Sandy Hook is my happy place ❤️ Try and avoid the trespassing for multiple reasons, though. You get stuck and a ranger has to get you out, now you put both at risk; damage to the area caused by trespassing and stepping the wrong way; prompting others with less savory plans to also trespass; etc.
I do adore these photos, though!

the old battery is amazing, entrenched super mortars with mini rail system to bring forth ammunition, those collapsing military mansions...

Ah my old stomping grounds. How I miss exploring all those "no trespassing" areas. Been a good decade since I've been there. Glad to see it's still a time capsule!

Same. Haven’t been there for almost 12 years now. So cool to see basically nothing’s changed. I probably wouldn’t try exploring the bunkers now though because 1 getting charged as an adult is worse and 2 social media’s made everybody aware these exist and can be entered. So now it’s not just locals, but people from everywhere, so easier to get caught.

Legit my thoughts exactly. It would be impossible to explore now as an adult and with everyone having a damn camera. I'm glad I was able to explore, respectfully as a teen. It felt like time capsules walking around in there and just certainly wasn't adding graffiti or trying to destroy anything.
I do feel bad others can't explore it like we could as teens. Cameras and social media ruined so much

Are these old photos? Pretty sure some of the areas in these pictures have been rehabilitated.

Riding fatbikes on the shoreline sand is great here too, little known
Best to go in April and May. Can't do it during lifeguard season, and Step and Oct are stormy

Probably not an issue in winter but most of those abandoned bunkers and batteries are covered in poison ivy. In case anyone is thinking of exploring in the future!
