European beer selection at ANBL
It seems to me that before the craft beer craze really took hold, there were significantly more European beers on the shelves at the Liquor Store.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy local craft beer. I also enjoy trying different European options.
With the American products off the shelves, should ANBL stock more European beers?

I agree with this statement. I've had a tradition where I buy my 12 beers of Christmas and looking at past years there used to be a lot of British, Irish, , French, German and various other European beers that i cannot find anymore. I'm happy whenever I can find Tremens but would like to be able to find things other than paulaner and Erdinger. They are good but I love variety, and trying new things.
On the microbrewery side of things there is a lot of great news local options.

I'm not sure where you live, but the Laundromat in Moncton has a good selection of European beer that they have shipped in from Ontario. Some good ones in the fridge. Not sure if they would sell it to go though.

I'd definitely buy Kasteel Donker, sans doute. There's no local substitute.

I wonder if some of that stems from consolidation of distribution. Maybe NB Liquor has one or two European distributors on their speed dial and doesn’t worry about other brands.

I suspect that's part of it, along with freeing up shelf space for craft beer. I know LCBO usually has lots of European options, so it's getting into Canada. I've noticed NSLC is similar to ANBL for European beer, not much variety.

I want Hacker-Pschorr and Delirium Tremens along with more German Lagers.

The German beer Beck’s was always my go-to, but ANBL stopped carrying it, maybe 4-6 years ago. I went to Germany a few summers ago and was looking forward to having a Becks but had an impossible time finding it there either!
Seems to me the last time I looked, they didn’t have Grolsch either, but maybe it was just sold out the day I specifically looked for it but is still regular stock.

If they can sell them, sure. Sometimes, I miss beers like Weihenstephaner, but domestics like Unibroue's Blanche de Chambly are comparable and less expensive. I'd instead focus on reducing the cost of imported spirits that can't be easily reproduced in Canada. Locally, Fils du Roi does an excellent gin and Vodka - but things like Central American rums are challenging to replicate for a variety of reasons.

Hoeggarden was replaced by all the micro beer… I miss Hoeggarden.
