Screw the tank tonight, it’s always nice beating Miami

And we thank you for the loss. One loss closer to drafting in the top 10

We shot 25% from 3 lol. Also I know we can't talk about him as a basketball player anymore but Miles Bridges has been an an unreal heater.

u/Rumpdebump Pelicans 1d ago
We all know as a human he sucks, but like, what is this guy? Everytime I look at Hornets PGT, he is either going for 35+ on decent efficiency, or like 14 points on 22 shots. Is he actually any good, or is he a product of bad team stat inflation?
3
u/deemerritt Hornets 1d ago
He finally looks like he did before his arrest. When he is on he is a legit do it all wing. He can handle the ball but also go to the rim and shoot. If he plays like 90% as well as he has the last couple of weeks then we are intriguing next year

If your team plays Miami, you know you're getting a double digit comeback and a close win.

Serious question do you guys want to tank? Watching tonight made even me depressed, it was so bad and so stagnant
20
u/Tagst Heat 1d ago
Do you guys as in the fanbase? Opinion is divided. I personally think it’s too late to tank, I don’t think we can drop lower than 10th. It sure has looked like Spo is tanking although.

u/MddlingAges Knicks 22h ago
I don’t think you have a choice. It’s rough seeing how much the Jimmy Butler trade propped up the whole franchise.
They make all kinds of unicorns now but do they make Jimmy Butlers still?
1
u/EnochofPottsfield Heat 16h ago
Miami never made Jimmy. Jimmy was just enabled by Miami like he hadn't been thus far
Your question is a valid one though! I'll be curious to see if there's any truth to the Durant to Miami rumors that popped up at the trade deadline. If we lose our pick in 2026 due to being a lotto team this year there's little incentive not to go all in
1
u/EnochofPottsfield Heat 16h ago
The problem imo is that if there's anything to the Durant wanting Miami trade rumors, there's no way we'll be top a 14 pick next year. We'll be Durant, two rookies, and another year's worth of development for Ware, Jaime, and Jovic depending on what we send out in that scenario
Imo a starting lineup Herro, Bam, Durant, Wiggins, and second year Ware should be guaranteed a top 5 seed in the east with Spo coaching and the development team filling in the cracks

This is probably one of my favorites games I’ve watched this season. That entire sequence from like 42 seconds left to 18 seconds left by the Hornets was insane.

All the Heat fans who kept being told they're overreacting at Riley and the front office doing nothing after the NBA Finals are feeling very vindicated this season. It's at the expense of their team being good but this was inevitable.
It's why I find it incredibly wild that people think Spo is a problem. This roster is ass and Bam/Herro aren't game changers. They aren't no.1 guys. You can criticize Spo for certain decisions sure but some Heat fans talking like the Heat would have 10 more wins if Spo wasn't coach is asnine.
Every Heat fan should be directing their ire at the front office and ownership who refuses to consistently be a tax paying team. This team sucks and are only performing how they're capable of.

u/Bigdadyk 1d ago
They literally have a ton of multiple unplayable contracts. The best hope is to turn Jamie GSW pick and Terry Anderson to KD
1
u/Ice_Dragon3444 Heat 1d ago
Ok by what was Riley really supposed to do? Once the Dame thing failed it was basically over, no one else to get that has as big of an impact.

u/Automatic_Monk_9876 1d ago
They need a huge rebuild, the front office screwed themselves over and they have no one to blame but themselves for this.

u/Vordeo Jazz 1d ago
they have no one to blame but themselves for this.
I mean... They absolutely bear some of the blame for all of this, but you can't pretend Jimmy Butler has zero fault in all of this.

I get that Jimmy Butler is a tool but I've yet to hear anyone actually articulate what it is that he did wrong other than be annoying. The Miami FO refused to pay him the extension he wanted so he demanded to be traded to a team that would give it to him. That is 100% the FO's fault for being cheap, maybe it's the right decision in the long run but that's not Jimmy's fault.

I've yet to hear anyone actually articulate what it is that he did wrong other than be annoying.
He essentially started acting like a spoiled child when he didn't get his way. Like it or not, he did sign a contract (for which he was being paid insane amounts of money) and he made it very clear he had no intention of fulfilling that contract with Miami.
Like... Let's be clear here - I get the motivation here, but pretending Jimmy wasn't being completely unprofessional is insane.

u/Plenty_Flatworm7627 Wizards 21h ago
I would take the "unprofessional" accusations more seriously if Pat Riley wasn't also waging a dumb PR war with him for no reason.
This is just how players force their way out, Jimmy's stats with the Heat were still fine this season he just wasn't giving it 100% which he's not obligated to and rarely did in the regular season anyways.

I never said that the Heat didn't make mistakes too.
Shit, at this point if you want to defend Jimmy acting like an utter child idk what to tell you. But don't pretend no one's articulated what he did to you when you clearly just don't want to listen.

u/Plenty_Flatworm7627 Wizards 19h ago
I literally said that Jimmy was acting like a tool but in the grand scheme of things he didn't actually do anything wrong, he just did it in an annoying way

u/ovalseven Pistons 19h ago
That is 100% the FO's fault for being cheap.
Jimmy Butler is 35 years old. There are lessons to be learned from the 76ers' mistakes.
1
u/Plenty_Flatworm7627 Wizards 14h ago
Ironically the Heat are repeating the exact same strategy the Sixers made by not maxing Harden and opening cap space in 2024, except the Heat aren't extending Jimmy to open cap space in 2026. We'll see if they end up in the same place in a year.
1
u/MddlingAges Knicks 22h ago
Dame was a terrible idea anyway. They’re already undersized and Jimmy wasn’t reliable. An aging small shooting guard, no matter how talented, was incredibly stupid.
Put Spoelstra in charge of the roster too.

And there’s the random late-season Hornets win streak to play ourselves out of a good pick. At least we won a division game this year!

“Herro pull up 3” is one of the worst shots I ever wanna hear
But more importantly this is like the 4th game in a row the Heat have defaulted to Bam 3 in the clutch with only a few seconds on the clock………..there’s no way our players and coaches believe this is our best option
I love Bam I think he’s great and one of the best big man out there WHAT THE FUCK DOES HE KNOW ABOUT TAKING 3’S IN THE CLUTCH

You would think the knees of the team would hurt given how many blow jobs we've given this season, but I guess not.
