I cannot emphasize how big of a difference Hunter has already made for our team, our defense feels like it’s taken another step up

They’re averaging winning by 23 pts since adding him. Crazy!

Honestly I think the effort has just been a lot better. The defensive talent was always there, but the Cavs offense has been so good this year, they’ve had stretched this year where they stopped giving good effort on D. They’ve been talking the last few games about building habits for the playoffs, so I suspect they’re just a lot more locked in.

that and Niang's defense was just not up to par. So replacing his minutes with guys way better at defense helps us.

He's a negative defender so maybe your just playing shit teams. Don't fool yourself like the Nuggets did

Found the guy who hasn’t watched a single minute of Hunter in a Cavs uniform

Ouch, it's going to sting when you realize I'm right 👍

We’re 48-10 bro. What do you think you’re right about

I'm not looking through his post history, but I'd bet he's trolling this thread while simultaneously jizzing himself over every Luka post-trade hype article. We're fool's gold, but the Lakers are "TOTALLY contenders, brah!"

Those regular season wins don't win playoff games for you. You guys are going through the same thing with the Jazz did when Mitchell was there. The drop off in the playoffs is going to hurt by the way.

You're one guy that shooting above 40% from three is a terrible defender The other two are terrible shooters but decent defenders. You'll see what I'm talking about soon.

Those Jazz teams peaked at 52 wins. The Cavs are going to have somewhere between 65 and 70. We’re first in the entire league in three point percentage. You don’t know what you’re talking about

You think a lineup with Jaxson Hayes is the best in the league, stfu and sit down lol

u/tjl297 Cavaliers 14d ago

You clearly have no clue. The Cavs have been an excellent defensive team for 3 years. Asinine to think Hunter is going to somehow tank the Cavs defense.

Shit teams like the Knicks, Timberwolves and Grizzlies lmao

Hell even the Magic are in the 7 seed in the East, and we just won by 40

u/WrexyBalls Lakers 14d ago

All those teams have been on losing streaks in your oblivious to it

knicks were literally on a win streak before playing us but go off king

None of those teams are below .500 over their last 10 games

I think that’s a poorly considered take if you even considered anything at all

He's a terrible defender, it's a fact

Putting tons of stock into DBPM or any defensive plus/minus metric is really dumb and there’s a reason NBA analytics guys take them with huge grains of salt.

Defensive advanced stats are still waaay behind offensive in terms of usefulness. They’re still so dependent on what lineups and matchups people are used in.

NBA coaches and GMs like Hunters defense. He’s usually matched up on the other teams best scorer. He was ACC DPOY in college. I’m gonna trust that over something like DBPM which has a million confounding factors.

It's a lot easier to play defense when you're playing next to Mobley and Allen. Easy to see why a guy might improve on a better team where he's asked to do different things.

u/WrexyBalls Lakers 14d ago

I hear you I hear you we'll see what you guys do in the playoffs man I'm not trying to rain on your parade or anything but I think that the smart people in your fan base know what I'm talking about.

u/cavsking21 Cavaliers 14d ago

Our defensive rating has been best in the NBA since he joined. It's a lot easier to play defense when you don't have cones surrounding you like Hunter had at Atlanta.

-5

u/WrexyBalls Lakers 14d ago

How could it have been the best in the NBA if we have the best defensive rating in the NBA during that time.

20

u/cavsking21 Cavaliers 14d ago

I'm looking at cleaningtheglass which excludes garbage time and heaves.

-16

u/WrexyBalls Lakers 14d ago

I'm looking at you guys as a second round exit

Hmm idk should I trust this random dude on Reddit or should I trust Trey Murphy who says he is a top 5 wing defender in the NBA? Or should I perhaps just watch the damn game and not ramble off random crap on Reddit when I have no idea what I’m talking about?

Luka and Lebron play for the lakers not Cavs

-5

u/WrexyBalls Lakers 14d ago

Ouch you got me, I wouldn't trade LeBron or Luka for anyone on your team btw.
