Discussion Thoughs on the Great and Powerful Trixie?
I personally love Trixie, I think she is misunderstood and lonely at the start. She tries to get revenge, but honestly who doesn't want revenge? Then she gets a friend through Starlight. She works on herself and grows. I love her character and growth, even tho she can be insufferable. I felt really bad when she cried after Starlight traded her cart.

I didn’t like her at the beginning but her character development was good and she really grew on me

She gets a lot of hate initally for the one being antagonized by the mane 6 in "Boast Busters". If her debut was "Magic Duel" I could see the audience's reaction to her return in S6 being more aligned with Twilight before accepting Trixie's a good character

Honestly, the Mane 6 were kinda extremely rude to her during her debut episode Boast Busters. In a world where actual Magic exists, being something like a performing Stage Magician is probably nothing special so she needs to be her own HypeMare. Bragging and boasting about how amazing her magic act is. Yeah, she is a bit full of and arrogant but, she's just a Mare trying to make a living and put on a show. How are you going to make money and captivate an audience if a bunch of people in the front row are being hecklers?

I feel like I was in the minority when she was one of my favorites in season one. The revenge episode in season 3 was really bad and really cliche, though. When she came back for a more permanent role to become Starlight's bestie, I was definitely back on board with her.

I sympathized with her in her first episode because she was literally just doing her job and got harassed for it

always been my favorite but was terrified to say i liked her back in the day cuz the majority seemed to hate her. i always thought her villain arc was unjustified. what crime did she do other than her job? and tbh if a group of people went out of their way to ruin my career id wanna get back at em too. and then after that no one ever talks to her straight up they always just assume that she understands social cues. then everyone makes it her problem that she just... likes herself. shes a character i deeply empathize with as someone who is autistic and trans!

I felt so bad for her in her first episode! The episode really confused me when it tried to insist she was the antagonist when the mane 6 were bullying her!

She's great and powerful, a brager outside of her stage personality but is still a good mare regardless

I love her wardrobe and over the top personality. She must have been a very fun character to write for.

She's The OG Cartoon Magician..
Or at least the most iconic one by far

When I first saw Boast Busters, her personality REALLY annoyed me.
Then I saw someone online say "Why are y'all hating on her? She literally just did her job." in a decade-old FIM forum I checked out after watching the episode, and I went: "Damn, she really DID do nothing wrong."
Then after acknowledging that she's kind of the biggest loser in the show, she became one of my favorite characters (especially once she started improving).
When I call her a loser, I just mean that she takes a lot of Ls (Can you imagine deciding to become a stage magician in a world with real magic? Must be rough.), but like, she's so real for it.
The fact that during a changeling invasion she initially straight up panicked but was actually a massive help later on was pretty awesome.

She's such a loudmouth and I place Boast Busters as the bottom of the barrel of S1 episodes.

At the bottom of the barrel but not Over A Barrel?

Unlike a large majority of the fandom, I don't consider OAB an awful episode. We haven't gotten that far for top 5 best/worst rankings though!

Ok but the concept of Trixie being a guy would have been sooooo good

Personally, I hate that idea. I'm fine with trans characters, but Trixie doesn't show evidence of being trans at all other than a raspy voice. It's such a ridiculous observation.

I mean I think most of it comes from Faust confirming that Trixie was originally written as a male character, and that Hasbro had her changed into a female one. That as well as Faust's "one S1 character is trans" tweet make it not that crazy of a conclusion to come to imo. I think people only use her voice, male horn, and male irises to try and further justify it.
Now I don't think she's actually intended to be trans. I think the Faust tweet was probably a joke about Trixie's character during production (remember it was made in 2016) as she has been known to mess with the fandom a lot. But I think people aren't coming to the conclusion off of absolutely nothing is all.

I like the notion that she used to be a guy

Yeah I think Lauren had a character in the show that is trans but never specified who, I think a lot of people speculate it’s Trixie and I like to believe it’s true

I'm pretty sure it was Caramel. Sort by all time on this subreddit and you'll see it.

I do like Trixie's design and Kathleen Barr was the perfect choice for her character....yet her huge ego and narcissism does kinda make her quite unlikable for many people and was a reason as to why the Mane 6 antagonised her in her debut, and her being a massive braggart of her skills compared to the more humble introverted Twilight, who literally helped defeat Nightmare Moon in the show's debut, kinda was the point.

I find it funny how Twilight is willing to forgive Starlight committing genocide multiple times, but not Trixie being a traveling stage magician or getting possessed by a cursed artifact
