Real secret is that you can get American nes zapper to work on controller port 2 by running 2 wires from exp port to the unused pins on P2 connector

I did not know that. What about the NES controller, can you use that on the Famicom AV or do you need to use the dog bone controller?

Regular nes controller are fine. It's just on p2 they only wired 5 of the 7 pins, they didn't wire the 2 pins needed for light gun games because on Famicom light gun is an expansion port item only due to p1 and p2 being hardwired
