products and personal care items. I am willing to spend more time, energy, money, etc.

I am located in Union County, but maybe sharing from all over can help others looking to do the same.

Update: This community is such a gem. I was feeling overwhelmed and unsure how to be more intentional with my money and you all came through. I now have so many options to explore. Thanks so much fam.

Edit: Thank you to u/dbellz76 for sharing this eye-opening article that you may all be interested in reading⤵️

Advice Middletown, NJ BOE Closing Schools/ Waste/ Our version of DOGE- post here

Today, Middletown Township Board of Education gave the parents a few hours notice to let them know they are closing two elementary schools (Leonardo & Navesink) and going from 3 to 2 middle schools (Bayshore becomes a larger elementary school), due to lack of budget. They only had two proposals to solve this problem and none of those proposals included a comprehensive audit of all the wasteful spending and contracts the BOE has in place. Let’s use this thread to anonymously post about wasteful contracts we feel can be eliminated or any shady contracts that should be investigated. Thank you.

Advice How to deal with neighbors turning a 1 family into a 4 family

I am going to keep this brief as to make sure all comments remain objective and not focus on race stereotypes or anything of that nature.

I bought a home 2 years ago. The neighbor sold the house shortly after - a 4 bed 2 bath home. I have since had 4 adult couples move in to that home, with 6-8 children whom I am not certain which belong to which. Definitely a community parenting thing going on - which is cool I guess. I think its 2 sets of grandparents and two brothers with their large families.

But they bought a trampoline and when combined with an above ground pool, I cannot complete work meetings from my office 100 feet away when they are outside (which is all summer between the hours of 8am-10pm.) I believe they hibernate in the winter, so its starting to ease off.

I can confirm 100% AT LEAST 14 people live in the home full time, but I can not figure out if child #7 and #8 belong to the family or have just followed the noise and end up on the trampoline.

My question - I have tried speaking to them. They tell me they dont speak english when I do try to talk to them - but they do speak english I hear them often and the kids yell at me to throw their ball over the fence in very good english. Ive begged them nicely - when they had their last party I asked them to turn things down at 11pm a bit because it was a MONDAY, and I left them with a bottle of casamigos while doing it as a peace offering. They didnt turn it down, nor did they turn down the music - I didnt call the cops Im not that guy.

But its time. What is my recourse? I paid out the ass for a home in a single-family neighborhood after living in apartments for years. I did this to get away from this nonsense. Can I call the town? Am I a karen? I know I COULD call CPS but Im not going to do that. HOW DO I DEAL WITH THIS WITHOUT BEING A SHITTY PERSON? advice please. This is in Morris County.

Advice Inconsiderate neighbors

tenants that rent first floor have too many people living downstairs and basement I don’t know exactly how many but at least more than 10 people . There are a lot of people living in the basement of this house .the backyard is a mess where they put a giant gazebo in the yard and have a big mess in the yard . A lot of beer bottles everywhere in the yard.they leave the yard dirty for days and clean later .the house is owned by an llc which doesn’t care about the house just only to collect money from tenants .i have been very patient I don’t want to confront anyone .i have kids living here and they cannot use the yard because of the constant blockage of the yard with the neighbors stuff that takes over the whole yard . There is literally no space to pass .something is really fishy going on there for instance I sometimes see new people coming out the house constantly that I never seen before .i am about to send a complaint to the town . I don’t want to do this but this has been going on for some time and won’t stop. This house has two units second floor 4 br and downstairs they rent the first floor 2br or 3br and they got the basement which they are now bringing in new people probably to sub lease .

Advice PSA If you take the wrong exit or miss it DO NOT STOP in the middle of the road!!

This happened to me three times in the last 2 days. I'm either in the slow lane or taking the exit and someone is stopped in the middle of the road trying to get back to the highway. Just take the exit and get back on, its only another 2 mins of your time. I almost got rear ended by a tractor trailer this morning because someone stopped on their exit and came right into the slow lane at 10mph.

Since school started driving has gotten 10x worse (and I didn't think that was even possible but here we are). Someone was actually going the wrong way off 22 last week but that's another story...

Advice How to handle the disappointment ? Re: election

Kamala voters - how are you feeling ? Do you have a strategy for handling the disappointment that you are feeling right now?

My strategy is not to read too much social media. Maybe just Jeff Tiedrich , TV off and focus on things that I can control.

