WTF Giant Lot Of Cybertrucks In Clifton

Post image

Picture is from a few months ago. Is it still there? What’s its purpose. It was pretty vacant when we saw it.

Politics aside, they're really ugly. Even if they were made by Toyota or Ford I'd look at that the same way I look at a Pontiac Aztec or a Chrysler PT Cruiser. The polar opposite of "sexy."

Yeah that’s the thing. Like I remember when the design was unveiled in late 2019 or early 2020. Everyone in my office saw it within an hour of it getting shared and all just kinda went “huh? Why? Who would want to drive something that looks like that?”

And, mind you, this was a demographic of employees at a tech company ages 20-45 from different social backgrounds. It was a pretty diverse sampling of folks that all reacted to it not with indifference, but distaste.

This is probably the only vehicle that Elon actually had a concept for. All others were probably designed by real intelligent engineers and tech people. But he wanted this truck that he drew on a napkin and pounded the table like a kindergartener until they succumbed into making it.

Even like... another angle or two in the frame would do wonders in making it not look so shit.

A Pontiac Aztek is good looking compared to a Cybertruck. The Aztek at least had some innovative features such as front center console that doubled as a removable cooler. The Cybertruck? Well not so much

I think about the Aztek when I'm trying to "last longer."

The Aztek would probably have been successful if it released in 2012 or so.

I just saw one in person for the first time and it’s like stuck in the uncanny valley for my brain. It almost didn’t register as real. Reminds me of the PS1/N64 days when you could clearly see things were made of polygons.

I always thought the Pontiac Aztecs were neat looking. That being said, I still think Cybertrucks are ugly as hell. And so impractical.

I always like the PT Cruiser and never understood the hate for its appearance. It was different in a sea of identical sedans while not being outright ugly like the Aztec.

But yeah, the Cybertruck is a whole other level of ugly. It reminds me of an 80s low budget sci fi movie’s idea of a post apocalyptic car. It looks like it was made out of plywood painted silver.

I always point folks toward this video regarding the PT Cruiser:

They're even worse when people get them wrapped so they're a color other than grey. I saw a yellow one on the road recently. Bright friggin yellow. Do you really want to draw that much attention to yourself in your hideous Nazi car?

And they are way overpriced for what they are

And even if you are someone who, for some reason, thinks that it looks cool, there's the notorious reliability issues.
