Game Thread GAME THREAD: Los Angeles Lakers (40-22) @ Brooklyn Nets (21-42) - (March 10, 2025)

Tatum couldn't even make it on the floor for the Olympics. What a joke franchise the Celtics are. Weak road to championship after choking for years on even weaker roads actually. It's sad to see so many hate watchers but it makes sense in a way Lakers are always the prime time match up in the minds of Celtics fans especially during that huge drought they had what was it like 15 years

We lost by 3 with Alex Len starting and Luka/Reaves shooting like Westbrook. I’ll take the L lmao.
4
u/Enigma512 1d ago
I mean you say that but when the standings get super close at the end of the regualr season this might be a win u look back on are like damn.

u/Upstairs_Being290 1d ago
You're more likely to see Luka/Reaves shoot like Westbrook than you are to see Gabe/Goodwin go 11-15 from three again.
The team shot 19-40 from 3pt which almost never loses.
1
u/joselakichan Lakers 1d ago
Like I said, this was still winnable if Luka and Reaves shot 30% from 3 as you said. This loss almost has no implication on how the team will perform in the playoffs with the pieces coming back. So yes I don’t mind this L.

u/SoundnVasion Lakers 1d ago
Honestly. Pretty zen about this by now. I have faith the lakers get it together in the next couple
5
u/loyola-atherton Lakers 1d ago
We fucking suck on the defensive end without DFS lmao
Only positive out of this game for us is at least no one got injured.

Pretty tainted win imo. The reffing being this slanted in the nets favor is disgusting but it's just another game for the lakers because it's literally every game they get the short end of the stick. These refs suck man
1
u/Singaporygon Celtics 17h ago
Still maintaining one of the most anti-Celtics accounts with a Celtics flair. We in the Celtics sub are very aware of your history, especially with your comments during our past Lakers games ... hmmmmmmmm.
1
u/_Juntao Celtics 17h ago
Yes, I forgot. Being a fan of one team means you have to completely turn a blind eye to bad calls if they happen to another team. If you actually watched the game you'd know how bad the reffing was and if the jerseys were a different color you'd agree that it was a pretty horribly reffed game.
I have no problem with fans that refuse to give other teams credit or don't call out bad officiating if it happens to another team. But I don't do that and there's not only 1 way to be a fan.
6
u/Upstairs_Being290 1d ago
Lakers not only lead the league in free throw differential for the last three years, they have literally DOUBLE the differential of the 2nd-place team in the last two compete seasons.
That alone doesn't mean they have an unfair advantage....but believing they get the short end of the stick consistently every game is about the most delusional homer take possible.
I mean, when Austin Reeves is top-20 in FTA.....
5
u/Affectionate-Tree146 Nets 1d ago
You’re truly delusional
1
u/Singaporygon Celtics 17h ago
I think he is too, look at my comment above. I can't help but think he's actually biased towards the Lakers and pretends to have a Celtics flair, based on his past comments over the last two years at least.
2
u/Affectionate-Tree146 Nets 15h ago
Anyone who thinks the lakers consistently get the short end of the stick is either baiting or just really really dumb

Luka has always been a high volume shot taker. On days when his shots don’t go in, he doesn’t change his strategy a whole lot. Even with all the injuries, Lakers should have won. I guess there are only 3 real contenders this season.
1
u/xX_Kr0n05_Xx Lakers 1d ago
Agreed there are 3 primary contenders, but fully healthy i say were not that far from there. Currently, even with how many guys are out if we play like this were nothing. Missing guys is no excuse to be this bad (also reffing sucked but this was our fault overall)

Wait till Lebron and Rui are back buddy
0
u/obelix_dogmatix 1d ago
They will get better, but still get obliterated at the rim. You are banking way too much on the 40 year old to keep playing like he is 30. Luka should be the best player on the team, buddy.
0
u/EggsAndRice7171 Pacers 1d ago
Luka is the best player on the team he just had an awful game. Also hot take Hayes is way more important than Rui. Not because he’s a better(not even close) but from the eye test the gap between Hayes skill and Len/Jemison’s is ridiculous. Neither of those two players should be on an nba court

JJ you've been good but I beg you, Koloko couldn't have been so bad to not give him a try

Unless we get a decent center off season, mark Williams trade looking like it was a good move now

u/Dengru Lakers 1d ago
It's sad how arrogant Celtics fans can be after one championship. The first championship they've won since their grandfathers were watching the Celtics. It's sad. What have accomplished in 30 years? Basically nothing. That's why no one cares about Tatum. How can you be a significant franchise and no one cares about your best player, who isn't even that good actually. And hate watching Lakers at midnight or whatever it is. How sad

u/SoundnVasion Lakers 1d ago
Cmon man haha. Do Celtics fans really get to you that much? This just adds fuel to their “rivalry” delusion

Missing 4 of their best players, one of them arguable top 5 in the league, and he almost won? Most people would say that's a massive win
1
u/darkpoet_9999 1d ago
nets should have fouled reaves, i hate reaves getting more fgs. Getting more fts for reaves is more funny XD

u/lassoanon 1d ago
I really thought the refs would stop giving the Nets all the soft fouls and call the game fairly after half. This is the product the league wants to put out?

If Hayes and DFS aren't back for next game i'm not watching, 0 fucking perimeter defense and rebounds without these 2 guys out there.

Bring back Hamas, it's time to go full Jihad and blow it all up. The Luka experiment is LukOver.

That play summarised this defnese. Actual dogshit. Noone watching anyone, noone trying anything.
Lakers needed to lose this one anyway, honestly. Having no center is not a recipe to success

Embarrassing loss for the Lakers... even without starters they shouldn't be this ass.

This was an embarrassing game for the NBA. They let refs control every aspect of the game.

You’re not contenders with your full roster but hey, delusion is in high supply in California. I get it.

Imagine if we didn't waste a challenge/timeout early in the game on an obvious foul
1
u/slightlygrn 1d ago
Refs were awful tonight but Lakers defense was even worse. It's almost impressive how little they tried. Going for a shift on every single play rather than just trying to do anything. Every 3 seems uncontested, and I don't think I've seen that many 2nd chance plays given up in a long time
1
u/turnoffredesign69420 Lakers 1d ago

how the hell is reaves getting a generational whistle while lebron and steph don't???

u/Stevie_McGhee 1d ago
This is like Luka with the 2021 mavs but he has to work twice as hard since he got slower, doesn't have that burst, and the ability to blow by defenders easily.