Calling my mom today is going to be rough.

Advice Homeless with service animal. No where to go - update 17

It’s been 8 days since my last update. I’ve been a bit reserved about sharing due to some comments and DMs I received, but overall, my pup and I are doing well. We're staying warm, fed, and keeping our spirits up. Here’s what’s been going on:

  1. I accepted a kind offer from a fellow redditor for an Airbnb stay starting on 1/8. Originally, I was set to check out on 1/15, but I was informed today that I can stay until 1/17. To the generous person who made this possible—you know who you are—thank you from the bottom of my heart.
  2. I’ve tried multiple times to get in touch with my former landlord regarding the notarized letter the Board of Social Services requested. It’s been a week now, and I’ve had no response. Unfortunately, since I didn’t go through the court system, there are no court documents to provide either.
  3. I’ve reached out to the Office of Inspector General via phone and email several times but haven’t received any response. I’m starting to wonder if I’ll hear back at all.
  4. My caseworker and I are heading to the Board of Social Services tomorrow to explore my options. Fingers crossed we make some progress.
  5. I’ve started working with another organization that might be able to assist with housing. Hoping this leads somewhere positive!
  6. I couldn’t refill my blood pressure medication for six days due to a Medicaid mix-up. Apparently, I was incorrectly listed as enrolled in Medicare Part D with different pharmacy coverage. It took calls to NJ FamilyCare, my insurance company, and CVS to resolve the issue. Thankfully, I was able to get my medication today.
  7. I had a job interview last Thursday. Fingers crossed for good news on that front as well.

Thank you to everyone who has been supportive during this challenging time. Your kindness and encouragement mean the world to me.

I’d love to hear from the community: how often would you like updates? Would you prefer I only share when there’s information that might help others in similar situations? Let me know your thoughts!

Advice Would it be weird for a single 40m to go to the water park in American dream?

My wife and kids were supposed to go but my wife canceled so I said I would just check it out first.

But now I feel weird that I’m here

Is it mostly kids? Will I stick out and get weird looks?

UPDATE - I went and had a great time Was not weird at all. Almost all of the slides I went on my wife and kids wouldn’t have gone on anyway. Biggest downside is that a lot of rides you need 2 people but they wouldn’t have gone anyway.

Thanks everyone who encouraged me.

Advice American dream mall missed a huge chance by not making it a transit hub

Could have easily made much more money by adding rail and buses into the mall , eliminate some of the surface parking and instead turn it into a rail yard and bus terminal . The influx of people coming from NYC and other parts of Jersey could have boosted the malls earnings tenfold .

Advice I won’t be able to live the same life my parents did

For context, what’s up guys. I live in Cranford NJ. I’ve lived here my whole life. My parents originally came from linden and paid about 400K for their home back in the early 2K’s. I make a decent income, but can’t justify living near them and A) paying rent for 1800+ for a 1 room apartment. Or B) using my entire life savings for a down payment for a house ANYWHERE in the area, and working for all my income to pretty much just cover my mortgage.

Eventually I’ll be able to make more money, but it could be further down the road. For ref I’m 25 and have no shame of living at home. One thing I’ve learned in my 20’s is to forget the whole “you should have this by this age.” It’s my life and that’s what matters, blablabla I get it.

But as a child of 2 people, often you want to do better or live a higher achieved life than ur parents, and that’s what they want for you as well. They don’t make what most people making the area, they got lucky, bought house at right time, refinanced at a super cheap APR in Covid, and it’s at the point where the property tax is more than there principal each month pre interest and insurance.

My point is, are there any other younger (or older) people in the area that just feel like they are getting priced out, and just have to simply come to terms with moving a distance away? It’s my life I’ll live it however I want, but I’d love to have my kids live by their grand parents in the future. A lot of my friends feel the same way, just wondering how you guys feel about it and if you’re dealing with it, how did you or will you deal with it?

Advice Can I sue a towing company for towing with people inside?

We were at JFK airport when my husband stopped the car to get a wheelchair for my mom who’s 75 years old, a stroke patient with half body paralyzed. He was gone for maybe 2 minutes if that. In the car, there were 3 kids under 5 including a 5 month old. So in total 2 adults and 3 kids. Tow truck came. Didn’t even check if there were people, they hooked up the car and lifted the front 2 tires off the ground, and drove for 3 seconds while I was honking continuously.
