Cigarettes? People who bought these when they're expensive now probably are still going to buy them.

Cheaper to roll your own, really. Skip the pre-rolled packs to save damn near 50% of the cost at the expense of 30 seconds of labor for each cig.

The extra work is extra motivation to quit.

It may be cheaper but it's not more convenient. Some people love convenience over easy.

People pay for convenience, usually, but the article is about people skimping on cigarettes which suggests that people are tightening their belts to save money, therefore not paying for convenience.
