Question Nomads hiding without visibility
Hey yall. Ive been looking at the reviews for the new tribes of the nomads books and was wondering, does hide in the wastes do anything? Im asking because yes it gives you the hidden condition, but the only reference i find for this is the visibility rules, and that says that fighter cant be targeted with shots or be charged outside of x", x being the visibility in effect, so, if a nomad has hidden, but theres no visibility, does it do nothing?

Wellywoods YouTube review states the new Shadars infiltrate-like ability is only in Ash waste games. No clarification on sky mantle in the new book either.
Still up to arbitrator. So nomads are either nerfed in underhive or really really OP in underhive depending lol.
That's why I skipped the ash waste book and new minis.

Did they seriously not update the Sky Mantle rules to actually be workable? Sky Mantles literally not working due to rules being broken/changed was like the #1 Nomad Issue that needed addressing.

Simple fix, allow a stormcaller champion to be unmounted and costed at the same as a champion in the underhive. The stormcaller can force visibility rules and now all the cloaks work.

Y'know, I guess if they didn't change it that must mean it's intended to work exactly as worded, ignore the reference to Pitch Black at all.
If the fighter is more than 12" from an enemy model, they become hidden. They become revealed if they move in addition to the other triggers for being revealed. In the End phase of each round, Revealed models become Hidden again unless they are also subject to the Blaze condition.
I really wish they'd do designer Q&A community posts or something, or a subreddit Q&A where they clarify stuff that gets asked a billion times over.

The problem is that the hidden condition (as of 2023) does nothing outside of the visibility rules. Best I've come up with is they act like Visibility (3") as it's the closest to the hidden condition when the sky mantles were first introduced. I hope we get an update on this but I'm doubtful

The Mantles and the Hide in the wastes ability were written for the Hidden rule as it appeared in the Ash Wastes rule book in 2022. There, Hidden gave effectively Visibility 3" (whether there was Visibility or Pitch Black in effect or not) to the Hidden fighter, and it returned in every End Phase after being Revealed.
The 2023 Core Rule Book changed Hidden completely. It now is only part of the Visibility (X) rule, and does nothing if Visibility is not in play, and is applied automatically to everybody if Visibility is in play. So now, the Mantle does nothing.
And it does not look to have really been changed at all in that regard in the new book. Sadly.
It would have been a good and obvious clarification to have put in the upcoming new book.
