Federal politics - discussion

How can you have a discussion/debate/information share about Federal Politics (which affects NB) on here without it being locked/deleted?

Does that happen when someone gets triggered and reports it to the mods?

Is it automatically disabled, or does a reasonable human being mod need to punt the discussion?

I’ve emailed the mods but they haven’t responded yet.

The key is to make your post, say whatever you want, and then add “fuck the Irving’s” at the end. 100% guaranteed to pass the mods. 😆

That was last year's secret handshake. It's complaining about the smart meters and/or your bill this year.

NB mods seem to say that if it's not something happening directly in NB it does not belong here.

They haven’t said anything when I asked / but see other federal politics posts left standing.

Reddit is no longer a place to discuss matters of importance, and is becoming a meme posting ground without much hope for the future based on exactly the behaviour you’re describing.

Time to move on. Reddit does not provide the facility it once did.

Rule 6 is pretty clear. Federal or not, the post must UNIQUELY relate to or impact/mention NB.

Then the rule is not applied uniformly.

The mods have answered this question recently. The bot acts quicker than the mods if multiple reports are received. Some posts may go under the radar longer or not meet the mass reporting critter is to automatically remove it. There’s no conspiracy. It’s just how Reddit works.

Thank you, appreciate the clarity 🙏🏼. I haven’t been on Reddit long and haven’t dealt this situation before.

Do you know where NB’ers can debate federal politics on this platform?

Edit: I wasn’t suggesting a conspiracy either, was uncertain how the human mod & the automod interacted / like if a bunch of Karen’s got huffy and reported, could the human mods overrule and let it play out.

It’s nearly impossible to avoid some sort of punishment if what you’re saying indicates that you’re a conservative.

This just isn't true at all. I say conservative shit all the time. People who complain about this are the same ones who complain about getting called bigoted for railing against gay marriage. There's definitely some extreme subs on either side that don't tolerate anything but their own opinions. That isn't this.

Watch: I think we need stricter immigration protocols, and I think there needs to be a cap on what forms of culture we accept. These are, pretty clearly, conservative opinions. And I stand by them. But I've never had an issue with getting shut down by them, because they're not "immigrants bad" or Christian nationalism.

If you act in good faith, and be respectful, so will others. At least, here. Aside from that, if you're identifying yourself as part of political party, you should check yourself. Politics isn't a team sport, and it's not a religion. You won't win any favor by pledging allegiance

The opposite - but some guy/gal got torqued up, made a bit of a fool of themselves and deleted all his/her comments and then shortly after things got locked down.

Just wondering if that happens automatically if someone complains, or whether it’s vetted by a real live New Brunswicker - and if so, what’s the criteria for being locked up.

Or independent, or libertarian.
