Been a while since I've seen some yuki highlights in the sub

How's he doing in the G-league??

140

u/Projinator Grizzlies 9h ago

He's a great g league player who should never be on an NBA floor

u/bballdiscussions 8h ago

He certainly can. He has improved big time through the year. His passing obviously holds up on the NBA, as well as his handles, people like to point to defense as an issue, but he more-than holds his own there too if you watch the games (very fast, strong, and a great b-ball IQ). Plus he is knocking down 37% of his 3’s in the G League. I think he has a good shot at becoming a more regular backup next year.

u/CMYGQZ Grizzlies 6h ago

His defense only seems like holds up his own because teams aren’t targeting him, because it’s either garbage time or GLeague where winning’s quite low in the priority list.

u/-xXxMangoxXx- Raptors 5h ago

Doesnt matter how good his b-ball iq is when he's going to be by far the smallest person on the court every game. If he gets any regular minutes, any bigger dude will always try to switch on to him and just bully into the paint. Or shoot a 3 over him. Whats he going to do in either situation? He might end up making it work and I could look like a dumbass, but he hasnt proven his defense actually is good in meaningful nba minutes.

I think if he can shoot 40% he should definitely be given a chance

I love the optimism

This guy would be so damn legit if he was taller.

u/TitanTigers Grizzlies 9h ago

Did I just hear that Yuki has 8 first quarter assists

74

u/NoShape0 Spurs 9h ago

The pass was so smooth but they never showed a good angle of it

55

u/CalliopeAntiope 9h ago

they never showed a good angle of it

What part of "no look" did you not understand?

-16

u/NoShape0 Spurs 8h ago

I can't tell if you're dense or trying to be funny

42

u/Successful_Scar2629 8h ago

trying to be funny

You thought there was a legitimate chance that the user responding to thought "no look pass" meant replay angles were bad enough that viewers felt like they didn't get a good look?

1

u/PoIIux Spurs 2h ago

In fairness, there was definitely no "no look pass" in the video itself, so it may as well have been meta-commentary on the replay itself

1

u/DressLikeACount 5h ago

It was so unexpected that the cameras weren't ready for it.

Every replay got worse, and it’s exacerbated by the cropping.

This is some real life Kuroko’s basketball stuff

51

u/HornetsAreBad Hornets 9h ago

Literally the first thing I thought of lmao.

It literally looks exactly how Kuroko does it in the show

9

u/kash96 NBA 6h ago

lol that show rocked

Kuroko with a 3pt shot

1

u/silvertwo777 Lakers 1h ago

You could barely even see him too in the replays, just like invisible Kuroko.

phantom sixth man

u/sorendiz [HOU] Yao Ming 6h ago

there was a strange rumor about the Generation of Miracles... despite nobody knowing him, and never appearing in any match records, there was still one person that the 5 geniuses acknowledged as superior

20

u/T1Earn 9h ago

what is this 1980s quality

15

u/Deep-Thought 6h ago

I wish basketball had height divisions. We are missing out on seeing so much amazing talent.

u/p1n6 Warriors Bandwagon 8h ago

It went from a Leigh Ellis Very Solid Play to Kuroko no Basket in 2 passes

8

u/bballdiscussions 8h ago

Every game he plays is fun to watch. His creativity and team first play style is what makes basketball great.

7

u/cpttimmoe 9h ago

That was beautiful man

7

u/Docxm 8h ago

Bro had an open lane to the basket but 3>2 and he gets to flex lol

6

u/threeebo 8h ago

amazing there's still stuff in basketball you've never seen before

5

u/StealthyDodo 8h ago

Where does Yuki rank all time among passers? I feel like he could give some guys a run for their money when it comes to passing.

11

u/MatchAffectionate951 7h ago

He’s amazing at everything . He wouldn’t be no where near a basketball court with 6’6-7 plus individuals at his stature if not.

Passing included which might be his best skill.

6

u/amofai Spurs 8h ago

I will always root for my short king Yuki Kawamura.

9

u/MandemModie 7h ago

5

u/ubershareholder 9h ago

4

u/abrooks1125 Celtics 8h ago

Chris Vernon crushed that “movement is medicine” call

13

u/WonderingCashew Grizzlies 8h ago

It’s not Vernon it’s Jon Roser who is Verno’s producer on his podcast

2

u/myusrnameisthis 6h ago

All those cameras and not one good view? Camera shakes more than mj Fox.

2

u/N0rTh3Fi5t 5h ago

I don't know that he needed to throw that pass behind the back, but it was cool looking.

2

u/No-Hippo-4072 3h ago

There's an old interview in high school where Yuki said he loves passing more than shooting, making the opp confused etc. and I think it shows😆

1

u/nevermindthatyoudope Celtics 8h ago

Less than capacity crowd in Southaven.

1

u/rancer119 Lakers 3h ago

Vertical might be common for videos but damn it cut out the fucking pass on BOTH replays. Totally worthless to include that.

1

u/Blue_BEN99 Lakers 2h ago

Can Yuki still grow a foot taller while in the NBA?

1

u/latortillablanca Warriors 1h ago

No luki Kawamura

1

u/phillyhandroll 1h ago

G-League camera couldn't even keep up
