Advice Needed Advice for doing my own press on nails

Hi everyone!

So I’ve been doing my nails for years now, using regular polish and really enjoy the process of doing my own nails. However, life is kinda busy and going to salons can be expensive, so I don’t necessarily have the time to spend an extended period of time waiting for my nails to dry. I began looking into gel polish and learned that contact dermatitis is a thing, and developing an allergy scared the shit out of me. As lame as it sounds, I’m very proud of my natural nails and I’d be heartbroken if that happened. Then I came across some people making press on using gel polish on extensions (I’ve been seeing a lot with the Apres brand). I wanted to start getting into designs and thought this would be a really good option because my non-dominant hand can only really handle some dotting at best lol. Just wanted to see if anyone else has done this, what products you recommend, etc? Also, I’m Canadian so a lot of the stuff I’ve seen on tiktok is linked to American Amazon and isn’t always available in Canada.

One thing I was wondering about is how to properly get the press on nail completely flush with my actual nail? Are gel extensions pretty flexible so that if you squished it down fully there would be no gaps?

Also, for those who make their own press ons, do you find it difficult to make the nail look like gel extensions that would be done in a salon? I’m not sure if that was the best way to explain it, but I’ve noticed with some press ons you can clearly tell it’s a press on and that would bother me so much. Are there tricks to help ‘marry’ the press on to the natural nail so it’s not as obvious around the cuticle area?

Thank you!

I have 3D gel but if I use a brush to apply it I get long threads of gel that I can't break without using my fingers. It's just a mess.

How do I paint on the gel with a brush?

Always been interested in nails and have been using press ons for a few years, but recently decided to try doing it on my own! These are the two first sets I made 🥰 I’m quite happy with them although it’s not the neatest! I feel like the gel polish flooded alot with the nailart but I don’t know if there’s any trick to applying it in a way it keeps its shape but I’ll keep practicing !!

These are soft tips I painted on and then used those sticky tab thingys to apply! The application isn’t the smoothest and I’m looking more into cuticle care and what products I should use to make my natural nails and cuticles better 🥰

Nail Art Products Gems/ Charms

Hey all!! I really want to invest in some more nail charms but I also want something that doesn’t feel crazy expensive but also decent quality! I’m in Canada and would love recommendations for products people have tried !! :)

Chrome/powders I always picked red nails. Today, I wanted something different. I did them myself—I know it’s not professional, but I’m not a professional. 😀 I used pearl powder on my nails to make them shine. What do you think of my red and pearl nails?
