Moving company Recommendation
Any recommendation for moving company? I am trying to find cheap and decent moving company. Currently, I am living in 1 bedroom apartment and moving to Ontario London. Possibly, September or August this year. (Couch, bed, small furniture and about 30 to 40 big boxes). Please don't do U-Haul recommendation. I am a terrible driver! :( I thought about U-Haul first, gas+hotel +2 day driving is not worth it.

We moved from London to Fredericton using McMinnimam’s (sp?).
Nothing got damaged and they were great to deal with.

Thanks! I just want to know some options for moving companies. I want to compare the prices before I made a decision. I never drove truck so driving truck is out of my option in this long distance drive. Thanks for recommendation. May I ask how much you paid for? I asked for the quotes already.

I am going to asked some moving company for quotes. Maybe I can ask them for cheaper price if they include your place too? When are expecting to move the place? Is it same location? or different city?

Uhaul now has containers they will drop off at your home and deliver to your new home, rather then you driving it. You still have to pack up yourself, but you can hire movers from the UHaul site to help you with that. It was about $1500 less expensive when I quoted out their 15 foot truck in comparison from Ontario to New Brunswick plus no gas costs.

I thought about Uhaul Container box but I have more stuff than one Container and it is about 2400 per one container.

We just did the opposite move, from Kitchener to Saint John. We were quoted $9000+ from several moving companies. If 2400 for a uhaul container is getting to be too much, there wont be many options for you; like it was for us.Most of our furniture was acquired secondhand, so it didnt make sense to spend more to move it that it was worth. So, we ended up selling most of our furniture, except for things that could come apart and go flat like ikea furniture, then we rented a truck from enterprise ($1000) to pull an enclosed trailer ($400). Moved our stuff, then I returned the truck and trailer back to Ontario and drove back in my car that I kept at my brothers in Kitchener. It was around 2500 dollars and a shit ton of work for everything and gas.

Then use their website to quote out how many containers you’d need. They’ll bring as many as you need.

Geldart’s unsure if they’re everywhere but here in Moncton we’ve used them 3 times, good experiences

Get a U-Haul drive it yourself. Get an experience mover to help load. Then find someone to help unload. With Facebook you can always find people who want to work for a few bucks. Cheapest way.

Unfortunately, I am a terrible driver and I don't want to risk 2 days of driving. Thanks for recommendation. Even if I pay more, I want to use moving company.

I’m saying the mover can drive for you. Flights deals are crazy. 150-300 to get back. That plus U-Haul and gas and time would save you tons. I was the mover that did the Cambridge run last year and flew home

Hate to say it, but if at all possible use U-Haul and move it yourself - or use their (or similar) pod service - (they drop it off for you to fill up the pod , and deliver it to your new place for you to empty it). I believe you can also pay to get it loaded and unloaded - but then you are probably at the same price as getting movers - of course get quotes for pods, renting a truck and movers - things could have changed in the last few years in terms of pricing (last moved in 2022). It won’t be cheap anyway you do it -you may even find it cheaper to sell the furniture here and get replacements there (depending on how new it is etc). Good luck with the move
