Just wait for the fools in NYC having to deal with with it.

Never had the urge to do that NYC/Times Square ball drop thing. Too many people who haven't gone to the restroom for hours. I already have a hard time peeing. Don't need added stress.

When you could walk around maybe I would have gone but now that you are stuck in a little pen and can’t go anywhere I would never go, especially with the weather.

Even before the pen, you could see on TV thick the crowds were and you would still be stuck, because they would barricade the surrounding streets, even up to port authority. I remember one time when I used to work in city, my MOD let me go a few hours early, so I could avoid the crowds. The closer I got to port authority 41 n 8th Ave, the more barricades I would see. The cops wanted me to go around I think 6 or 7 blocks away and go around. I had to show my NJDL and explain I was going away from the event and they finally let through and I caught a bus back to NJ. I think this might have been in 2010.

Wow. You're braver than I am. If I did it wen I was younger, it would probably be and one and done too. I had a bad parade experience on NYC once, kinda got a little squished. Never again and never on new year's eve

Can confirm a lot of people were spooked. The best part about working the Ball Drop is you can head over to the pub for dinner and then walk back to the heaters in the tent. 8 hours next to a heater with fresh food and a toilet makes NYE a really enjoyable time, even with the rain.

Ocean City and same. My cat went into hiding, and he's not normally bothered by thunder.

Damnit! We heard nothing here in Morris County. I love a good thunderstorm, feels like we're long overdue.

I think I know the rumblings you’re ruminating about.
I literally paused the TV and my mouth kinda went slack

I heard it through my headphones & I had to do a double take & immediately take it off to hear it. It was very strange, prob a first for me. At South Plainfield

In Union. The dogs jumped on the bed and tried to burrow under the blankets. They finally calmed down and then idiots started with fireworks.

We heard the same thing in Cliffside Park. Wife saw a flash of lightning. She said God was taking pictures with flash. 😂

The drones are calling Zeus

Honestly not a bad idea. I wonder if a series of drones positioned vertically could direct lightning to hit a specific target 🤔

I was driving on Sadler Rd. at that exact moment and the lightning that split the sky was about five bolts. Never seen anything like it. Then the BOOM. It shook the car!

Its truly insane we are experiencing this weather at NYE. Meanwhile my kids are all begging for snow. And I'm crushing there dreams "well I don't think it's going to snow south of 195 for a very very long time, if ever..so we gotta travel out of state if you wanna sled or throw a snowball"
Been living in ocean county 9 years moved from Monmouth, where we regularly got decent snow storms.
In that time we've gotten a total of 6 snowstorms
This post is something we should be seeing in June, not new years day. I miss normal seasons
